Ignis stood looking over out at the water as the coals were preparing for the food he had nearby. In a container near the heat he had all the ingredients for the food that he planned on cooking for the day.

He planned on making meat, chicken and shrimp along with some veggies which had been marinating for awhile now. Cheeseburgers were plentiful, along with buns, bacon and all manners of condiments. And there were some chicken breasts he planned to grill as well as well as corn. Not going on the grill was a fresh pasta salad or two.

Fresh fruit had been carefully prepared too, although there were no strawberries present, nor would there be. Drinks were plentiful as well as containers for ice. Snacks could be found along with some wraps as well.

Ignis had no idea how many people might come over to get food, so he did have help in bringing all of this to the beach. He'd heard about the beach simply popping up out of nowhere and had checked it out on the back of his chocobo. Once he'd been satisfied he was definitely getting what he considered 'the best spot in the house'.

When someone would come up to check things out, he'd nod with a smile as he got the food going, making sure a drink was handy for the newcomer.

"And how are you today?"

"Well it would certainly keep you home and out of trouble." Ignis smirked. Actually he really meant out of the line of danger, but he didn't want to say those words. It wasn't that he didn't trust his husband's formidable battle abilities. It was just that he worried.

"Oh but trouble is where I live, darling," he laughs, shaking his head. "I'm a good guard. And there's no planes or anything for me to fly here."

And he doesn't want to go the route of opening a dojo again.

"I'm going to thank the Aspects there aren't any ships for you to go run off into." Ignis replied with a shake of the head.

"So a grill it is then."

"Boats aren't that satisfying," he answered with a smile. He doesn't consider anything else a 'ship'.

"Grill it is."

Ignis returned his husband's smiled and let that topic go.

"I'm going to have to find out where these were made. But purchasing one won't be a problem once I find that out. And then you can have cookouts."

Which was a pleasant thought.

"Oh that would be lovely. I could come home early, at the right times of year, and just grill something for us all."

And he's so pleased at that idea. Getting to contribute more to the food of their home is exciting.

"Well considering the weather won't be so bad for another month or two, I'd say you have plenty of time to break it in."

With Nida cooking, Ignis could tend more to the house and things that would need done there. This was all well and good and he had no issue with it.

"That's a great thing," Nida says with a grin. He looks so excited for it. "Oh can we? I'd want to do it soon. I want to grill more."

He smiled at Nida. "If you're grilling, we can plan a menu together and based on that we can pick up some things from a good shopping trip."

Ignis wasn't sure that he should admit it out loud, but he really loved shopping with his husband and Mono. So there was a smile on his face as he prepared a few more condiments.

"You know I'm down for that. Planning isn't always my thing, but if it gives me an excuse, I'm going to do it."

ANd then his face brightened.

"Do you think Mono's ever had grilled food?"

Ignis smiled and laughed a little. "I must admit I'm rather looking forward to getting treated to whatever you come up with."

At that question regarding Mono he had to stop a moment. "I don't believe so, unless he's had it from one of the sellers when we weren't looking or while he was working."

“I have this really great pan-seared behemoth steak, but of course we can’t get the meat here,” he sighed, shaking his head. It was truly a loss. “But pan-grilled veggies is good too.”

because if Mono hasn’t had grilled food, he wants to try it even more now. Not just to impress his husband, but to give his student some joy in it.

"That sounds quite delicious." Ignis murmured softly, imagining such a thing. But he looked up briefly at his husband.

"I can see what we can substitute, but veggies are certainly a worthwhile alternative."

This was fun and he was going to encourage his husband to pursue this if that was what he wanted to do.

Well now Nida was chuckling to himself. It seemed he was going to get a chance to impress his husband a little.

“You ever made fry bread before?”

He had to think a moment before shaking his head.

"By that question, I take it you know a good recipeh."

Nida grinned and nodded.

“We were taught practical, easy to make things. And when you can’t really spare carry space on plates and the like, you learn to make fry bread to serve your food on.”

That practical knowledge got Ignis' attention. "In that case, I will be quite interested in seeing this fry bread of yours. I'm sure there will be plenty of things we can make with it."

"It tends to be good with really thick stews you can ladle onto it, or thick curries."

But he was definitely making plans. Maybe he could surprise his husband with something good.

"But your creativity can probably take it up a notch or seven."

"I'm looking forward to seeing this new concoction of yours."

And of course he looked forward to seeing what ingredients came home with them for the shopping trip.

He then smiled over at his husband. "We'll see what we can come up with."

Hardly new, but he's excited too. If he could impress his husband with any cooking, it would be a delight.

"You make me feel quite creative, love."

"And I will always seek to inspire that creativity." Ignis replied with a warm smile at his husband. "So when do you wish to go shopping for this menu of yours? Are you making a stew to put on top or is it simply the bread at first?"

Questions, he had them.

"I think I might try and get some curry for it. IT's thicker," he said, thoughtful. "If I give you a list, could you fold it into the grocery shopping for the house? I have to start overhauling the training for my apprentices."

"Curry won't be a problem to obtain." And at Nida's question he nodded. "Let me know when you wish to sit down and get this written."

And it was always easier since he had the notebook on him that Llewellyn had gifted him with.

"Lovely," he said with a smile. "Something with potatoes and chickpeas. It would taste so good."

He will have to write it later. "Tomorrow, when I get home?"

"That sounds splendid, and tomorrow will do, there's no rush." Ignis replied soothingly as he continued to work on handing out the grilled burgers. More bacon and cheese needed to be pulled so that was worked on next.
