Seas-ing the day
Who; Ignis & you damn it (don't forget to tag in!)
What; Food on the beach
Where; Beach
When; During beach timez
Warnings; N/A
Ignis stood looking over out at the water as the coals were preparing for the food he had nearby. In a container near the heat he had all the ingredients for the food that he planned on cooking for the day.
He planned on making meat, chicken and shrimp along with some veggies which had been marinating for awhile now. Cheeseburgers were plentiful, along with buns, bacon and all manners of condiments. And there were some chicken breasts he planned to grill as well as well as corn. Not going on the grill was a fresh pasta salad or two.
Fresh fruit had been carefully prepared too, although there were no strawberries present, nor would there be. Drinks were plentiful as well as containers for ice. Snacks could be found along with some wraps as well.
Ignis had no idea how many people might come over to get food, so he did have help in bringing all of this to the beach. He'd heard about the beach simply popping up out of nowhere and had checked it out on the back of his chocobo. Once he'd been satisfied he was definitely getting what he considered 'the best spot in the house'.
When someone would come up to check things out, he'd nod with a smile as he got the food going, making sure a drink was handy for the newcomer.
"And how are you today?"

"And how are you today?"

"A monster in a lake?" Ignis asked, catching what Llewellyn was stating here. It wasn't all that odd to him considering massive animals lived near the lake. It would stand to reason in his mind that there might be things lurking and thriving in deeper waters than that.
But he didn't wish to sound an alarm for anyone although he would certainly keep his eyes peeled.

The question gets a small, slightly amused smile. “Yes,in my world, there have been myths about an uh- monster in Lake Ontario for a very long time. They’re only that, though…” As far as he knew, at least. There had been no concrete evidence to suggest it was anything more than a story. “Well- aside from a rather cranky old man trying to chase people away from the beach since he lived near it. Rigged together something to fool people.” It was before his time at Station House 4, but considering the beach was a nice place to spend time for free, he’d still heard tell of the case from those working the area.

But he listened to the myth about the monster in this..lake called Ontario. It almost sounded as if Llewellyn didn't believe in monsters living in lakes, but of course Ignis knew first hand how true it was in his own world. He was amused at the story about the man chasing away people on the beach.
"Do you know what he rigged up to frighten people away?"

Rubbing the side of his face lightly, he tried to recall the details he’d been told. Leaving some of the less pleasant aspects of the case out for his friend. “Well- from what I remember being said… He decorated one of his lobster traps? Covered it in burlap sacks, used a couple fishing glass floats for eyes and a shark skeleton’s jaws. I suppose from a great distance it looked fairly alarming to people.”
no subject
"Well that's rather clever, especially if it worked. But something like that would be more suited to a Halloween costume or something along those lines."
And still, the amusement remained in his tone as he tried to think if something like that could be made here.

That said, there were a lot of things that would easily fool someone from his era. Things of the future would be probably blow their minds, and Llewellyn knew it had been a lot for him to take in and adjust to in the last world.
Llewellyn nodded, though. “It would make a rather odd decoration, I think. Not quite big enough for a costume. Still, it was enough to fool a lot of people, even if it didn’t chase people away from the beach permanently.” At the end of the day, people still loved a beach day. Even all the way back then.

He looked up at Llewellyn once he heard about the decoration and smiled briefly before returning to his prep work. "Well the beach does seem to have that siren appeal to be on it or near it if it's available. So it's no surprise that it wasn't a perpetual diversion."
no subject
He had to agree with Ignis, though. The beach was always calling to people at this time of year if they lived near enough. “You are certainly correct on that front. Inexpensive diversions from the drudgery of one week, and the summers where I’m from tend toward rather unpleasant heatwaves. So many found visiting the beach was always one of the better ways to handle the heat.” At least for other people, Llewellyn still never seemed to even notice the heat compared to everyone else.

He took a look up at the beach when the detective spoke of it and nodded his head. "Indeed. The heat seemed somewhat tolerable if I dare say so myself when we were back home when we were by the beach. There seemed to always be something to do to divert one's attention to something else rather than focus on the heat of the sun."
This of course meant standing around while Noct fished for hours, or fighting giant crabs and cutting out what meat would work for dinner that night. But there were quiet hours for walking on the beach and simply staring at the waves as well.
However, he then gestured with his head to the man's plate. "Do you perchance have more room for more food?"

So far so good.
At the line of questioning, Ignis smiled and simply loaded a plate of sausage, two more cheeseburgers, and he found the macaroni salad he'd put down. Onto a separate plate went tomatoes and lettuce for the burger if wanted.
On another plate, he managed to grab the pretzels he'd just made.
Setting them down one at a time he smiled. "That should work. If you need anything else, let me know."

His eyes widened at the offering. Ignis really hadn’t been kidding when he asked if Llewellyn was still hungry, but it certainly was an appreciated selection. He tended to graze, after all, and this would keep him going well through the afternoon. At the man’s smile and comment, the detective offered one of his own as he took a little of everything to try. “I uh- dare say I should be set for a while, Ignis. But I will, thank you. The pretzels are always a favourite, the ones you make are always excellent.” Because, of course, pretzels were always going to be his favourite of any food selection.

Sans sharks in the sand or whatever ridiculousness that entailed.
Ignis was a little puzzled when he saw Llewellyn's eyes go wide, but he still had to laugh a little. "I will get you a few pretzels and if you happen to take them home with you, at least they won't be orphans here."
And then he moved to do just that.

He grinned at the offer, ducking his head in an appreciative nod. “I certainly could never say no to taking a few home. I know Rhy would uh- enjoy the treat himself, after all.” He had gotten his husband as addicted to them as he was, after all. It was part of how they’d met, really. So he would undoubtedly share should Ignis really send him with extras. It would make for some nice snacks here and there.
They were getting better in the kitchen, but baking was not a skill they’d acquired with the skill to make something like a good pretzel.

Of course Ignis packed up more than a few, and ended up wrapping up at least a dozen. Other goodies were added in too, and again he knew they'd be appreciated. That was the point.
Presenting Llewellyn with a good sized box he smiled. "I threw a few extras in."

He offered the other a smile as he tucked the bag of food under an arm to carry with him. “I will see you around, then. Mm… Have a lovely day, and I thank you again.”
Wrap?
"You're quite welcome. If you need anything else, do let me know."
Because Ignis was all about feeding people. He had told Noct once that he enjoyed the looks of enjoyment on the people's faces that he cooked for. And if that was a way he could make someone's day then so be it.
Sure thing!
