When; Early March
Warnings; None, will change if needed
Ignis was outside in his back yard. The winds hadn't that bad today and it had gotten a little warmer outside so he took advantage of the warmth and had gone to visit some gardeners on the back of his chocobo. Now he was back and had plenty of coffee at the ready along with his diagrams, and the green notebook that Llewellyn had gifted him with full of notes.
As for his mount, the chocobo was grazing nearby with plenty of fresh greens and water. The bird was always rewarded well for carrying the royal advisor wherever he needed to go. Some would even go so far as to say it was spoiled and Ignis would never tell.
He himself was dressed in black pants and boots, and was wearing a black satin button down shirt with black laces threaded through the sleeves. In preparation to this task, he had rolled them up past his elbows. Various plants sat on the ground in ceramic pots, arranged as he planned to plant them. Taking another sip of coffee, he then put his black gloves on and had his gardening tools ready.
"I daresay this is going to take quite a bit of work today and I need to make dinner tonight, so I'd best get started."

Nida, home from a shift of guard duty, entered their little guarden, Hibiscus walking proudly at his side. She was a growing bird, the chicobo already up to Nida's waist, and with them stopped she was preening affectionately at his unbuttoned uniform coat.
It had been a long shift for him and the bird both, started the night before, and involved one of Hibiscus's first sets of training with a saddle, not that she was old enough to ride yet. But the first training saddle had been made, and she'd worn it for a few hours in her stable at the guard house, and was clearly tired. But hey, that was life sometimes.
"Give me a minute to get her cooled down and in the stable, and let me change, and I'll come help."

He smiled at his husband. "Well you're lucky I wasn't still wearing my hat from earlier." the advisor said, gesturing to the tan hat with a white feather on it hanging behind him from the tree.
But he nodded. "Take your time, and I'll be here when you get back darling."
no subject
"Oh?"
He lifts his eyes to the hat and then laughs in delight. Yes, that was quite the hat. What a choice. He grabs the hat and then heads inside. Sorry, this whing would be best inside if it wasn't being used.
It takes about fifteen minutes, but he's back out soon in a linen shirt and warm pants, and he moves to Ignis's side.
"Hey my life. How can I help?"

In the meantime while he's waiting, he's busy getting his diagrams out. One featured a wheel of herbs and an alternate was something like a shelf. Flowers were sketched in another part too and he'd carefully catalogued all of the things he'd purchased and where they were going to go.
Turning when Nida's voice was heard again, Ignis leaned over to kiss the man. He'd never been called someone's life before but he loved it. "I'm just about to start digging around in the dirt."
no subject
When he returned he was happy for the kiss.
"Do you know where things are going?"
no subject
There was also plans for a tree and perhaps a small fish pond as well.
"It seems like it's a lot but I'm sure once it starts, it'll go quickly." However, he wanted to check in too. "If you think it's a bit much, I'll always take your input."
no subject
"No, it's good. It's really good. Show me where to dig, babe. Let me help your wonderful scheme."
no subject
So he turned and grabbed a few of the herbs in their little ceramic pots and set them down in a wheel shape.
"Something like this I thought might work best."

Still, he knelt down with his spade and brought his sketches down to help visualize what he was attempting to do here.

For now he kept working at his hole.
"You know, I'm sure there is a joke I could make here, about getting down and dirty with you."
no subject
Still, he was a little startled as his husband made his innuendo because Ignis could just dive into something so serious and not think about much else. So after a moment he smiled. "You're certainly welcome to do so when we're done."
no subject
"When we're done," Nida agreed. Which they had barely even begun to do. "OKay, I think this hole is deep enough. I hope?"
no subject
"Yes of course."
But he looked up long enough to see what his husband was referring to and nodded. His mind was going other places with the hole and deep question, but he kept it to himself. So he reached up and handed a small potted plant of parsley to him." "Yes."
And then he went back to his dirty mind and digging.
no subject
"This smells good," Nida said, taking the clump of soil that was the root ball from the pot. "I think we use this to cook. This is... parsley, right?"
He's learning. Slowly but surely he'd been learning, and coming to love this.
no subject
Ignis wasn't sure what wild life might be found around here, but he figured with a garden around, they were going to find out.
"I've a few more plants of that along with some Oregano and Parsley. I thought we might as well have fresh herbs to cook with." And he was looking forward to being able to harvest the little plants too.
no subject
Yes, he was trying to think about how to protect Ignis's precious plants.
"It's a good plan, actually. What do we do if we don't use them fast enough?"
no subject
He had to laugh slightly at Nida's question. "Then I suppose we can simply pawn some of them off on Llewellyn and his husband."
Or he could start taking them to the Lodge. They'd be used up pretty quickly there. But then again maybe it wasn't a bad idea to try and plant a garden there as well.
Of course there might be more than a few fluffy bunnies to deal with there.
no subject
"The Lodge might benefit too I think. You should consider it."

Their own space is a wonder. And Nida had never expected it. He pauses for a moment and looks up at the house.
"I haven't lived in a proper house, that felt like mine, since I was a child. There are all these new memories to make. And it makes my heart swell."
Then he looked to Ignis with a smile.
"Think we could maybe do a berry bush in the corner?"
no subject
"We'll give you plenty of those here." And of course he couldn't help but smile back at the one he was getting. The new idea had him pause a moment and he looked over at it briefly. "Indeed. What kind of berries are you thinking of?"
no subject
He knows they were there when he was a kid.
"Berries in the forest. I remember going into the forest to gather them. I don't remember much more."

should we assume/handwave that Nida has been teaching Ignis to carry Siren? They were thinking of it
