Ignis stood looking over out at the water as the coals were preparing for the food he had nearby. In a container near the heat he had all the ingredients for the food that he planned on cooking for the day.

He planned on making meat, chicken and shrimp along with some veggies which had been marinating for awhile now. Cheeseburgers were plentiful, along with buns, bacon and all manners of condiments. And there were some chicken breasts he planned to grill as well as well as corn. Not going on the grill was a fresh pasta salad or two.

Fresh fruit had been carefully prepared too, although there were no strawberries present, nor would there be. Drinks were plentiful as well as containers for ice. Snacks could be found along with some wraps as well.

Ignis had no idea how many people might come over to get food, so he did have help in bringing all of this to the beach. He'd heard about the beach simply popping up out of nowhere and had checked it out on the back of his chocobo. Once he'd been satisfied he was definitely getting what he considered 'the best spot in the house'.

When someone would come up to check things out, he'd nod with a smile as he got the food going, making sure a drink was handy for the newcomer.

"And how are you today?"

The beach appearing out of nowhere was definitely shocking for a newer arrival such as Haru. A few people had mentioned that events such as these happened, but seeing it was a completely different experience than hearing of it. There was no doubt though that it stirred a certain amount of curiosity in her. It was that curiosity that drove her out there on her own today, with a particular interest in Ignis food stand. Being the now major share owner for a major chain fast food restaurant meant that she found herself with a new found determination to learn more about how such things worked. If she ever wanted to make her dream come true she needed to learn.

"Oh, I'm wonderful, thank you for asking!" she replied with a bright smile. "This all looks simply amazing! Did you do all of it yourself?"

"You know, you could go into the water," Nida said as he put down the last container carried over with their supplies before he had turned Hibiscus out to frolick on the beach. He trusted her at this point. Mostly.

"Here," he said, holding his hand out for the grill tools. "This I can handle if you want to do other prep. When it comes to a fire, I'm not a mess."

Llewellyn hadn’t really intended to linger around the beach, but it was his break time, and curiosity was a powerful thing. It seemed that even after living under the ocean for over a year; he hadn’t developed an aversion to seeing one or spending time near it. Plus, he’d heard work from other beach goers that his friend had set up something of a nice gathering with plenty of food to be enjoyed. One did not turn down the chance to enjoy food cooked by Ignis lightly, after all.

“Mm… Quite well, I think.” He responded with a smile. It had been a while since he’d been particularly social. The potluck had been his easing back in, and the open aired setting of a beach was nice since the detective got antsy when indoors for too long. “And how are you on this fine, sunny day? I uh- see you’ve got quite a lot of delicious things to choose from here today.” He added with a nod to the food the man was cooking.

Ignis turned to his husband and looked over all of the things that had yet to be done before he could relax. The list seemed endless but he was doing a pretty damn good job so far.

At Nida's silent request, he smiled and handed them over. "Have you seen Mono? I might take him to the water if he's willing to go after we get some food into him." And with that, he started getting other stuff prepped. The sooner this was done, the sooner he could see how the boy and the water would get along.

"That's good to hear." Ignis replied swiftly. And seeing this unfamiliar person smile was a good thing. But at her question he had to shake his head. "No, I definitely had some assistance in getting all set up here."

The food however was all him.

"And how are you enjoying the beach? Have you had a chance to go in the water yet or collect seashells?"

Ignis smiled at seeing Llewellyn and inwardly had been been proud of his past self to think ahead. Yes it was hot today and of that there was absolute zero doubt. But there was a small stash of tea and a small stash of coffee there, hidden at the moment as it was.

"I'm well thank you for asking. And don't be shy, there's plenty of food so you don't have to choose except what to have as a first serving."

He loved to eat and he knew Llewellyn did and the advisor figured most people here did. So this was his way of serving the community (literally) and giving back when most of what he did was for coin. There was no charge for any of this food, he bought and paid for it himself.

The funny thing about Llewellyn was that he didn’t really seem to notice the heat. He was dressed as ever, full suit and tie, with no apparent discomfort. It seemed to be a trait he and another certain detective Murdoch shared that was often the source of confusion and bewilderment among their other colleagues who were dying slowly in their wool garments. Questions got them nowhere, because both detectives generally shrugged, unsure why they were being asked and simply not finding it that bad.

“Oh-” He commented, eyes darting to the food already finished and offering a grateful smile. It certainly would save him from having to decide where to go to eat for lunch. “Thank you, Ignis. This all looks quite delicious, unsurprisingly.” He added with a smile, going to select a couple of things for himself from the selection. “I dare say, this has to be one of the more mm… pleasant additions to the city, odd as it is to think a place can grow a beach overnight.” He commented lightly, eyes darting to the shore again.

It wasn't endless when they were together.

"No, I didn't catch sight of him. But I was mostly looking for you and then into the waves. But you'll be able to find him no doubt."

He's pleased, though, that Ignis doesn't subscribe to old wives' tales about cramps.

"How kind of someone to help! You've done an excellent job, it's very impressive!" She looked over the food clearly admiring what he'd made. To his question she nodded.

"I've enjoyed it so far! To be quite honest I have never had much of a chance to go out to a beach before," she said with a tiny smile. The problems of coming from a rather controlling family. "Collecting seashells sounds like a lovely idea though...."

Ignis smiled at hearing his husband was searching for him in the waves. "I'm sure that I will. And the waves can wait it seems, as there's plenty of hungry people to cook for here in the meantime."

He grabbed a few more tomatoes and onions because he wasn't sure there were enough. He set some cheese slices on a small patch of ice and had them separated by wax paper so that they were easy to procure when the time came.

All the while his eyes scanned for Mono.

Ignis smiled at the compliments he was receiving though he honestly hadn't planned on hearing many. However, they were always welcome and were always a nice surprise indeed.

"Why thank you."

But he tuned into hearing about how she'd never had a chance to go out and collect seashells. He planned on doing that with his husband and Mono later when it was cooler. He had some other line cooks coming from the restaurant to help relieve him so that he had that precious time with those he held dearest to him.

"Do you perchance have a bucket or something to collect them in, in order to bring them home with you?"

"Happy to be of service." Ignis smiled. He continued to work on prep as Llewellyn settled himself in for food. And speaking of that, once again his green eyes searched around for a small boy who would no doubt be hungry. And if he didn't happen to catch sight of that wee lad in a few minutes, he could take a moment and call him. Ignis wanted to take the boy seashell collecting when the sun dropped some and he was going to grab his husband for it as well.

Another line cook or two were coming to relieve him a little later so that he could carve that 'family time' out but people could still eat.

The advisor nodded to the beach addition. "I should certainly hope that this world keeps it. It would be a rather pleasant way to spend the summer here." He might not be a huge fan of the heat, but seeing everyone gather here was fun and of course he could hustle his tail bone down here and keep food going if other vendors didn't show up.

“I uh- I agree. It’s a nice addition compared to some I’ve seen. It’s nice to think there might be a new permanent space for one to enjoy the day outdoors. There’s something far more comfortable about it, in my opinion.” He responded, taking another bite before glancing at the shoreline thoughtfully. He used to visit the beach with his brothers sometimes when they were young. It was a nice, free space to enjoy without worrying about someone putting the run to them.

Well… Aside from if they wandered too close to some of the more popular side-shows and contests that ran through the summer on the shores. Children, especially those without money, were not particularly welcome around those.

Humming lightly, he glanced around lightly again. “I can’t help but wonder how this place might take off if it stays around for long. Beach games or attractions and the like weren’t unheard of where I’m from, as well as the food, of course.” He added with a smile, gesturing at Ignis’s current work again.

"I can handle the cooking," Nida repeats. "Have faith in me, my beauty. I'm talented with camp cooking and this is basically that. I had a whole course on it."

Because you had to survive out in the wilds.

"You are welcome, and do trust I mean it!" She knew quite a lot of people who were more hesitant to take compliments (herself included) and so she felt the need to emphasis that she did mean it.

She shook her head. "No, I'm afraid all I brought was this bag here," she tugged at the small white tote bag that was on her shoulder. "Looks like I'll have a plan for coming back another day though!"

He nodded. "I've heard tell of things called beach food. And the only thing that comes to mind is pizza. But I'm hearing things about fried dough, and of course pretzels." There was a smile at the detective with that because he'd first heard of them from the man himself. Those were easily enough made. "But what is that in your world if you have it?"

The information couldn't hurt.

And once he heard Llewellyn speaking about the beach games, he grabbed a tomato and began slicing it as he smiled with the detective's gesture. "Perhaps there will be another fair or I do believe they called it a carnival. It would be rather nice to be able to take in and focus on more pleasant things even if for just a little while."

"I do trust you at your word." Ignis smiled. It was nice to hear compliments even so far away from the restaurant. He was told about compliments there, but those who didn't know he cooked, the advisor would say he would 'pass it on', never revealing who that really was. However if it was for someone else, he definitely passed the word on.

Looking at the girl now he looked over at the tote bag that had been indicated. "I suppose we might have a remedy for that then." Ignis replied with a nod. He bent down behind the counter and procured a sturdy bag and handed it over.

"I didn't happen to use this for anything, so you'll be able to bring your treasures home now."

Ignis smiled at his husband and leaned over to give him a quick kiss on the cheek even if his own cheeks had pinkened with the 'beauty' comment. "Of course I have faith in you. But I can certainly make your life easier while you do so."

Which meant more prep work and that was that task that he set to.

Oh he should just accept being called a beauty, because it was so excessively true. Stunningly beautiful in Nida's mind.

"You make my life easier by existing within it, my Starlight," Nida answered with a smile.

“Oh?” Pizza? Llewellyn couldn’t remember seeing pizza at the beach before. There was only one person in Toronto who sold it, though, since the food hadn’t quite taken off yet. A bite for a penny or a whole slice for a nickel. The question gets a small pause, though, he hadn’t really even taken time to go to the beach in his world in some time… Probably didn’t help that his circle had gotten rather small and certain people didn’t wish to be seen with him in anywhere particular. “Mm… Usually vendors from the park move closer to the beach, hot dogs- and pretzels as you suggested. Then there was always a stall that sold snow cones- shaved ice with syrup, that is.” He responded with a light gesture, things easily enjoyed at the beach and some cooler treats to enjoy in the heat.

Watching as Ignis began working on something, he took a bite of food and considered the idea. “It was a rather odd event, certainly, but something similar, a little more geared towards a day at the beach, would be fun. I’m sure a lot of people would enjoy the uh- relaxing and light atmosphere.” Though even this much was a nice change from some of the more serious situations that had sprung up in the last few months, rumors of sand sharks aside.

"Sno cones. It seems I've heard of those at the carnival." It was also the first time he'd heard of cotton candy. And of course those wonderful spinning machines were gone now and he had no way to replicate them unless he researched it rather thoroughly.

And that was always a thought.

Still, he nodded at hearing more of what Llewellyn was familiar with. If hot dogs and pretzels and pizza were good enough, that's where he could start. And fries crossed his mind as he considered the fried dough as well. There were a lot of interesting and tasty possibilities afoot.

Smiling at the detective as he heard about the atmosphere, Ignis smirked. "It's relaxing until people do realize sun burn can be quite a thing to deal with." Which was why he had reminded Noctis about putting on sun screen when they were out on the royal yacht.

That had Ignis laugh a little self consciously. "I do believe your mouth is running away with you today darling, even if I find I'm rather enjoying it." He shook his head a little and bent down to finish his task with the tomatoes.

Picking up his chosen knife, he smiled. "But I do believe I'm rather fond of that name considering it recalls those cookies we made that night."

"Is it?" he asks, smiling. "I don't think so. I think that maybe my mouth is happily occupying myself with little touches of truth. But..."

HE offers his love a look of fondness over his shoulder.

"It does. But more than that, it speaks to how your light guides me in the darkness."

“Yes, I suppose that is a good point.” He responded on the subject of sunburns. The detective didn’t tend to need to worry about that given he dressed as he did, hat shading his face and neck slightly and full suit with a high standing collar of his time. Unlike most beach goers who tended to show… A lot more skin than people did in his era. Swimwear sure had changed over the years…

That had been a rather fun thing to get used to back at the Sphere, but he was mostly used to it now. “People do seem to tend to mm… forget about the sun and how harsh it can be in favour of spending the day under it.”

Humming lightly, he took another bite and considered the people on the shore again. “Not that I blame them, I uh- suppose with everything that goes on in the day to day, it’s easy to get caught up in a good time.”

Ignis smiled and moved to get a few meat patties ready to grill for the cheeseburgers that were going to show up soon. He wasn't going to get out of this place for some time and that was no one's fault but his own, as he'd signed himself up for this. But it was worth noting that others had definitely not thought about it as people went by them with red skin that had been exposed.

"Fun is all well and good, but caution still needs to be the order of the day in the heat of the sun."

Looking at Llewellyn, the advisor smiled. "Surely you're going to get out there at some point with your husband, yes?"
