Finally Time To Build A Greenhouse!

Who; Lauri-Ell and EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO!
What; Time to build a plant house
Where; Residence Square, roof of blue building, various flower and gardening shops
When; August 20 - 23
Warnings;

1. All These Supplies Have To Go Up | Residence Square
It was here. It was HERE! Lauri-Ell smiled as she looked at the large cart with layered padded out panes of carefully and custom made glass. And with it, a whole selection of the metal bars and poles and things she had made with Gili's help that were finally ready.

Lauri-Ell looked at her deliveries and looked so INSANELY gleeful, grinning massively at all she saw. She was excited, definitely excited. But...

"Now I have to get it all upstairs," she sighed. And assembled. Which she could do. But man, there was so much she had to do. "I should have arranged a day where I knew I had help."

Or someone with telekinesis, but that didn't seem likely.

2. And So The Building Begins | Blue Building Roof
Finally. It had taken her all of the day before to carefully move all of the supplies up to the roof, even with help, and the fatigue after had been too much to start the building process. So she had taken the day off, put out feelers to friends and neighbors to see if anyone wanted to help, and got up early to start in the markets. A basket of fresh turnovers and sausage rolls later, and after the making of two large pitchers of 'lemon-aid' Lauri-Ell made her way to the roof with the copies of all of the notes and designs she had made for the work.

It was time. Lauri-Ell clapped her hands together and smiled.

"Alright. Frame first I think!"

3. Things To Go In Glass Houses | Flower and Gardening Shops
Alright, now she had a lovely little greenhouse prepared, one that she could even get into. So now there was the rest that needed to be done. Which was why she had taken her cart around to a number of stores. Already she had acquired a few large bags of soil and some pots and trays for planting. But now?

Now Lauri-Ell was looking at small seedlings, not to mention bags of things proclaiming to be seeds. She looked... worried.

"But how do such very small things become such big and good plants?"

And what should she get? Food and healing things, that was what she and Yuki had agreed to.

"I don't know what to do," she mumbled unhappily.

“Oh, that is definitely an excellent idea.” He responded with a thoughtful tone, thinking back on the times he’d been learning new languages that also meant learning new alphabets. “At least I’ve always found it helps when learning other languages and writing systems. It’s mm… easier to recall and connect them in your head the more used to seeing them you are.”

He did pause thoughtfully. “And admittedly, writing implements can be tricky. I always smeared ink from the well across things.” Still did sometimes, if he was in a rush or not paying attention. Pencils, the nice self-inking pen that George had bought, and the more modern things in the last world had been preferred.

“It’s an uh- A bottle full of ink that you can dip your pen into in order to write with... Not as common in the future, from what I understand. The last world I was in had excellent self-inking pens that were already full. Quite an improvement, really. We have some pens that have ink in them already... but they’re a little pricier.”

He smiled a little. “And typing may be easier in the future. We have typewriters, and those good at typing find them quite useful. So I uh- could see it being less common to write by hand.” Probably neater than some handwriting, less room for mis-reading something. “Though the last time someone gave me one of those computer things in the last world I was in, I dropped it.”

“There’s a typewriter at the office I could show you…” But then he remembered she didn’t like the office, so he awkwardly waved a hand and moved on. “It’s a kind of device for typing letters on paper, like with a computer you push the keys to write words… But instead of it uh- having a screen, it just stamps the words on paper for you.”

How did he drop it? Well, Llewellyn was clumsy and scattered… His friend had at the Sphere had been understandably cross with him for it, but she had grumbled and fixed it often enough.

“Uhh…” He squinted a little. The fact they were from two very opposing kinds of worlds with very different technology had always been apparent to him… But this was certainly a stark reminder of that. But at least it also nudged a vague memory though. Sometimes the things he’d learned at the Sphere at least helped him come up with possible ideas for what she meant. “The last world had biometric locks on our drawers that used fingerprints, if that’s what you mean.” And if it was, he shook his head a little. “Typewriters definitely aren’t locked like that. There are some new electric ones, though. I’m uh- afraid most of the things I might refer to in conversation are a lot more primitive to what you’d be used to.”

He rubbed his cheek lightly, contemplating if it would be possible to borrow the one from the office for an afternoon. “So it might be easier to show you?”

“And I’d be happy to learn a little more about some of the things I’m not familiar with.” He responded with a smile, even if it might go over his head a little… He was always glad for a chance to listen and learn. It was why he pestered Murdoch as much as he had back in his own world. Well… That and it had been fun. The point stood, though, and he would look forward to it.

And he was sure no one would mind if the typewriter went missing for a day… He could borrow it from the office and have it set up when Lauri-ell came by to start her lessons. The others usually used pencils or pens so, it was usually a paper weight unless he wanted to use it. “I’ll be sure to have one set up when you visit, along with the other things we’ll need.” Pens, paper… Some examples for her to look at, perhaps.

“I’ll get everything set up and get in touch as soon as our schedules allow.” He still wasn’t sure if it would impress, considering the wide gap between his technology and hers. But it would be nice for them both to learn, and he was always glad to hear more about other worlds.

“I’ll be looking forward to it, then.” He responded with a brighter smile before shifting his hold on the supplies he’d helped purchase. He would help her back to the building with these things, and then get to work on planning.
