For Nida -

Today was a day that they both had off, so after breakfast, Ignis had cleaned up and got some coffee brewing. He had made quite the list in preparation for their joint meeting today and he kept having the sense of time ticking until they exchanged vows.

Clothing was sorted, food was still up in the air on some things but Ignis could whip up a lot of things in a hurry. The guest list was still to be determined, though they had spoken about a place to hold the wedding. Hopefully, the weather would cooperate and they could marry outside. But as to who was going to marry them, that was a thing that they needed to discuss too. And Ignis needed to clarify their theme and colours.

Outside - OTA

Ignis is walking around outside and is watching a few of the leaves fall. A few are turning colours and it marks the passage of time to him that he's been here almost a year. It's really strange to think about how simply landing in another world has completely changed said world. So he can be found looking at some trees just beyond a park bench. And as yet another leaf falls he smiles.

"It's quite the lovely time of year isn't it?"

“It’s kinda weird? Like… It’s summer but the trees are starting to think it’s not.” Mono commented, darting to snag one of the leaves that had dropped from a tree. The leaf was a neat mixture of green and flecks of yellow as it started to change colour.

… The kid still wrinkled his nose at the ones with shots of red in them, he did not like those ones. Red was still not a colour he liked, and he wasn’t entirely sure how to answer why if he was ever asked.

“There weren’t really trees like these in the Pale City… But before the other place got scary, the dry and crackly ones were kinda fun to run through if there wasn’t anything scary around.” Forests and crunchy leaves were less fun when you had to be sneaky. But he hurried back to Ignis’ side, still holding the leaf up to look at. “What’re you doing out here, Mister Ignis? Are you going somewhere?”

For Nida

So Mono had seen this guy around for a while, but Mono also didn’t tend to approach people unless he had been given a reason to if they appeared to need real help, he accidentally bumped into them, or if he’d already spoken to them on the network.

Nida was someone Mono had been curious about, but hadn’t really worked up the nerve to meet. The kid just felt kind of weird about it since he wasn’t sure if Nida even knew he existed and that Ignis had been sending him the odd meal for a few months now. Money was not easily earned here, and he wasn’t sure what the man thought of the arrangement himself.

Then there was the fact that he was apparently going to marry Ignis, and Mono kind of went into his hyper-observant mode when Ignis told him about that back at the flower festival. He was a little sneak that liked to make sure that some people were exactly as they were painted to be before he trusted them. Ignis was great! Ignis deserved to be happy! Adults in relationships, from what he could tell in this world, were quite happy! So, in his childish way, he had been judging Nida for the better part of several months.

His people skills? They needed a little more developing. Came of being 10 and from a warped, borderline apocalyptic cityscape where there weren’t really a lot of actual people left. But the last few months had at least… Improved him a lot.

This improvement meant that the kid was finally working up the nerve to just walk up to him and say hi, or whatever came out of his mouth first. It seemed kind of important since the wedding was getting closer and he still looked up to Ignis and being liked by this other guy seemed kind of important.

Sorry, sir. There’s a kid standing in the square just waiting for you to leave the building. At least he’s not wearing the paper bag today. Just his little newsboy hat and grubby trench coat, looking like the wee urchin he was. He was slightly nervous and so he probably looked more serious than one would expect.

Llewellyn was out and about, taking Pretzel for his in-between walkies since it was his afternoon to keep an eye on his and Rhy’s little fluff-butt. He liked to work some of the energy out of the little guy before they headed for whichever place he was working that day, today being Aerith’s garden-shop for the afternoon.

He had a lot of energy, and undoubtedly when he grew and gained some weight, he’d literally be tugging Llewellyn through the city considering how unsteady the detective was on his feet sometimes. But for now, the pup was limited in his freedom by a little leash they had a leather-worker fashion for them in the city. Ignis’ comment catches his attention as he slowed his step and gave Pretzel the command to sit. “It’s quite lovely, yes… I rather missed the change in seasons, even if I’m not fond of the days growing shorter.”

Pretzel, who hadn’t even EXPERIENCED the change in seasons before (the sphere did not have seasons) was fascinated by these stray leaves starting to fall… And by fascinated, we mean he was trying to figure out if they were edible.

Coffee. Nida often slept in late on mornings he hadn't worked, and while breakfast had been good, he wasn't alive until coffee. This morning he hadn't bothered to get out of his favorite robe and he held his coffee close.

"Alright, beloved of mine, list time. Let me borrow that beautiful mind of yours that I so love."

Ah. The child. Nida had been aware of his on again off again tail, but since hte kid had never bothered to harass anyone, Nida had mostly ignored it. But this morning, coming out with Ignis on his arm, he had seen the boy and realized something was different today.

Nida paused to whisper in Ignis's ear that he would catch up and then peeled off to see Mono.

"Are we changing the rules now? Maybe asking me to stop climbing really awkward things when you're being my personal shadow?"

Okay, this made his whole approach easier... But also somehow harder, as he tried to think of what to say as the man walked over to address him. Did he go with Hi? Or Hello? Or... “The rules always change, mister. Or... I guess sometimes the rules aren’t what ya think they are in the first place.” And assuming you knew, all the rules had proven to be quite dangerous to the kid in the past.

“And I don’t mind climbing, I climb lots of stuff already.” ... Mono admittedly had a lot of fun following Nida around, even if he’d been doing it for a more serious reason. He tugged the brim of his hat a little lower as he tried to explain himself. But then? Then he looked up sharply as a sudden realization broke through the kid’s nerves. “Wait! You knew I was following you?”

He thought he heard a dog, but hadn't turned around because several people were walking their canine companions today it seemed. None of it bothered Ignis though and he wished he'd somehow gotten Ebony used to the harness. However, any time he attempted it, he felt as if he were fighting with her and that wasn't something that he wanted to do at all.

But the leaves changing even if it wasn't as dramatic as it would be normally in the Fall meant the time was growing closer.

Married

Of all of the things that Ignis imagined, being a married man hadn't ever been one of them.

But at the sound of the detective's voice, Ignis turned and saw the man with his dog. "Ah. You'll soon see autumn in all of its beautiful splendor here."

Nida could've walked around the house in naught but one of his shirts as he'd done on occasion. Of course whether the shirt had been one of his own or one of Ignis' the result would've been the same, and their wedding planning would've been quite delayed.

But his notebooks were ready, and he'd written plenty while at work in his favourite notebook so he was more than prepared for this day and had been looking forward to it. He'd even gotten some advice from some of the married hunters who cared to share their wedding stories with him.

One had to do proper research after all.

Smiling to Nida now, Ignis stole a quick kiss. "And where would you prefer to start with our plans?"

He smiled as Mono came along and started snagging leaves off of the tree as he darted to and fro. This was something the advisor wondered if others had the chance to see, a boy simply being a boy and getting outside in the sunshine while Summer gave its last bit of warmth. It wouldn't be long before a great many of the leaves changed colours and fell as they'd done last year and silently he admitted he was waiting a bit for christmas.

But that was a long way off now.

He visually inspected the leaf the boy held up and shook his head. "I'm out enjoying the sunshine and the scenery as it were. And what about you? Are you enjoying the warm weather?"

Llewellyn smiled a little. “A poetic way to put it, but yes. There’s something about the fall colours and the crispness of it all that inspires it.” The detective preferred spring, and he liked the longer days of the summer. But fall was lovely, especially the foods born from fall harvests and the colours in the trees... Winter would be the real test this year, though. The one season he wasn’t fond of. Llewellyn was anxious when it got colder and the nights darker. The days were so short, and bad things usually happened... But now he had Rhy, who’d never experienced winter, and he was hoping to make things better here than they had been at home.

But first, the fall. “The park will be quite lovely. It reminds me of Queens Park in my world... Well, at least a little.” He hummed a bit, “And so will the paths leading to the hunter’s lodge, I don’t doubt.” He frowned a bit as he glanced down, “Hey- no.. Bud that’s not food.” He mumbled, excusing himself for a moment as he tugged a leaf out of Pretzel’s mouth.

Mono tilted his head a little, glancing back at the sky that was wonderfully clear. He was glad to hear that Ignis wasn’t going anywhere; he didn’t like just catching the man when he was on his way to work. Mono still couldn’t bring himself to go near the place. Fear was a terrible thing...

But he smiled at the question. “Yeah! It’s really nice out, and I never got to see the sun like this before.” Mono wasn’t sure how long it had been since the Pale City was wrapped in its perpetual fog... Certainly longer than he’d been alive, he was pretty sure. “Even when it rains it all dries up so fast, it makes climbing and running around a lot easier.”

He couldn't help but smile at being called poetic. He didn't consider himself poetic, but he could turn a phrase or word. Still, the compliment ran through him and he thought of the different foods that would be available in the coming months. Autumn was also the time that Nida had proposed dating which had been the last thing on Ignis' mind. Or it was really more like it hadn't even crossed his mind in the slightest to court anyone here.

Looking at Llewellyn now, the advisor's blondish head cocked to the side as he listened. He had no idea what Queens Park was other than the obvious perhaps. But he did smile at hearing about the hunter's lodge. It was a lovely chocobo ride to work every day for him now. And he was about to acknowledge as such when suddenly their attention was turned towards the dog who was trying to chew a fallen leaf.

So he nodded towards the pup. "He's certainly an adorable sort of rascal."

"Well Autumn will be here with plenty of rain." And that caused Ignis to wonder. "Do you perhaps own an umbrella or a raincoat?"

Those questions of course led to more questions in his mind but those would come a bit later. Right now it was far more important to see the boy being a boy. Adult worries would simply have to percolate on the side for the moment.

He once again thought back to Namine and how she needed all of those clothes. Unfortunately she hadn't been here long and he ended up donating them to a local charity for young girls.

Llewellyn couldn’t help pointing things like that out. Words, how people expressed things, languages, they were something that he tended to fixate on. Of course, he didn’t quite see the way Ignis cocked his head at the comment about the park, where he was focused on stopping Pretzel from making a leaf salad. It was, indeed, the obvious. A sprawling park where Llewellyn had spent much of his time in Toronto, a park that had been more of an office than any station house and a haven when he needed it… So it was nice to have something similar here, and that he could spend time in it with people who actually wanted to spend time with him for more than work. Unfortunate that he had yet to meet anyone who knew the place, but he knew by now most worlds were different.

The comment gets a curious glance up, casting the recovered leaves aside.

… And yes, Pretzel took his owner’s distraction as an excuse to try again.

“Thank you, he’s quite the little fiend at times… And he uses his charm to get what he wants from me and Rhy.” Llewellyn joked, before reaching to snag the last leaf away before straightening. “This is uh- Pretzel. The pup I mentioned to you a while back? Surprised us recently… But he’s never seen… Well- most things considering nature, wildlife and seasons weren’t a thing for him to experience before.”

Mono actually pouted a little at that. “Really? That’s less fun… I already got to see a lot of rain and fog before.” Somehow, someone might want to show the kid how to enjoy the rain like a kid would.

Now the question gets a little hum. Was there a right or a wrong answer to this question? This seemed like it might be… But he finally shook his head. “Nah, I just got these.” He responded, gesturing to himself, his grubby old coat and clothes that he usually ran around in. “I got my hats, and my coat, and my shirt, and my pants… And the TV clicker. But that’s all I got.” Though he perked up a little, “One of my hats is a rain hat, though?”

Delayed can happen later. For now Nida was going to be scantily clad and very focused. Under the table his feet kicked up to be in Ignis's lap and he leaned his head on a hand as he thought.

"Colors. That's supposed to be a thing, right?"

"Indeed they do," Nida answered. Smart kid. And in a way that made him half sad, though he didn't let the smile fade. Not smiling would help no one here.

The man crossed his arms over his chest mostly to keep himself from mentioning of course he had and being snappy about it. It's not fair to so do.

"I've got very sharp eyes, and even sharper ears. I knew from the first day. But you didn't seem to mean any harm, so I let it go. But clearly something's changed, as you noted. What's up?"

At the mention of sharp eyes and ears, Mono nodded in agreement. Clearly, Nida was a much sharper adult. It was... a little scary in a way, being caught or noticed was bad news usually... But clearly Nida hadn’t reacted in the way Mono was used to when noticed. “You gotta be really sharp! Most adults don’t pay enough attention to stuff around them here. They make following them easy.”

He continued quickly, “Yeah, I don’t mean any harm! I just... kinda startle people here sometimes. I only hurt people who hurt me or my friend.” Nida was right, something had changed, and he probably had to explain that. Fussing at a worn button on his coat, he fell silent for a moment.

Mono wanted to figure out how to explain it in a way that made sense. A few adults already made him feel pretty weird. “Well... Mr. Ignis has been sending me food and stuff, and he’s really nice to me... And he told me about you- I think he likes you a lot!” Obviously, Mono. “But I like to make sure people are what they seem they are...? Because not everyone is like they seem. Sometimes they’re dangerous.” Sometimes they looked like harmless old school teachers but morphed into scary, monstrous entities the minute they saw you. Which was why everyone got followed by the child for a little while.

“But you seemed okay pretty fast... So I guess you’re good. And... I thought I should finally say hi... but it seemed weirder and kinda hard the longer I waited.” He'd been kind of worried that Nida might not like him. Since Ignis liked him? Nida's opinion seemed pretty important.

Feeling the feet on his lap, Ignis presented his material and slid it over to Nida to look over. After that, he then started rubbing his fiancée's feet.

"So I've heard." Really the instructions they'd received on what was supposed to be Noct's wedding as well were scant. They only worried about what to wear, and when to be there. Pretty much everything else seemed to have been taken care of.

"But I propose green on my end." Because green was his necklace that officially made them a couple in his own eyes. And they'd moved to his place which was in the Green building. "Though with it being autumn, it would have to be a more muted colour of green I suppose and can be combined easily with another colour."

Oh what a man, to rub his feet without prompting. He'd just wanted them warm against his lover.

"Green, huh? Given the time of year we're going for, maybe something more in a dark forest tone, or a sage? All the better to compliment your eyes. And maybe a red. Wine or mahogany in tone, so it's deep and rich and good for hte fall?"

"Most adults aren't me," Nida points out. His strengths aren't something other people have access to, so he doesn't judge them for it. He just knows he's not like other people and that isn't a bad thing.

"So you're the one that gets the other meals. I thought he had someone he was taking care of," he said. It was interesting, though, that his lover hadn't told him more about Mono.

At last he offers a hand out to Mono.

"Hi. I'm Nida. Nice to meet you."

Ignis nodded. "A darker green would be lovely actually." And then his face turned red at the part about complimenting his eyes, so he listened as Nida went on about the darker red shades. Somehow it felt as if his face was a good shade of red to use for the wedding.

But after a moment he smiled. "Red and green..almost sounds like christmas."

"There will be plenty of sunshine as well." Ignis replied smoothly. There was a slight smile on his face too as he said that. It would be nice to see the boy enjoy the sunshine. But the smile turned to concern and he nodded to the question. "So that is all there is to your wardrobe is it?" His tone was careful because he didn't want to seem as if he was judging the boy at all.

However, if clothing was needed, he had a particular man in mind for the job. And of course Ignis would be willing to pay to properly outfit the lad.

The advisor smiled at the pup in question. "So even your family dog has made it here." And he was a little curious as to how that all worked even if he was very happy for the man. Living deep under an ocean trapped didn't sound as if it had been any fun at all, and while this might not be an ideal place, it was certainly better than what had been his alternative with his husband.

He and Nida had cats and they were content with that along with Nida's little red chocobo. Somehow Ignis was surprised the cats hadn't gone after the little baby bird but they hadn't. But he knew all too well how animals knew who to go to in order to get just what they wanted. They somehow all had that innate talent no matter what their species it appeared.

"And how are things going with the house hunting? Is that a thing you're doing or are you waiting more until the Spring time?"

"Christmas, that earth holiday again?" Nida asked, frowning. It had been nice enough, but his heart was more about silvers and golds and whites for the winter. "Nah, it sounds like harvest to me. The red leaves of trees, the vibrant and lingering green of pines. It's fall."

He didn't have those connotations of christmas after all.
