It was here. It was HERE! Lauri-Ell smiled as she looked at the large cart with layered padded out panes of carefully and custom made glass. And with it, a whole selection of the metal bars and poles and things she had made with Gili's help that were finally ready.

Lauri-Ell looked at her deliveries and looked so INSANELY gleeful, grinning massively at all she saw. She was excited, definitely excited. But...

"Now I have to get it all upstairs," she sighed. And assembled. Which she could do. But man, there was so much she had to do. "I should have arranged a day where I knew I had help."

Or someone with telekinesis, but that didn't seem likely.


2. And So The Building Begins | Blue Building Roof
Finally. It had taken her all of the day before to carefully move all of the supplies up to the roof, even with help, and the fatigue after had been too much to start the building process. So she had taken the day off, put out feelers to friends and neighbors to see if anyone wanted to help, and got up early to start in the markets. A basket of fresh turnovers and sausage rolls later, and after the making of two large pitchers of 'lemon-aid' Lauri-Ell made her way to the roof with the copies of all of the notes and designs she had made for the work.

It was time. Lauri-Ell clapped her hands together and smiled.

"Alright. Frame first I think!"


3. Things To Go In Glass Houses | Flower and Gardening Shops
Alright, now she had a lovely little greenhouse prepared, one that she could even get into. So now there was the rest that needed to be done. Which was why she had taken her cart around to a number of stores. Already she had acquired a few large bags of soil and some pots and trays for planting. But now?

Now Lauri-Ell was looking at small seedlings, not to mention bags of things proclaiming to be seeds. She looked... worried.

"But how do such very small things become such big and good plants?"

And what should she get? Food and healing things, that was what she and Yuki had agreed to.

"I don't know what to do," she mumbled unhappily.

Climbing up the last part of the ladder, Yuki smiled when he saw Lauri-Ell already up there. So he got up onto the roof, careful to have the rest of the plant food and fertilizer ready.

"Sorry if I'm a little late. My alarm clock didn't wake me up like I thought it would." And of course by that he meant his little blue chocobo chick he'd named Haru. But he had to drop the chick off at the chocobo ranch before coming up here because who knew what would happen tot he little bird. And inwardly he felt feint at the prospect of the little blue bird possibly tossing itself or falling off of the high roof.

"You're not late. The plants haven't started to grow yet," she answered with a smile.

With him there she was happy to offer him a stabilizing hand.

"Gili and I made notes on the metal support pieces for which connects to which. Will you help me build?"

"Well they'll take a while." Yuki replied with a smile as he took the offered hand. And once he was up on the rooftop proper, he looked at Lauri-Ell. "I can help where I can, though I can't say I'm familiar with that part of it."

Still, he'd do what he could.

Ah, yes the will, won't they? He smiles.

"I have copied down the instructions," she told him, expression bright. "Come, I will show you."

And sure enough, by the pile of supplies, was a very carefully noted sketch. Gili's handwriting was very distinctive on it, blocky in a way that demanded no argument be offered.

"When I told her of a house of metal and glass, she was intrigued."

Yuki followed and looked at the sketch plans. It even had the details in the handwriting and he glanced up from the paper to look at his friend for a minute. "Wow, seems like they sure were careful and provided a lot of details for the project."

And then he glanced to the spot where the materials were. "Guess we should get started then."

"Yes. We did much research. Gili liked the idea of it. She thinks maybe she can make smaller ones to sell to wealthy people, or the farms," Lauri-Ell said. But her boss wanted her to prove it first.

And Lauri smiled as she started to search the metal pieces for the ones for the bottom of the frame.

"I believe we should start by putting together the bottom. So other things can be put into it."

"They could definitely use it." Yuki nodded. It would be nice to see more farms utilize the technology even if he himself didn't see it as such. But he was thinking that it might be good to distribute some of the food to the needy kids he'd seen too.

His gray eyes looked at the pieces and nodded. "Alright, let's get started."

Lauri-Ell sat herself down with the instructions and started to look them over again.

"Alright, we'll need the long pieces labeled with An A and then other letters. Those are where we start."

"Alright." Yuki replied, getting the pieces that Lauri-ell indicated. If she was going to lead the project he was alright with that because she would know a bit more about how the assembly was supposed to go than him.

Ah yes, the pieces. She reached for a leather pouch that her her joining nails and rivets and other pieces. She smiled and rose to join him. "We must lay them out. I will join them, so I will need you to hold things, is that acceptable?"

He nodded, trying to visualize how this was all going to look. This part wasn't his specialty but he had spent countless hours in the Wizard's Tower to be able to learn which medicines to grow along with what foods.

"The sooner we put it altogether, the sooner we can get growing done."

Yes, Yuki was the very good researcher. Lauri-Ell still felt bad that she had not helped him more with that. But her job did not allow her as much free time, she was a full time student in some ways, and she had spent a lot of time working with Gili to plan this part of the project.

"Exactly!" she said cheerfully. "I think we can do this today. End of the weekend at the latest."

He had knelt down to start looking at the details of the parts themselves and tried to formulate a plan in his mind to get this project going. But then she said by the end of the week which had him look up at her.

"You think it'll take us that long to get this done?"

"I do not think so, but if it does go slowly, that is how long it might take," she noted. They are driven people. They will be able to do it earlier.

He nodded and looked back at the pieces. "Doesn't seem like it should take us that long to get this done." Yuki really hoped it only took a day or two because the weather might not hold out for them.

And he didn't even want to think about that really.

Perhaps, perhaps not. She is not yet certain. But she was smiling as she helped select the pieces for the frame.

"I am happy to spend as much time as there is light to get this done."

"Well in that case, it shouldn't take us too long."

While they might not get everything done, Yuki was more than happy to get this project as done as they could in one day. The sooner they got it together, the sooner the plants could go in.]

Going to speed them up on construction, hope it's okay

So she hoped. Lauri-Ell was excited to put their energy to building. And it was a lot of joy to build things with her own hands. Here they were, giving something new and lovely to the world. It made her happy. And while it took a bit of time, they were able to get the frame up with no problems. But now came the hard part. Before they put together the roof...

"We need to slide the pieces of glass into place now. And seal them with clay to keep the thing as sealed as we can."

No worries!

"Okay." Yuki replied, after listening to Lauri-Ell's instructions. They had gotten pretty far and he was optimistic this project was coming together at a pretty good clip. But this new part about the clay. It was definitely a different time than his own, but maybe in some ways that was a good thing.

"How long will it take to dry? About a day?"

Which meant delays, but some things couldn't be rushed.

"A day to cure, but we'll have the glass in first. So we'll be able to start things inside anyway."

They would just have to not prod the glass. "Here, I would like if you would help guide the glass pieces when I guide them into place."

It was really great to get to do this. All he ever had at home was patch of earth in which to grow his plants. But seeing everything that would be inside of a greenhouse of sorts was a real treat.

He had all of the plants potted and they were coming up through the earth in the terracotta pots already.

And when Lauri-Ell gave him instruction as to how she wanted to proceed, Yuki just nodded. "I can do that."

"Good," Lauri-Ell smiled and reaches for the first glass pane, carefully lifting it into position at the tops of the metal poles.

"Alright, help guide me now."

[areasontohope]

"Alright." Yuki replied with a nod, helping Lauri-Ell with the glass and the metal poles. It didn't line up correctly right away, but he did a bit of moving and then it slid right in to where it was supposed to be.

"Got it."

There it was. Lauri-Ell smiled, carefully adjusting her hold to help things slide into place easily. And then she smiled. The first pane of glass was in.

"Alright, we're getting this done! I think we have our plans made. Now that it's in place, let's get the clay pressed in. It's supposed to be done from the outside first."

"Am I supposed to hold this together while you get the clay in place?" Yuki asked this wonderingly because he had no idea how this was supposed to be done. But he was looking forward to learning.
