[It's late in the afternoon when Jacob finally decides to make a general call to the residence of the city. He has the information that he needs to know and he trusts that everything else will come with time. He isn't in a rush and when he makes his call he's calm.
Jcaob is wearing his new fall threads, a dusty brown jacket with a dark blue scarf loosely wrapped around his neck. He's still unshaven but his hair has been brushed and is now pointed in the same direction. It's dark behind him but easy to see the warm hazel glint in his eyes.]
It's a beautiful night out. There are a lot of stars. [It's unclear where he is but he tilts the screen to show hundreds of little dots of light freckling a blanket of black.] Hopefully this doesn't wake anyone. I've become a bit of a night owl.
[Night wasn't a safe time of day for someone who can't see in the dark.]
I got my job back at Gary's carpentry but I honestly want to do something more than make furniture. If you need anything, let me know. I was a mechanic before this. So I can work with just about anything.
Seriously, anything.
[It's amazing how easily he fell back into his life here.]
Ah, yeah. [He grins.] It's Jacob. If you don't know me but want to find me.
I consider myself pretty easy to find.
[ooc: If you want to do an action, feel free to tag my test drive post. I'm keeping it as game canon since it's my umbrella for general arrival interactions.]

Ok that was different. And why was Jacob involving Nida sensei into this somehow? "You have bad luck?" Well going home might be a thing, but..whatever really. So at the other's words, Yuki stepped over the string. And then his hand was taken and that meant the world to him but he focused on the blankets in his other arm.
His eyes then went up to the beautiful sky above them and as he looked around he couldn't help but smile. "This is a great spot." But at the question, Yuki had to let go of Jacob's hand and put the other three down. I brought four. We can use two or three for the ground and the other one or two are to cover up in case we get cold."
[Action]
Jacob picked up the bottle and tucked it under his shoulder. "Let me help." He grabbed the edges of one of the blankets and helped Yuki spread it across the patch of grass. He waited a heartbeat and then the second blanket was laid on top of that. The blankets were slightly different sizes but it created a comfortable place for them to sit without the moisture of the grass soaking into their clothes.
Once the blankets were spread out, Jacob sat the bottle at the blanket's edge and then once again took Yuki's hand. He hadn't held another's someone's hand like this but it felt natural like Yuki's hand was met to fit in his.
"Thank you for meeting me out here." It was short notice but Jacob couldn't help himself. He wanted to spend as much time with Yuki as he could. Time hadn't dimmed his attraction but made it harder to resist.
[Action]
But then his hand was taken again and he really wasn't sure what to make of it, but he took the small backpack with the food in it and set it down with the free hand he had. His expression became puzzled at Jacob's words but he tried to fight it. "Uhm..you're welcome. You invited me out here, remember?"
Why did this seem so formal?
[Action]
"Come on." He took a seat and then gently tugged Yuki down to the blanket with him. It took some shifting but Jacob was soon sitting at the center of the blanket, his eyes steadily fixed on Yuki. He wasn't going to let go of Yuki's hand until the other man was next to him.
"I brought something to drink but I don't remember you drinking a lot." Jacob didn't drink a lot because he didn't want to impair his senses but he's yet to tell Yuki that he smokes. It would soon become obvious but Jacob wasn't sure if it would bother Yuki. It was just one of those things that had changed since he'd last been in the city.
It worried him and made him nervous but he wanted to at least let Yuki know how he felt. It was okay if Yuki didn't feel the same way.
[Action]
But the look left his face when he got tugged down. And after he sat, he realized Jacob hadn't let go of his hand which was throwing him off. If he took his hand away would that look as if he didn't want the touch? Shouldn't he pull away out of politeness? He couldn't really figure any of this out and of course this was new to him. What should he do?
Thankfully Jacob distracted him and he shook his head. "What did you bring?" He had no idea if it was drinkable by his standards or if Jacob's were different somehow. Funny there was so much he realized he didn't know.
[Action]
He really wasn't good at this sort of thing.
Jacob released Yuki's hand but scooted a bit closer. He didn't want to be far from Yuki but it felt as if he needed to come up with excused for them to be in contact. His thoughts drifted to his first day back into the city, when Yuki and him had held each other close. It was a bittersweet memory, heavy with complications, but no less precious.
Lost in his thoughts, he lifted his free hand and gently brushed his fingers along Yuki's jaw, tucking a stray piece of hair behind the other man's ear. "Do you want some?" His voice softened but he didn't pull away. It was terrifying but Jacob remained close, giving Yuki a chance to answer his touch.
[Action]
Anything further than that left as his brain scrambled. Jacob had his hand on his face and Yuki had no idea what to do. "Uh..sure."
Was there another answer he was supposed to give here?
[Action]
"I have a confession." He spoke in a low voice, shifting closer to Yuki after handing off the bottle. "But I felt like I had to wait for the right moment." So when Yuki agreed to meet him tonight, he decided to create the moment he was waiting for.
"I want you to know how important you are to me. The things I couldn't say before and if it isn't too troublesome, I'd like to say those things now." Jake felt his pulse quicken as he fought to steady his breathing. He'd never confessed to anyone before, let alone with the complicated space between him and Yuki but he wasn't willing to wait.
Time could be a blessing or an enemy.

But then he looked over at Jacob once he heard the part about a confession. What could he possibly want to confess? "Uhm...what did you want to say?" Was there something wrong? It didn't seem like it but then again maybe he was totally lost with all of this stuff anyhow.
And of course hearing what he'd never heard before was quite different than what he thought he might hear. So for a moment his jaw felt like it was just sitting there on the ground but he smiled gently. "I'm listening."

Being unable to speak, Jacob leaned slowly leaned forward. His breath brushed lightly against Yuki's cheek as he paused, giving Yuki time to pull away before he closed the distance between them.
It was warm and every inch of him responded happily to the touch. It was different from the contact he'd experienced in the past. It felt as if the tatters of his soul were piecing themselves back together instead of continually pulling him apart.
After a short kiss, Jacob pulled away, leaving an inch between them as he softly voiced his confession. "I like you." Maybe it was love or soon to bloom into such an overwhelming and unfamiliar sensation. Whatever this feeling was, it was worth chasing after.

Of course once he was done convincing himself that Jacob had actually in fact kissed him, he smiled shyly. "I like you too." He was happy that it was darker out because of how red his face was at the moment. But if this was Jacob's plan all along, it was a pretty romantic one.
"Thank you."

"I can't promise you much but I'll try my best." There was so little that they could control here but Jacob was going to do what he could. Even if it wouldn't last forever, he'd make memories that would forever reside in their hearts. And if they were forgotten, those memories would still be there.
That's what he hoped.
"You know, I should have probably asked if you liked wine." He knew that Yuki liked tea but that would have been more difficult to carry into the park.

He had to laugh a little at the promise. "I don't recall asking you to promise me anything." And he really couldn't. Life here was fleeting and as much as it bugged him he was more than aware that Nida sensei was betting on being able to go back with his husband to his home and live out his life there. Originally Yuki had thought it senseless, but seeing that man walk and talk and smile whenever his husband was mentioned had slowly changed Yuki's mind. And then there had been the wedding.
So he said nothing and just shook his head. "It's okay to think everyone likes the same things that you do." Because that's all he had done when he first arrived. And oh how his eyes had been opened.

If his life truly wanted him to be miserable and he did disappeared again, then knowing how he felt would be all that Jacob could leave with Yuki.
It was important.
His lips pulled into a smile while his fingers absently toyed with the tips of Yuki's silver hair. They had come out here to look at the stars but Jacob hadn't been able to take his eyes off of his cute companion. "It isn't that. I choose what I thought you'd like but it was just a guess. I'm more partial to beer or straight liquor." He didn't think that Yuki would have enjoyed that.

But Jacob had returned to pick him up and walk him to work which was a completely sweet gesture that Yuki loved and cherished that memory all day with him while at work. He kept telling himself to relax but the thoughts of being left behind again still nipped at his heels, even if he wouldn't ever mention it out loud.
He didn't comment on the liquor or beer but shook his head. "It's alright. You didn't know and you did your best."

Jake put his arm around Yuki's slender shoulders after another quick swig from the bottle of wine. "We came out to see the stars. Should we lay down? We can keep each other warm." Holding Yuki the day he had returned to the city had quickly become one of his fondest memories.
"Come on, we can use one of the blankets you brought as a pillow."
no subject
In a sense, all of this was new to him, but he told himself to stop being a child and smiled. "Laying down is fine." Even if as he said that, he felt nervous and wondered if this was a good idea.
And at Jacob's suggestion, he grabbed one of the other blankets and started fussing with that because it gave his nerves something to focus on.
no subject
Maybe he was doing it wrong?
"Are you okay? If you don't want to hug we don't have too." Jake had thought it was okay since they had hugged when Jacob had first arrived but perhaps the kiss was too much. He wouldn't push Yuki but at the same time he wanted to be close to him.
How did people do this?
It was a strange train of thought because it wasn't something that Jake had ever had to think of before.
He chewed at the inside of his cheek but kept his features as calm as he could manage, to show to Yuki that he would support him and accept him as he was. Which included anything he was comfortable with.
no subject
How could he explain that this was just all new and he wasn't sure what to do or how to do it? Or that he might accidentally do something wrong? Of course he was also mentally chiding himself, telling himself not to be a child and made himself recall all the nights where he'd cried alone and cried himself to sleep, begging whoever was listening to just give him another chance.
And here he was with it and fumbling. Good job.
Finally he just gave up and his shoulders slumped in an almost sort of acceptance and defeat.
"Sorry."
no subject
"You never have to apologize to me Yuki. Ever. I just want you to be comfortable around me." He cracked an awkward smile as he laid down and waited for Yuki to get comfortable; whatever that entailed. "I'm actually not very good at this. I've never- not that I've never done anything but this is- well, you're the only person I've ever dated." He hadn't wanted to date in middle school and he'd never gotten to enjoy high school.
He missed a lot and only had movies to base his actions on.
"Just- let me know if I do something wrong." That was probably a big ask but Jake wasn't sure what else to say. He didn't want Yuki to think that he'd done anything wrong.

And for a moment he thought of all the fangirls and fanboys of his own back home but it wasn't because he was handsome. It was because people were convinced he was pretty and some sort of Prince which was really dumb and only served to further isolate him.
But then there was a confession there. And he hadn't really gotten to date Machi because of his curse. Of course it broke on the day he'd been about to tell her because that was fair. So his head turned away and he smiled again. "I've never really dated anyone either. I gave her a kiss and I really liked her..but we didn't really date."
He'd planned to and then this place happened.
"So I won't really know if you're doing something wrong."

He had never felt this way before and he looked forward to what feelings Yuki would introduce him too.
"Just tell me what you feel." Jake leaned forward and kissed Yuki's temple before settling back on the ground, his gaze finally flitting to the stars. "If something makes you uncomfortable, let me know, and I'll do the same. As long as we tell each other, it'll work out." He was confident though he had no right to be. Possible because he had waited so long to feel the warmth of Yuki's skin next to his.
"I like being close to you." They were light touches but it was important to Jacob. He hadn't been this close to anyone in a long time.
no subject
How he felt. He could start with giddy, lighthearted, grateful, confused, and yet scared to lose Jacob again. And then of course he felt..what was the right word? Smitten? Like whenever he appeared, nothing and no one else in the world mattered. And whenever Jacob left him, he always immediately wanted to text the man and tell him that he missed him. But he hadn't because that was too much too soon.
Yuki wanted to talk to sensei about this to do a sort of reality check, but he had the feeling that it wasn't going to be anything other than a teasing thing. And so he was on his own with this. But he'd been on his own with Machi as well so it was okay really. And then again maybe the other wasn't looking for an answer right at the moment so he tried to relax a little and looked back over at the other. "I can do that."
Of course he smiled at hearing the confession and moved closer so that he was right next to Jacob. "I like being close to you too." It was comforting and warm and welcome in ways he hadn't ever really known.

Jacob squeezed Yuki tightly to him and looked up at the stars. He felt at peace, for the first time since he'd been kidnapped at the age of 13. "That's all I'll ask of you Yuki. If you can be honest with me. I'll be honest with you too. We'll get to know each other, grow closer. We might fight but I know that we'll work through it." He suddenly knew where his confidence came from.
"I know it'll work out because I've liked you for over a year. Even when we were separated." It'd taken time for him to get the memories back but he had and he hadn't stopped caring for Yuki.
no subject
A lifetime without it was kind of hard to get used to but he would work through it. He was more than aware of his flaws and smiled a little when he heard the comment about fighting. "I'm really not interested in that, but I'm sure it'll happen." And if things went the way they had, they would probably argue over Yuki being too worried about him.
The last bit softened him and he looked at Jacob. "If I have any say, you're not going anywhere."
