Ignis was outside in his back yard. The winds hadn't that bad today and it had gotten a little warmer outside so he took advantage of the warmth and had gone to visit some gardeners on the back of his chocobo. Now he was back and had plenty of coffee at the ready along with his diagrams, and the green notebook that Llewellyn had gifted him with full of notes.

As for his mount, the chocobo was grazing nearby with plenty of fresh greens and water. The bird was always rewarded well for carrying the royal advisor wherever he needed to go. Some would even go so far as to say it was spoiled and Ignis would never tell.

He himself was dressed in black pants and boots, and was wearing a black satin button down shirt with black laces threaded through the sleeves. In preparation to this task, he had rolled them up past his elbows. Various plants sat on the ground in ceramic pots, arranged as he planned to plant them. Taking another sip of coffee, he then put his black gloves on and had his gardening tools ready.

"I daresay this is going to take quite a bit of work today and I need to make dinner tonight, so I'd best get started."

Nida hadn't asked yet, if she had a nickname for Ignis now that he held her at times. He'd gotten used to her bird-adjacent names, and always took pride in being her hawk. But he figured his love would be something majestic. So that's fine.

His hand settled down on Ignis's face, turning Ignis's gaze until their eyes locked. With that he let his defenses down as much as he could, hoping to make it very simple for Ignis to take her, even as his mind stirred her to wakefulness.

"I'm ready."

Guard him well my dear.

He was met with laughter as he felt her slip away.

The intensity behind the gaze and harnessing Siren was always close to overwhelming. She slipped into his mind easily and he always had the impression she was exploring every avenue that she could get away with. And then he always pictured her making a nest somewhere there so to speak.

Ignis never asked.

Siren always seemed to start off with questions as to how he was, how work was going and all of that. It almost seemed pleasantly formal until she starting the nesting thing.

He leaned forward to give his husband a kiss and smiled. "I do believe it's break time."

"Break time?" Nida said, shocked. He was tired, but the plants... "We need to let these little ones in don't we?"

He was liking this, the time with his husband in a little bit of extra nature.

"We'll get to them darling." Ignis replied reassuringly before standing up and dusting some of the dirt off of his slacks. "However, I am requiring a bit of coffee at the moment."

Siren was going on in his head about different things, this time about the garden and how placements were important and energy and basically giving him a lot of instructions. Coffee input was needed to be able to keep up with her.

Well, if he's standing, Nida's rising with him, dusting off his own knees. Coffee would be good. Very good.

"You've got the look that says she's chattering at you. I'll never get why she's got hte energy for that with you, and she goes all sleepy with me. Maybe she acts like she thinks we need."

Ignis smiled. "She's definitely chattering about plans for the garden." He walked over to where the coffee was and started getting that ready. "She's suggesting plenty of things to get and where to put them."

"Or maybe all that coffee you drink wakes her up," Nida teased, grinning. "Maybe she's more suited to you than she is to me."

Or maybe she's trying to impress Ignis.

"That is quite a plausible possibility." Ignis replied, pouring a cup for Nida and holding it out for him to take.

"I am surprised to hear she doesn't do this to you." He's thinking she's just far more comfortable with Nida and has no idea as of yet as to how to deal with him.

Mmmm, coffee. Nida takes the cup gratefully and blows on it to cool the thing down.

"We've been working together for a long time. Since not long after Squall and his team saved our world. But she wasn't as active until a bit after that. It takes time and connection from my experience. But it also depends on the GF I find. Quez has energy and so would talk to me more."

Perhaps it is the unfamiliarity. The nerves. Ignis was a part of Nida now, and Siren KNEW Nida's emotions. And she knew people here felt uncomfortable about how GF magic worked.

After Nida began speaking, Ignis poured his own cup of coffee and listened. He nodded because what he was hearing made logical sense, the whole getting to know someone routine. Well that made a lot of sense and they of course were pretty damn new to each other.

So this taking time didn't bother him.

"I suppose you're correct. We will get to know each other and naturally that takes time."

Nida sippsed his own coffee slowly, happy with that pace.

"It does. I'm just not used to that. It's fun to see sometimes. But I'm glad you two get on."

"Fun to see." Ignis replied, with a look over the top of his glasses at his husband, wondering what was so amusing to the other regarding the situation.

However, he shook his head at the last bit. "If we didn't get along at least somewhat, I'd imagine she wouldn't stay with me and would prefer to constantly be your companion as she has been for quite some time."

"She wouldn't have a choice," Nida answered with a shrug. "A draw of an unjunctioned GF can't be resisted. At all. She'd go because she has no choice. So it's not about that at all. Back home we talk about it as 'compatibility'. It they don't like you, they are very slow to respond when called."

Which could be a problem when summoning because one was left vulnerable when calling.

"I see. So they're sort of like a favoured pet then? The more they like you the faster they come when you call?" Ignis asked, feeling the presence in his mind give him a sour face and he shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I'm merely trying to liken it to something I am more familiar with."

With that, Siren seemed to not take as much offense, but he had the feeling she was still offended.

Somehow he got the feeling he was going to have to make it up to her at some point.

Nida winced once the word 'pet' happened, because he figured Siren had to be giving the guy an earful for that slight. She would probably fume. Maybe he should take her back for the night.

"Think of it more as a friend you're texting. People that you're close to, if they can, will get to you quickly, even if it's silly. But if you can't stand a person, you might delay in responding just because it's a way to slight them."

"A friend..I don't know that we're on that sort of a basis." And of course with Siren's silence now, he was sure that might be bordering on something too hopeful at any point in time.

"However, you have my profuse apologies my Lady." Ignis said, closing his eyes even as he spoke the words aloud. Hopefully she would at least understand that his scholarly mind was trying to associate Guardian Forces with something he knew of. "Your sort aren't known to mere mortals such as myself. In my world we had Oracles forming covenants with your kind, and only Noct could summon them once he fought and defeated them, with an exception or two."

Ramuh came to mind.

He waited to hear something, anything for what seemed like minutes. However, he finally heard that he was forgiven. So his green eyes opened and he nodded at his husband. "I don't believe she's thrilled, but I believe she understands."

"She's a testy lady sometimes," Nida answered with a shrug. "I love her for it. Fickle as the seas, but more forgiving than Leviathan would be. If you'd called her that, she'd be livid for months."

"Ah well, Leviathan would only be dealing with the Oracle and Noct. There would be no way that the Hydraean would lower herself to dealing with regular people such as myself." He nodded at Nida and tried the tiniest smile. "At least not in my world anyway. But I would agree that our Leviathans seem to be similar in their tempestuous and far more unforgiving natures."

"Not from my world," Nida chuckled. "The Leviathan of my world, dear. She of the waves and the surf. Her mind is a bit more awkward to me than Siren's because she's less human, but I liked her too."

And that was why she wouldn't forgive Ignis.

"Right, different worlds and different rules and all of that." Ignis acknowledged with a slight smile. "But at least you got to know her and that would be quite the story to the lads if they ever showed their faces here."

Not that he would ever bet on it.

Nida didn't believe that someone from either of their worlds would come here. He was fine being alone wit his love and the lives they've made.

"I'm quite happy with this actually. Knowing I have experience others don't."

He smiled and reached for his coffee. "As it should." The coffee felt good going down and it helped him more in dealing with Siren of course who was now slowly beginning to warm back up in his mind.

She was a handful and a lot more than that, but he found himself agreeing to some of her suggestions for their garden.

"In a little bit, I'll go in and make us something to eat. I just wanted to ensure these herbs get planted first."

"Then let's get back to them," Nida suggested with a smile. "Yes, let's go get more work done out there. I want to make sure it all works out."

And it's better for the plants to be in sooner rather than later, right?

Ignis smiled. "After we eat, I'm going to take a shower. And then I suppose there's more work to be done in that spare room that we have."

Why he was working on it, he couldn't say. But whatever it was, was driving him to get it turned into a livable space.

And that had him get back to work.

"I'll probably sleep then. It's been a damn long day. Stupid fights between merchants in the market. I wanna fall over almost."
