The February chill was persisting as one tended to expect, and most may find the warmth and comfort of a hot beverage curled up inside under some cozy blankets more appealing than venturing out into the cold and snow… But not all.

Maybe it was the resistance to ice linked to Goemon, but Yusuke had found himself rather comfortable as he strolled through the park on his morning off. The high collar of his winter coat and gloves was enough to combat the cool breeze, and scattered flurries tossed up in the air now. He had nowhere to be, and while he may be tempted to practice forms and train a little later with his katana to keep sharp for whatever chaos this place threw at them next? For now, he was content to enjoy the atmosphere and admire the scenery of the park covered in snow that glistened in the morning sun.

Sometimes, he mused to himself, the most beautiful works of art were those brought about by mother nature herself… Framing a particular scene of a snowy hilltop with trees dusted in white and birds flitting about the branches he smiled to himself as he committed that scene to memory before continuing on.

At one point or another, the phantom thief found himself inspired to try his hand at working with snow after having seen a few snowmen around the city at one point or another. Snow sculptures seemed an interesting challenge, and he does so love a challenge when it comes to creating. So rather than work on his usual traditional art, he could be seen piling and packing snow as he tried his hand at a little snow sculpting. The subject of his piece being a shadow from memory, one of the more jolly ice based ones.

"Wow, they must be in a lot of stories or something if you remember that," Zack says with a wide grin.

HE gets it. Sometimes tv stuff is cool.

“Well, I believe it is a popular myth in other parts of the world.” Yusuke mused with a tilt of his head, stopping to frame the little scene of Jack Frosts with his hand and consider if they needed adjusting. His words are light and casual as he continued, “But I have as good a memory as I do because I’ve come across them before.”

Again, interesting. Zack really considers it, tilting his head thoughtfully. There's a lot to consider there.

"So they're common? We didn't have them in Gongaga."

“I wouldn’t say common, no. In my world they are, indeed, largely considered a myth. The ones I’ve met were in a particular place that one does not get too under normal circumstances.” He mused thoughtfully. It really was strange when he thought about that aspect of things.

“Gongaga is where you’re from, I presume? Are there no unique creatures there or?” He realized that he doesn’t really know Zack all that well, not at all really. Not enough to have made the connection that Aerith and Zack know each other and are from the same world.

"Ah... Dangerous caves," Zack says, like that makes a lot of sense.

Home gets him smiling though. EVen with what he'd seen for it in the end. Yes, he had pride in where he was from.

"Yeah. It's this sorta marshy town. There's touch-mes around of course."

Dangerous caves definitely weren’t what Yusuke was going for, though perhaps the depths of mementos were a little like traveling down into a deep cavern? Hm… No, perhaps not. One did not take vehicles down into them… Or a cat that turned into one; he supposed.

Ah, but as he worked to shape more snow, he had to admit he was curious about Zack’s marshy home town. “Touch-mes? I don’t believe I’ve heard of that before myself. What are they, if you don’t mind my asking?” He asked, with a curious glance in Zack’s direction.

"They're sorta like a frog, but when they punch you, you turn into a frog too for a while."

And that had to sound crazy for just about anyone.

"We used to play with them as kids."

“My, what ribbeting stories such confrontations must make!” He responded with a small chuckle.

“I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the like to turn someone into a frog. And you made a habit of playing with them as a child? I presume the change does not take so long as to be troubling, then.” He mused, moving from another jack frost to start piling snow for a larger shadow.

Oh man, that's a good joke. Zack laughs, loud and happy. It's quite a good one.

"Of course we did. They were fun. You could play tag with FROGS man! Or jump so high! So yeah, if you don't run into any of the monsters that eat frogs it's fine."

Ah, it’s so nice when people find his humor amusing. He looks quite pleased with the reaction, because it was quite a good pun in his opinion.

The shared story about playing tag with frogs definitely does paint an interesting mental image. One that he supposed he could see the appeal in, certainly. Both the challenge in what must be an odd change in perspective would be most interesting. “Though the risk does seem a touch concerning, I suppose if it was a game played often, then one must be aware of the risks and the best ways to avoid them.”

"Oh yeah. IT's really easy to hide as a frog. You're a lot smaller then," Zack points out, his expression bright. "Lots of fun really."

Yes, being smaller and having ample options for hiding because of that sounded rather likely. What interesting experiences some had in their younger years based on the varied things that existed in one world or another. “I can well imagine it was, especially if you have a group of friends with which to enjoy the game as well as the frogs.”

Yeah, there's that. He'd had friends that he did that with. But he didn't really feel the same about it now as he did then.

"Looking back, it was pretty dangerous. But there wasn't something we could do about that. Home was dangerous."

He could see some sense in that, often there were dangers that one did not even realize let alone obvious dangers like turning into a frog and risk being eaten by something, hm? “I suppose in hindsight it’s easier to see that than in the moment.”

"Yeah, it really is. But I was never afraid enough of them that I didn't head out to my secret gym to train when I was older."

But that was long ago. So long ago.

“A secret gym?” He comments absently, intrigued with the idea even as he works on a much larger snow sculpture than the smaller jack frosts.

"Yeah. It was outside of Gongaga, a bit south. I set up things to train against. It was great!"

He seems so happy with the memory too. His cactaur target, the tonberry one too. So good.

“Ah, like targets or training dummies and the like? It is important to practice one’s skills.” He smiled, starting to shape the larger snow mound. “And having a space to do so at your leisure is that is tailored to you and those you might share the time with is nice.”

"It really was."

But that's a thing he doesn't know how to think about. He'd run away from home, more or less, so long ago.

In so many ways, it sort of hurt to remember that. He missed his parents. He missed his home.

"It's a really cute snowman."

Looking up from the mound he was still shaping among the smaller jack frost collection, he tilted his head with a smile. “Thank you, though I’ve only just begun. I still have a way to go before my vision is complete. I should think.” He responded with a light, pleased tone at the compliment. It’s excellent encouragement to continue, given it’s not near complete.

"Geez, really? How many are you making?"

Because it seems like a lot.

It is a lot.

“As many as necessary to complete a balanced scene, and I believe the next I shall make will be a king frost.” He responded over his shoulder with a pleased chuckle, tilting his head back. “Art worth making takes time, and I have ample time on this fine day to spend on this particular endeavor.”

"There's another kind of frosty dude?"

Weird. Kid's got lots of ideas in his head.

"You don't have anything else to do today?"

“There are! This one is quite a bit larger than Jack is, though.” He responded with a light tone, continuing to grow the pile of snow considerably as he spoke.

The question does get a small pause before offering a light nod. “I don’t work at the café today, and have already taken care of other things this morning. The weather seemed inviting enough to spend the afternoon outside.” Sometimes the desire to try new things that might help inspire took a hold of him, and today it was snow sculptures. Later on, he may return indoors to paint a little, but this is one of those few days with little to do otherwise.

"I mean, it's cold," Zack says. Is this inviting? It just reminds him of going north. of the mess that was Modeoheim. Yeah, he doesn't like it.

"I mean, more points to you if this is what your jam is."
