Finally Time To Build A Greenhouse!

It was here. It was HERE! Lauri-Ell smiled as she looked at the large cart with layered padded out panes of carefully and custom made glass. And with it, a whole selection of the metal bars and poles and things she had made with Gili's help that were finally ready.

Lauri-Ell looked at her deliveries and looked so INSANELY gleeful, grinning massively at all she saw. She was excited, definitely excited. But...

"Now I have to get it all upstairs," she sighed. And assembled. Which she could do. But man, there was so much she had to do. "I should have arranged a day where I knew I had help."

Or someone with telekinesis, but that didn't seem likely.

2. And So The Building Begins | Blue Building Roof
Finally. It had taken her all of the day before to carefully move all of the supplies up to the roof, even with help, and the fatigue after had been too much to start the building process. So she had taken the day off, put out feelers to friends and neighbors to see if anyone wanted to help, and got up early to start in the markets. A basket of fresh turnovers and sausage rolls later, and after the making of two large pitchers of 'lemon-aid' Lauri-Ell made her way to the roof with the copies of all of the notes and designs she had made for the work.

It was time. Lauri-Ell clapped her hands together and smiled.

"Alright. Frame first I think!"

3. Things To Go In Glass Houses | Flower and Gardening Shops
Alright, now she had a lovely little greenhouse prepared, one that she could even get into. So now there was the rest that needed to be done. Which was why she had taken her cart around to a number of stores. Already she had acquired a few large bags of soil and some pots and trays for planting. But now?

Now Lauri-Ell was looking at small seedlings, not to mention bags of things proclaiming to be seeds. She looked... worried.

"But how do such very small things become such big and good plants?"

And what should she get? Food and healing things, that was what she and Yuki had agreed to.

"I don't know what to do," she mumbled unhappily.

Llewellyn hadn’t thought of that, but it was a very good idea. He was glad to see his friend so pleased over it, too. “Can you? Well, I suppose that means you only need to look at this one today. I hadn’t really considered that, I admit.”

"No, I should get this one so we can water before that," Lauri insisted, tilting her head. This was something she really should consider for the future.

"I want to be able to take care of people that matter to me."

Llewellyn smiled a little at that. He could understand the desire very well. “Then, in that case? I will hang onto this while we keep looking for the other things on your list. It would um… Be a good reference when you do attempt to make one too, I expect.” He responded, adjusting his hold on the handle to carry it by that as they continued to look around.

"Yes," Lauri-Ell smiled and she let him carry the thing while she tried her best to pick up other things.

"Have you grown a lot of things before?"

Llewellyn was glad to be allowed to help, sure Lauri-Ell probably didn’t need help with carrying stuff… But she did need her hands free to check things over as she picked them out. The question gets a small nod. “I wouldn’t say a lot…? But back in the last world, I was helping at the Agricultural Dome. Helping with the smaller sprouts and checking in on them as they grew. Then an uh… A friend had a garden space there. She left before I did… But she planted a few things for me there, and I liked to go in and try to tend to them as best I could. Seemed right, I think.”

Leaning over a table of smaller trays, he used a free hand to pick one up to look at. “Then when I got here, Aerith offered me a part-time job at her flower show she’s opening. I’m uh- hoping to be a decent florist… But she’s been teaching me what I don’t know.”

"Agricultural dome?" Lauri-Ell asked. She hadn't heard much of other worlds now that she thought of it. How interesting. She wished to hear more.

"The friend who showed you flowers together? Would you tell me more of the other place?"

But it's nice to know someone else knows the nice lady Aerith.

“Yes, all the areas in that world were sections by large domes where we were under the sea.” He responded with a small nod. The question does get a little pause, thoughtful as he considered it… The good things, yes he could talk about that. Leave the frightful situations that world put them in behind. “The agricultural dome was where a lot of our food was grown. There were special lights to imitate the sun.” He explained carefully. It still hadn’t been quite as nice as the sun, but it certainly tricked plants.

“Then there was my friend’s garden… She could, uh- grow anything? She would ask you to just tell her the kind of flower you wanted to see and suddenly she’d made it happen. Just like that! The space she kept her garden was quite beautiful.” Sometimes he wondered if the garden was still there, and if anyone was still looking in on it.

Lights to make the sun. Yes, that, sounded good and Kree, so she nodded along. That would be the only logical way to do it in space to provide enough light and heat.

"Like the Cotati," she said at the description of the growth powers, and that made her more worried. "Was she a plant as well?"

The tone of her question gets a small, curious tilt of his head. She had mentioned the cotati before, and he was quick to try to ease that concern. “Oh- no, she wasn’t a plant at all. Well, she wasn’t human either. She was a goddess, though I realize that may sound a bit odd to some.” It had actually been a bit awkward for him at first, before he believed her for a few reasons.

"Prince-Consort William is the Demiurge, it is not strange to think of a goddess being someone to meet," Lauri-Ell answered quite easily. When one makes the maker of the universe and serve him and his husband, deities are easier to handle.

“Ah, I see...? I suppose it wouldn’t be strange at all, then.” Llewellyn responded with a curious tilt of his head. One of these days, he’d just learn to expect that. It wasn’t even that he hadn’t believed in the possibility before. He was quite open-minded. It was simply that it was very strange to meet someone like that.

“I sometimes wonder if it’s only strange in my world. One doesn’t simply meet gods or goddesses. Read about them in books, hear the old tales about them, but that would be about it. Mm... Well, and some people take their names to pretend, I suppose.” Murdoch would very likely look at him like he had two heads if he explained the sorts of people he’d met. Which would be interesting, but he didn’t think that day would ever come.

He shrugged a little as he moved on, “But she was really quite interesting to talk to, and she was very talented with plants.”

"I admit, before meeting William, I never met a deity myself. They are not common, even in my world."

There were those like Thor that were very active. And sometimes those of the Shi'ar were active. But many divines stayed out of things once science started to build up.

"There are many people here talented with plants as well."

Llewellyn hummed a little at that. Lauri-Ell was right, of course. There were a few people talented with plants and it was nice, and he was really enjoying his time learning more from Aerith. He smiled a little at his friend. “And you’re well on your way to being one of them.” Lauri-Ell herself seemed to be quite determined, and her greenhouse project seemed quite ambitious.

“Mm… Now! What’s next on your list?” He asked, tilting his head slightly as he leaned on a table with a collection of garden tools.

Was she? Lauri smiled widely at his declaration.

"Let us see... Yuki suggested making notes of what is in which areas. Is there a way to label them easily?"

“Mm…” Llewellyn looked around at that idea. Really, what was an organized and easy to find for Llewellyn was more of a mess for other people. The way he would keep track of things was perhaps not how other people would. It was part of why Murdoch tended to find him a bit difficult to understand and work with at times.

So he might not be the best person to ask for tips on things like that. Still, he did try his best and thought about what he’d noticed in other places before, “I suppose you could, uh- buy something to stick in the planter that you could fix little signage to if you need to label what’s been planted where.”

"Oh?" she asked, thinking about that. Was that a proper thing to do?

"Do you think they have sticks here?"

“Mm… I think so? There should be something around here, maybe on one of the displays over here?” Llewellyn commented with one of his vague waves, moving over to have a look around and see if they could find something suitable for Lauri-Ell to label what she wanted to keep track of.

"Ah, yes," Lauri agreed, moving toward the vaguely waved direction. "I hope my writing is clear. I am not good with human writing."

Llewellyn picked at a few small odds and ends, looking for something appropriate. He knew what he had in mind, but he wasn’t entirely sure where he’d seen them before. The comment about her writing gets a small, concerned glance. “Mm… If you need assistance, I’d offer to help. Though it’s been commented on that my handwriting changes depending on the moment.” A little messy, neat, illegible chicken scratch… It probably depended on how much time he had and which hand he was using.

He perked up once he found a small set of wooden plant pokes that one could probably write short things upon. “How about these?”

Oh, those looked good. Lauri-Ell nodded.

"Yes, I shall get these. Perhaps Yuki can write the names."

Really, she needed to sit down and try writing earth languages. Kree was so very different and no one else here even spoke it.

Well, since his offer had apparently been unneeded or unwanted... He shrugged and picked a few up to carry for her. "Anything else, Lauri-ell?"

It was more that she did not wish to take more of his time, especially when Yuki would help her with the plants anyway.

"Well, I was hoping that at some point you might be willing to teach me human writing? I do not wish to bother Yuki with such things. He teaches me so much already. I do not wish to burden him."

Teaching her human writing? Llewellyn slowed and tilted his head up at Lauri-Ell with a small smile. “Oh- of course, I’d be happy to help with that?” Yes, that was something he supposed he could try to help with.

Given he’d been driven to become fluent in quite a few languages over the years, he expected he could at least understand the complication of learning to write in one that wasn’t your own. He wasn’t sure if it would make him a good teacher, but it would make him a patient one. “Just let me know when you’re available to, and I can work on some lessons for you to learn and practice?”

Hey, he knew human letters, so that was something he should be able to do. She would look forward to lessons.

"After the greenhouse is done I should have some time in evenings I believe," she noted. It would be nice. We grow to the part of the year where evenings are longer, yes? Gili only stays open when the sun is up, for safety. We work less in the dark months."

Llewellyn frowned lightly at the reminder the days were growing shorter… He disliked the longer nights, so dark and dreary, and so often something happened. But he was trying to be more optimistic this winter for a lot of reasons, a lot of good reasons. So he nodded, offering Lauri-Ell a smile instead as he looked up again. “Then a few evenings a week, once Gili closes earlier, we can arrange for it. I’ll just need to check with my husband’s schedule.” He’d rather make it for nights Rhy isn’t free, after all.

Humming a little, he continued a moment later. “You don’t mind dogs, do you?”
