Ignis stood looking over out at the water as the coals were preparing for the food he had nearby. In a container near the heat he had all the ingredients for the food that he planned on cooking for the day.

He planned on making meat, chicken and shrimp along with some veggies which had been marinating for awhile now. Cheeseburgers were plentiful, along with buns, bacon and all manners of condiments. And there were some chicken breasts he planned to grill as well as well as corn. Not going on the grill was a fresh pasta salad or two.

Fresh fruit had been carefully prepared too, although there were no strawberries present, nor would there be. Drinks were plentiful as well as containers for ice. Snacks could be found along with some wraps as well.

Ignis had no idea how many people might come over to get food, so he did have help in bringing all of this to the beach. He'd heard about the beach simply popping up out of nowhere and had checked it out on the back of his chocobo. Once he'd been satisfied he was definitely getting what he considered 'the best spot in the house'.

When someone would come up to check things out, he'd nod with a smile as he got the food going, making sure a drink was handy for the newcomer.

"And how are you today?"

The gesture was a definite surprise to Haru. Not that she wasn't used to people being kind to her, more so that she wasn't quite used to people being kind to her without an ulterior motive. Though recently, even back home, that had changed. Still her eyes widened as she took the bag from him and she smiled brightly.

"Are you certain?" She asked a little shocked. "This is so kind of you! Thank you!"

He smiled at the girl with a nod and inwardly chuckled. Ever since Mono moved in with he and Nida, the advisor had noticed himself becoming much more of a sap. Well there was no help for it. Ignis tried to be kinder because he always pictured that little boy with the paper bag over his head that seemed as if he didn't have a friend in the world.

While that had been true, it bothered the scholarly man more than he cared to admit. And so he was 'paying it forward' or something along those lines that he'd heard at the Lodge.

"Quite. I'm afraid I'd otherwise be packing it up at the end of the day and I'd much rather see it be useful."

She clung to the bag like it was some sort of precious gift and smiled even more. In her mind it was a precious gift, even if it was simply a tote. Which might seem a bit much, but well, even her own father rarely gave her gifts anymore. Certainly not things that took her own interests or activities in mind.

"Thank you so much! I'll be more than certain to make good use of it! I have not had much of a chance to decorate my room here. Some shells might be quite nice."

Ignis smiled. He couldn't believe that this girl seemed to attached to such a small thing in his own eyes. But that was the beauty of gifts, one never knew how much one might mean to someone else.

"Seashells will certainly bring the ocean to your room. I haven't had much of a chance to check them out, but I'm sure there are plenty here, and that the waves will bring in more for your collection."

"Indeed! It'll be even more lovely because it will remind me of this!" Of someone being generous. The best part of a gift was the memory attached to receiving it. "Perhaps I could even think of something to make with them!"

He had to laugh a little, but inwardly he was more delighted. It made him happy to see something as small as a bag could bring such joy. "Well if you do decide to go so far as to do such a journey to the realm of art with your shells, I hope to see a photo of it some day."

"I would certainly try! I have a friend who is a wonderful artist, perhaps he could help me think of ideas," yup she was gone now dreaming about things to make with little collected shells. At least it would give her something to focus on doing. "I would be certain to let you see after."

Inwardly the way she said that she had a friend that was a wonderful artist made him wonder if she was referring to the boy he'd met in the marketplace. But he wasn't going to ask because it was none of his business.

"A little collaboration never hurt anyone."

Says the guy who didn't do that for his recipes.

"Well if you do get to show me someday I'd be honoured."

"I agree! I always feel as though a team effort somehow turns out better. Growing up I spent most of my time by myself. It is quite nice to have the opportunity to work with others." And very exciting for her.

"Though he is much more creative than I am."

He smiled, thinking of growing up beside Noct and how he knew what it was like to be alone before that. Sure he had other kids he'd met in the gifted school he'd attended. But play wasn't encouraged and the only teamwork used was to solve problems. Of course that changed when he met the king and future king.

Noct had been pretty lonely too and that thought had Ignis nod.

"Well if he is, then learning something new wouldn't be a bad thing."

Besides, he was here doing just that with his husband.

"That's quite true! I imagine he would be a wonderful teacher too, despite what he may say." Of course, Yusuke would probably say he would not be very good at it. However, she vastly disagreed.

"Plus, I enjoy learning new things."

Ignis smiled thinking of Yusuke. The boy was pretty shy but he would be a great instructor since he had the temperament. However he wasn't sure that's who was being spoken of.

And so he nodded. "Learning is a lifelong thing. And with this being an unfamiliar world, there will always be something new to discover here."

"Oh! That's a wonderful way to look at it!" She really liked that line of thinking. "You have a refreshingly positive outlook."

"It's a habit of mine." Ignis smiled, "at least as far as the learning goes." Says the man who as a boy had so study maps and monsters and locations that would be of use to the Prince and future king that he was being raised along side.

"Nothing wrong with a bit of scholarly knowledge of things that might serve to aid one in the future."

"I have a dear friend who would greatly appreciate that sentiment," she said thinking of Makoto. "I have heard from others that there is a lot to learn here, particularly in the Historium." She hadn't gotten around to going there yet. "But I do agree. Scholarly knowledge has proven quite useful to me back home, I am certain it could here as well."

"Yes the Historium is a place where I highly recommend people to go." Even if he had been sort of at odds with the character there. But of course he wasn't going to mention that part because reasons.

Ignis was pleased this one seemed to love acquiring knowledge too. How fun to find a like minded person in an odd place. "It always serves everyone, provided they take the time."
