[Thomas has been keeping a fairly low profile and away from most people, going out at night to get a better feel for things around here, but after the speech in the square and the week-long party, he's decided maybe he should get to know the others here, since apparently some crazy gods brought them here to rebuild the place.

Besides, eventually the Hunger that makes up half of his soul is going to demand to be fed, and while he can subsist on nearly nothing for quite a while it is nearly nothing, not nothing at all. Still, when he starts the transmission, it's pretty tame and not at all suspicious.]

You know, these phones really clash with the decor. Do they just throw things into a hat and see what they pull out this week? How many of you are familiar with these things?

[Because knowing the sorts of people he's trapped here with is important.]

Yeah, I would say that it’s definitely a vote in their favour. Just a bit vexing that the aspects couldn’t have worked out a design that utilizes the best of both.

I bet if we think hard enough, we can get a smart watch. That'd be pretty cool.

... Forgive me for asking, but what is a smart watch? What makes it particularly intelligent.

(ooc: We can handwave here if you want, I know it’s been ages since I tagged this. Like the rest of our stuff, I’m happy to handwave and get something new going in October!)

It's a tiny computer. It doesn't have a face, but a screen...sort of like this phone's.

[If he laughs, it’s only because that was such a straight forward answer. As far as future tech goes, he’s gotten far too used to Holly rambling without pause for breath about something. Often times, he wasn’t even sure she explained something fully before she shifted gears.]

And you can wear it like a watch? Now there’s something that would have been better than this, or at least more convenient.

Who knows? Maybe something like it will show up. It's happened before, right?

That is true! They didn’t waste much time changing the crystals out for these phone things. They might just need a little nudge and the right idea, like with the increase in residents who were more familiar with technology over magic.

I wonder if you're on to something, there...we should try for holographic watches.

[There’s so much he needs to catch up on, but he’s going to guess that it’s another very convenient technology.]

If the Aspects ever make a grand appearance again, we’ll have to see if they’d take requests.

Yeah. It's...kind of like an illusionary projection?

[Huh... With technology instead of magic. The humans that liked to disprove magic must have a field-day using something like holographs as an excuse for something not being real.]

Sounds fancy, definitely would be interesting for communicating if it’s a watch too.

[He chuckles.]

It'd be cool, at least.

[He grins, because he liked when he used words the way future people did. Holly had been teaching him them! It was amusing...

Also, the future technology that was not these phones were definitely interesting, or at least people kept making it sound interesting.]

Sounds like something that’d be useful? If you could make them bigger maybe, use as a decoy...

[Hey, it would be one less enchantment to focus on if it was a gizmo making a holograph instead!]

Yeah, well, technology hasn't advanced that far where I'm from. I think wizards pull it off, sometimes. Non-humans are better at it.

Wizards, huh? You from a world with magic, then?

[He asked, sounding vaguely curious, like it was a surprising thing. Really, this is why he’d been called a pest and a punk since arriving. Caelan had too much fun playing the silly, innocent mortal.]

You could say that...though it's almost like saying "you come from a world with air, right?" What do you know about wizards?

[He knew that half of them were alright and knew how to respect the fae. The other half were a pain in his ass on a semi-regular basis.]

They’re like people with magic? You know, like the old stories. There are people here with magic from other worlds? Not all worlds from what I can tell, but some.

Nah, magic's everywhere. A lot of people can use it, wizards are just the ones who think they're an authority on the subject.

If magic is everywhere where you’re from, that mean you’ve got magic too?

They're ruled by an organization called "The White Council" and if that's not pretentious I guess I don't know what that word means.

Well, magic comes from living, so yeah, I guess. I can do a couple of spells.

Any group that calls themselves a council is generally pretentious and full of nonsense in some way. ‘The White’ just intensifies that.

[He could go on for days about the fae councils, and perhaps one day he would. Caelan was definitely more interested in Thomas’ world though, with something like that.]

A couple of spells would still be handy in a place like this, I think.

Yeah, well, rumor has it they were founded by Merlin, if your world has Arthurian legend. I guess it goes with the territory.

They're usually handy regardless.

Yeah, yeah, the Arthurian legend is definitely something I’ve heard a time or two in my own world. Maybe not in the same way you have though, since I’ve never heard of any ‘White Council.’

[Still, this was definitely a little more interesting than some of the world’s he’d heard about. Not many thus far had sounded terribly much like his own, or gave an indication that the fae might exist.

If Merlin and the whole ‘Arthurian legend’ did? Chances were the fae were at least storied about. Whether humans were in the know or not.]

Maybe you’ll have to give a demonstration sometime, it’s been pretty interesting to see the stuff of people from other worlds. The ‘real thing’ as they say?

Supposedly, Merlin founded it after everything went down. I don't know if that's true, or if the Council rode his coattails to glory and named their leader The Merlin just to be cute.

[He chuckles slightly at that.]

The spells I know aren't really that visually impressive.

People using the good name of someone who is already gone to build their reputation? Haven’t seen that before.

[There’s an amused huff in his voice, before he moved on to the matter of ‘impressive.’ As fae went, he honestly couldn’t say the actual spells selkie were prone to using were that impressive either.]

Still potentially impressive if someone hasn’t seen it before, yeah?
