audio || late night
[He's doing his model best not to sound stressed, but it's not really working. Even to his own ears, his voice has a tinny quality, tight and anxious.]
Sorry for the late call, everyone, but, uh...is anyone missing anything? Items, that sort of thing? If so, did you notice anything off about your flat?

Mm… My pocket watch has been missing since this morning, it wasn’t where I thought it would be when I went to put it on.
[This better not be like how he lost his hat, he’d be getting rather grumpy if that were the case.]
There was an odd smell around my apartment, if that’s what you mean. I thought it might have drifted in; I tend to leave my windows open for air. It was… A bit like eggs that had gone off…
Re: Audio
[And as much as he knows Illyana is completely capable of entering a demonic realm, he can't just assume she's responsible. Anything can show up here.]
Or the very least a demonic entity. That doesn't narrow anything down a lot.

[His tone is both curious and… a little annoyed. Not at Jagger, but at the fact that there was likely some kind of entity messing with them. He wasn’t fond of that, not in the least.]
In my last world I lost my hat to animated dolls that measured how nice we were… I’m not fond of a repeat scenario to some demonic entity of minor inconveniences.
If I had my dog, I would say I could probably have used him to help track the scent… but unfortunately he didn’t follow me here.
[Whether he meant the demons on their items, at least there would have been some kind of scent to follow. If it worked like that even.]

[He could argue that his gloves were specific as hell, but someone who didn't know him wouldn't see them that way.]
The trail ends, mate. [He breathes a sigh.] I can't get a read on anything in my flat. Whatever happened, they just left...disappeared...or teleported.

[Strange and unsettling, but mostly annoying. On the subject of what had gone missing, he realized that Jagger hadn’t mentioned what had gone missing on his end.]
What’s gone missing from your belongings?
no subject
[He pauses for a moment.]
A pair of gloves.
[Watts may recall he was wearing a pair when they first met.]

[Fantastic…
It took a moment for him to think of the significance of Jagger’s gloves going missing. Sometimes there was just a little too much going on in his head and the thought needed to settle into place. When it does, the detective winced internally.]
Ah… That’s more inconvenient than a pocket watch in your case— do you not have another pair?
no subject
[Though that particular theory seemed a bit farfetched.]
Yeah, I do, but these were special.
no subject
[He sure hoped it wasn’t that though, but at least it was just an annoying inconvenience like petty thefts to start with if it was.]
Ah, good— well not good, still unfortunate if they’re special.
no subject
[Sarcasm, gotta love it.]
I found them at a thrift shop. It's...complicated.
[And lame when he said it out loud.]
no subject
There’s no telling if it’s the same or not though, I’ve been told I tend to jump to the worst-case scenario a little fast once in a while.
[That Jagger’s attachment to the gloves was complicated didn’t seem overly strange, it isn’t as though he had the details to make it seem like it was. It just made the detective curious.]
So they were second hand…? I presume there must be a good reason then, considering what you’ve mentioned about your abilities.
Mm… and complicated or not, hopefully they’ll turn up sooner rather than later.

[He breathed a sigh.]
It’s fine, mate. It’s the case, often.
…yeah. Maybe it’s weird. They belonged to an older woman, who’d never had grandchildren, so she’d always taken care of all the neighborhood children. She loved people with her entire heart. They’re…comforting.
no subject
I don’t think that sounds weird… Sometimes it seems like there’s very little good in the world, it would be nice to have something that’s a reminder that there is.
no subject
Well, regardless, I miss them because they're mine. It's not that I can't live without them, but that I'd rather not.

Thanks, Mate, and I’ll do the same for your pocket watch.
