i. Arrival
The blossoming pain in his chest faded and he took in breaths, his hand clutched there, where it should have been filling with blood, his blood. His eyes opened slowly, almost distrusting in their perception of light. This was wrong. It was the Dark Hour, not...what, noon? He nearly jumped out of his skin when the little man approached him, too confused about his surroundings to do much more than dumbly take the sack offered to him and nod, blinking after the little man as he wandered off. He took a moment to consider his clothes, jaw clenching for a moment when he noted the blood-crusted hole in his coat over his heart.
"So that happened." Whether he was commenting on his current predicament, where he'd come from previously, or something else entirely was anyone's guess. Even he didn't know for sure. Still frowning, annoyed more than confused, he finally takes a look around, finding a bench nearby to rifle through his bag. "What is this shit?"
ii. Making my way downtown
Shinjiro found the markets equal parts annoying and useful. It seemed to him that everyone in town came through the market district, either on the way to work or to get supplies for whatever it was they were working on. It was a good place to overhear gossip, and get a feel for this weird city he'd ended up in. The message board caught his attention this particular day, though, what with the strange degree hung there, warning against some sort of monster prowling around after dark.
Monsters after dark. That sounded familiar. It also sounded like something Mitsuru would most likely want to try dealing with, which meant, "I need a weapon." It was spoken to himself, but not quiet enough not to be overheard.

[As useful as the message board was for some things, as the days turn into weeks, it becomes obvious to Shinjiro it's not the way to find a part-time job.
Seeing as there was also no internet to speak of, he supposed this was the thing to do. A way to earn coin while they figured this place out probably hadn't even occurred to Mitsuru, but living on the streets for a while, you get your priorities straight.]
Anybody hiring part-time workers? I'm not picky.
[He's wonderful at introductions, right? Such a people person.]

He was thirsty by the time he arrived, though, and he'd taken off his overcoat during the walk, though he still had his beanie. Looking around at the people gathered here, he didn't really feel like he belonged, but a job was a job, if someone was going to give it to him.]

Some days were harder than others of course, but today hadn't been bad at all. Everyone seemed to want to go outside with their drinks since the weather had warmed up and sitting inside wasn't a thing most wanted to do. So they roamed around outside and would sit on the log benches where Nida had stood with him to say their wedding vows.
As he moved about, he happened to notice an interesting looking chef doll or something sitting on the counter near the register. Immediately he thought mayhaps a child mistakenly put it there, and so went from table to table and even outside but no one laid claim to it.
Finally he gave up and set the doll up above his favourite stove and looked at it as if it could see him. "Well I suppose I'll simply keep you up there and bring you home with me tonight shall I?"
Not that he expected a response.
Turning around, Ignis then noticed the boy from the video feed come in. Turning back, he made sure to wash his hands, and brought over some water and a snack. He knew it was a long haul from town to the Lodge whether on foot or even by chocobo so he'd prepped it ahead of time.
Bringing those over to where the other sat, he set them down in front of the boy once the other seemed comfortable. "It's nice to see you in person."
Re: action
It wasn't much to say he'd shed the coat he draped across the back of the bar stool when he came close enough to nod to Ignis. Under it, he worn a knit turtleneck, dark in color, dark pants, and he'd never taken off his beanie, though by the look of unruly hair poking out from under it, the cap seemed to keep his mane in check. It was questionable whether or not Shinjiro had recently met a comb he found a to be a friend.
His eyebrows raised at the snack, though the water was welcome, and if the walk had taken a lot out of the young man, his expression didn't show it. In fact, he seemed almost too energetic for a man who'd just hoofed it all the way from the city. Still, he nodded, "uh, sure. And thanks." He took a long drink from the glass of water. "You wanted to talk?"

Nodding at the other's gratitude, he had to smile.
"And I believe you're here because you wanted a job, correct?"
Some people he could and would stand on ceremony with. But youths weren't really into that sort of thing and so there were times he did get straight to the point.

He nodded. "Yep."

He turned to reach behind him and grabbed a cup of coffee. Maybe he should've switched to tea at this point but coffee it was.
"I take it you have experience?"

"But if you think you can handle it, tell me when you can start."
no subject
"So whenever."

"Alright, then you can start in two days. I will expect you here around three in the afternoon. However, is Full time or part time what you're searching for?"
no subject
"Uh...well, I ain't got anything else goin' on, so...full-time, I guess. Never worked in a restaurant before, but...I know stuff about 'em." From watching cooking shows...

He really didn't want the boy to get overwhelmed or anything.
no subject
"Sure, that works."
