[Never mind the baking ingredients in the background along with the mixing bowls. In the foreground are a bunch of books, piles of notepaper and pens since someone's been studying. But paws are seen and hands pick the puppy up and put him on the ground.]
You know you're not supposed to be on the table.
[He then straightens back up and notices that the camera on.]
I'm sorry, I didn't realize the puppy had turned the phone's video function on.
[Yuki pauses a moment.]
But since it's on I wanted to ask if anyone else studying at the Academy?

So potential students will be introduced to more than one teacher while they undertake their magical studies?
[This was news to him, but it wouldn't hurt to find that out.]
It's nice to meet you. I'm..
[And he paused, wondering if he should give his normal address or not, but in the end he decided against it.]
My name is Yuki Sohma.
[ While he would say that was due to being focused on setting himself up in a new world… He also wasn’t known to be the most social creature without reason. ]
Regardless, it’s beneficial to see who’s teaching methods resonate best with a student. In my world, students are known to transfer from one department to another as they try to find a professor whose teaching style fits their needs best.
[ He fell silent, studying Yuki over the feed more seriously for a moment. The wrinkles between his brows deepening lightly as he seemed to be trying to get a read on the young man. His introduction, though halted, was polite… And his overall demeanor seemed sensible. More like Gray or maybe Caules, if he had to make a comparison… That was a good thing. He liked students who weren’t chaotic, loud messes. It meant they weren’t going to make his stress levels rise as easily. ]
It’s nice to make your acquaintance. Have you a particular area of interest where your study of magic is concerned? Or is this a new pursuit?
[And the townsfolk may enroll. That was always a possibility. Learning magic was something he wanted to do when he realized it could be another weapon to add to his arsenal to keep Jacob safe. The guy couldn't even go to the beach without being attacked by one of the sand sharks and fortunately someone had been there to keep him from being killed. But hearing the part about the students and teachers basically resonating with each other kept those darker thoughts at bay for the moment. And then the question made him slightly shake his head.]
No, magic is new to me honestly.
[ Listening to the short response, he hummed with the barest of nods as he sat back and turned his olive-green eyes to something he was working on himself. ]
So you’re a blank slate? Interesting… [ Made him wonder what the young man’s potential might be. ] Does that mean there’s no magic that you know of in your world?
[ He knew it might exist, but was kept under wraps… In his world, there was a whole department at the Clock Tower devoted to keeping the work of mages more or less secret and low-key. ]
Well… you’ll probably get a better idea of what path you wish to pursue once you have the basics down and learn where you excel the most.
[It might help them not view the non locals as less of a threat even if they weren't a threat to the local townsfolk as it was. It was still weird to be given strange looks even when they deliberately came into the agency to make a report half the time. However he shook his head.]
No, there's no magic in my world.
[Ancient generational zodiac curses weren't going to be brought up or discussed. And so he nodded.]
I'm only learning theory right now. I have to wonder what different kind of magics can be found here.
[ He supposed, given the amount of worlds that might be out there, one where magic didn’t exist wasn’t impossible. Strange to think of, but never impossible. At least he certainly wouldn’t be asking about curses unless Yuki gave him some kind of indication of one and piqued his curiosity. Waver had experience with curses himself. ]
Ah, the best place to start. Having the theory down before you put things in to practice is important.
[ He finally glanced up as he set a mortar and pestle aside for the moment. ]
I find myself curious about that myself. There could very well be magics that none of us have ever seen before, or those that may have been lost to time in one world that still exists here. With the Academy being back on this plane of existence where it was meant to be, I think it’s safe to presume that we may see some interesting things in the future.
[ He was intrigued. The potential research and discoveries were exciting for the mage (and a little worrying, unexpected magical situations could be a pain in his behind). But still a mystery to be solved, perhaps different magics that might prove helpful for figuring out new angles for things he was focused on himself. ]
[Because it gave this clueless kid somewhere to start. He knew he couldn't just go wielding fireballs or whatever. He knew he had to start at the beginning and then build from there. And it didn't bother him because he was a good student and where he worked allotted him plenty of time to study. Fortunately the two men he worked with were pretty understanding.]
I wondered about that myself. The Aspects didn't seem too helpful at coming here, but I still thought about talking to them about that. I'm just not sure if it would do any good.
Frowning visibly, he nodded in response to the comment about the Aspects. ]
I have yet to have the opportunity to speak to them, but I have been warned about their inexperience and issues by a few people now. [ He considered the idea that they might not be any help on the subject of what magic might be here with some concern of his own. ] Even if speaking to them may not yield the results we hope for, it could be better to know what they might or might not know. It would help to know what might be up to us to focus on and figure out ourselves.
I'll look into asking one of them and see if there's anything that I can find out.
[And by that he meant Halcyn because the other seemed a bit gruffer.]
The biggest thing would be that it turns up nothing, but at least it's something that can be ruled out instead of constantly wondering.
Exactly. Though I find myself wondering how easy they are to get in touch with, no one has really indicated to me if they are easily reached or not…
[ Though he guessed the answer was no, they weren't. Somehow, this place doesn’t strike him as the kind to hold city council meetings. ]
That I'm not sure of. I think the..person at the Historium knows of a way to get a hold of them so I can start there. But in a place like this people know people who know things, so it's just a matter of finding out who has that information.
[He paused a moment because perhaps sensei knew the Captain of the Guard who might know.]
I can try another way if that doesn't work.
[ And in return, he’d offer up anything he learned himself. ]
Thank you, I will do that. I'll with the Historium tomorrow and see what I can find out, as far as getting a hold of the Aspects in this place. Hopefully I can learn something and if not, I'll let you know that too.
[ Oh, his spell is starting to smoke… He turned his attention back to it for a moment and added the ingredients from the pestle to the array before he turned his attention back to Yuki. ]
And I suppose, failing that, I’ll see you around the academy at some point.
[He then smiled.]
I look forward to meeting you in person.
[ He responded, and for all it was a bit awkward and short… It was genuine. Yuki had proved interesting, and with a good head on his shoulders. So at least he knew there would be someone with some common sense crossing the threshold of the academy. ]
Until then, I have a bounded feel to finish and I believe you have a small creature to wrangle.
[ Waver added, recalling seeing the small dog at the start of the broadcast. To his knowledge, young animals needed a degree of attention. ]
