aterat | 001 [Network: Video]

[It's late in the afternoon when Jacob finally decides to make a general call to the residence of the city. He has the information that he needs to know and he trusts that everything else will come with time. He isn't in a rush and when he makes his call he's calm.

Jcaob is wearing his new fall threads, a dusty brown jacket with a dark blue scarf loosely wrapped around his neck. He's still unshaven but his hair has been brushed and is now pointed in the same direction. It's dark behind him but easy to see the warm hazel glint in his eyes.]

It's a beautiful night out. There are a lot of stars. [It's unclear where he is but he tilts the screen to show hundreds of little dots of light freckling a blanket of black.] Hopefully this doesn't wake anyone. I've become a bit of a night owl.

[Night wasn't a safe time of day for someone who can't see in the dark.]

I got my job back at Gary's carpentry but I honestly want to do something more than make furniture. If you need anything, let me know. I was a mechanic before this. So I can work with just about anything.

Seriously, anything.

[It's amazing how easily he fell back into his life here.]

Ah, yeah. [He grins.] It's Jacob. If you don't know me but want to find me.

I consider myself pretty easy to find.

Jacob paused, trying to figure out what to say. He hadn't wanted an apology but direction. It seemed that Yuki was as lost as he was.

"You never have to apologize to me Yuki. Ever. I just want you to be comfortable around me." He cracked an awkward smile as he laid down and waited for Yuki to get comfortable; whatever that entailed. "I'm actually not very good at this. I've never- not that I've never done anything but this is- well, you're the only person I've ever dated." He hadn't wanted to date in middle school and he'd never gotten to enjoy high school.

He missed a lot and only had movies to base his actions on.

"Just- let me know if I do something wrong." That was probably a big ask but Jake wasn't sure what else to say. He didn't want Yuki to think that he'd done anything wrong.

When Jacob spoke, Yuki's head turned. He hadn't expected to look at the man so soon but he smiled almost apologetically even if the words didn't come out of his mouth. But then his eyes widened in surprise as he heard Jacob's confession and his mind swam. Surely people had basically been trying to beat this guy's door down or blow up his phone with either texts or calls containing so many invitations and requests for dates.

And for a moment he thought of all the fangirls and fanboys of his own back home but it wasn't because he was handsome. It was because people were convinced he was pretty and some sort of Prince which was really dumb and only served to further isolate him.

But then there was a confession there. And he hadn't really gotten to date Machi because of his curse. Of course it broke on the day he'd been about to tell her because that was fair. So his head turned away and he smiled again. "I've never really dated anyone either. I gave her a kiss and I really liked her..but we didn't really date."

He'd planned to and then this place happened.

"So I won't really know if you're doing something wrong."

Jake felt an odd mixture of sensations. He didn't like the idea of Yuki kissing another person but he felt a weight lifted at the thought that neither of them knew what they were doing. It was a strange mix and as someone who wasn't used to these feelings, he couldn't identify the mixture as good or bad. It was just different and after a moment he felt himself smile.

He had never felt this way before and he looked forward to what feelings Yuki would introduce him too.

"Just tell me what you feel." Jake leaned forward and kissed Yuki's temple before settling back on the ground, his gaze finally flitting to the stars. "If something makes you uncomfortable, let me know, and I'll do the same. As long as we tell each other, it'll work out." He was confident though he had no right to be. Possible because he had waited so long to feel the warmth of Yuki's skin next to his.

"I like being close to you." They were light touches but it was important to Jacob. He hadn't been this close to anyone in a long time.

He blinked a few times and thought about how to respond, but Jacob's kiss to his temple just blocked his ability to think coherently for a minute. Yuki then looked over at him when he mentioned the uncomfortable part and had to try to smile before turning away shyly in an attempt to refocus on how he felt.

How he felt. He could start with giddy, lighthearted, grateful, confused, and yet scared to lose Jacob again. And then of course he felt..what was the right word? Smitten? Like whenever he appeared, nothing and no one else in the world mattered. And whenever Jacob left him, he always immediately wanted to text the man and tell him that he missed him. But he hadn't because that was too much too soon.

Yuki wanted to talk to sensei about this to do a sort of reality check, but he had the feeling that it wasn't going to be anything other than a teasing thing. And so he was on his own with this. But he'd been on his own with Machi as well so it was okay really. And then again maybe the other wasn't looking for an answer right at the moment so he tried to relax a little and looked back over at the other. "I can do that."

Of course he smiled at hearing the confession and moved closer so that he was right next to Jacob. "I like being close to you too." It was comforting and warm and welcome in ways he hadn't ever really known.

"Good." He felt the smile crawling across his mouth before realizing that he was grinning like an idiot. He couldn't help himself. He was happy to be here with Yuki. It didn't matter that their time together had an expiration date. He was going to make the best of what he was given and he was going to try his best to make Yuki happy.

Jacob squeezed Yuki tightly to him and looked up at the stars. He felt at peace, for the first time since he'd been kidnapped at the age of 13. "That's all I'll ask of you Yuki. If you can be honest with me. I'll be honest with you too. We'll get to know each other, grow closer. We might fight but I know that we'll work through it." He suddenly knew where his confidence came from.

"I know it'll work out because I've liked you for over a year. Even when we were separated." It'd taken time for him to get the memories back but he had and he hadn't stopped caring for Yuki.

Yuki had to smile. Jacob definitely sounded like he knew what he wanted which was a change. But it was a good change and he didn't mind it at all. He enjoyed the squeeze even if he was still trying to get used to affection.

A lifetime without it was kind of hard to get used to but he would work through it. He was more than aware of his flaws and smiled a little when he heard the comment about fighting. "I'm really not interested in that, but I'm sure it'll happen." And if things went the way they had, they would probably argue over Yuki being too worried about him.

The last bit softened him and he looked at Jacob. "If I have any say, you're not going anywhere."

"Of course." Jacob turned his head and smiled at Yuki. "Why would I go anywhere?"

He did have family back on his version of Earth but they would understand. He had searched the world to find where he belonged in it and the only peace he got was with Yuki at his side. He wasn't going to leave if he had the option to stay by Yuki's side. He hoped that Yuki knew how important this was to him.

It was hard to open his heart but Yuki had found his way in before Jacob had even realized it. At first, it had scared him but now he was glad. If he could have loved anyone in the world, he was happy that it was Yuki. "You're the most important thing to be Yuki." Though he would like to send his family a note to let them know that he's happy.

He only smiled because he didn't want to get into things he didn't want to think about at the moment. Tonight seemed almost magical and he didn't want to ruin it with reality. Reality was reality and there as no denying it of course but he wasn't trying to worry about that right at the moment.

Jacob's words made him slightly turned red of course. Somehow this man had an easy way of doing that. Only Shigure with his suggestive comments had the ability to do that, which unfortunately had been in front of Miss Honda once. He really wanted to smack the Dog a lot when that had happened.

All he could do at the moment was smile because all of the other things..they were just not going to be something that he did even if he really wanted to.. "I'm going to remind you that you said that for when you get mad at me."

Jacob didn't know what their future would hold but he was happy. In this moment, how ever fleeting, everything was perfect. He was able to tell Yuki how he felt and those feelings were returned. The future was hazy and likely rife with conflict but he believed that they could find a way to make it through.

"I don't know about that." He teased lightly. "I think I can get mad, even if you're my favorite person here." Jake leaned down and pressed another kiss to Yuki's temple. He then turned and looked up at the stars, taking a deep breath.
