006 Home is where the Heart is
Who; Jacob Miller, Yuki Sohma & You
What; Finding a Puppy & Homes
Where; Gary's Carpentry & Gullwings office
When; April 12th
Warnings; Hurt puppy that gets rescued.
Garry's Carpentry [Open]
It was a day like any other. He woke up, walked to work and began working. Truly tedious, which was how Jacob liked it.
What made this day different was the soft high pitched squeaks that he heard after arriving at the work shop. At first, Jacob ignored it having assumed that he'd gone crazy but then he stopped his work and listened harder. The sound was soft but clear and becoming more frantic. It reminded him of the wolves but higher pitch than the pained sounds he'd heard from his adopted family.
After some searching, Jacob found the source of the noise; a small dirty puppy had limped his way into the shop and had hidden among the piles of wood.
He technically had to work or risk being behind in the recent influx of orders but it was impossible for him to abandon the puppy. Gary was informed and Jacob sacrificed his lunch to the hungry pup. Once the puppy was full, Jacob carefully lifted it into his arms. It was covered in dirt and grime with a gashes in it's back legs as if it'd been chased into the shop.
Jacob left the shop and frantically searched for a store that sold bandages and disinfectant. Anyone who came across Jacob would be able to tell that he was frantic and carefully carrying a bundle in his arms.
Gullwings Office [Closed to Yuki]
When Jacob arrived at the Gullwings office to pick up Yuki, he had a small light brown puppy curled up in the crook of his left arm. He'd had the puppy for a few days and hadn't been willing to part from him after cleaning the dirt from his fur and bandaging the cut on its back legs. The little thing continued to have trouble walking and Jacob didn't have it in him to leave the puppy alone.
Once inside he placed the puppy on the couch and walked to where Yuki was usually working. He made a habit of walking Yuki to work but he didn't always pick up his cute companion. It depended on their schedules and if either of them needed to run errands after work. It wasn't the first time that it struck him how domestic it all was. He hadn't ever considered himself to be the domestic type but here he was, grateful for it.
Jacob crept up behind Yuki and placed his palms over his eyes. "Guess who." In reply the small puppy yipped and attempted to limp across the couch to return to Jacob's arms.

He hadn't been intending to go to the Gullwings today, so he hadn't taken any of his medication.

With the puppy safely placed he gave Nida his full attention. "You're allergic to dogs?" That really sucked and was probably worse now that they were in a room and not outside. "Can you do this?"

MAgic was useful. But it was still limited when there was foreign particulates in the wound. That would be the worst.

He stepped forward and gently cooed at the floppy-eared puppy while gently moving the puppy's back legs out to reveal the cuts. If they were lucky they would be shallow. "You're right. It looks like they might be infected." Once they had water Jacob used his left hand to gently clean the wound while his right hand held the wiggly squeaking puppy in place.
"This will be quick little guy. Just bear with it, okay?" Dogs totally understood human speach.

"An infection I can beat if it's weak enough, if I pump enough magic into him," Nida promises as he delivers the water.
Still, he wishes he could do more. He doesn't have magic for this.
"I'd put him to sleep, magically, if I could. But I don't have the spells."
no subject
"It's okay. I can keep him still." It was lucky that the pup was so small. "And I'll keep watching him to make sure he is taken care of. As long as we can patch him up enough for him to heal without issue."
He was already very attached to the little creature.

Still, when it's about time for Jake to be done, Nida moves closer and gathers his magic.
"Hold him still."
no subject
"Oh and don't worry. I won't bring him with me when I come to your place." He couldn't read Nida's mind but he knew that allergies sucked. His pollen allergies hadn't been acting up since arriving in the city though he has been careful about going outside since the start of spring. He also avoided the forest outside of the city.
"Got it."
Jake pushed the cleaning cloth to the side and used both of his hands to hold the puppy, his thumbs gently petting the pup's head as Nida approached with his magical touch.

Once it was all done, Nida takes a deep breath. Then he steps forward. His fingers curling and pressing against his forehead as he called the magic. His eyes briefly glowed, and his fingers shone with pale blue energy before he thrust his hand out toward the dog, and the energy settled into the dog around the wound. Then he followed it up with another casting.
"Keep an eye for how it's going."

It was so frightened.
He wasn't surprised by Nida's magic. Jake has seen magic before but it formed differently for everyone. Personally and thought affected not only form but the versatility of magic in his world. Even though he knew what was coming, it impressed him. Sometimes he didn't realize how powerful his teacher truly was.
"Yeah." Jake looked down at the wound and at the puppy. The heartbeat steadied and he felt a soft warmth brush across the dog's fur. The area around the wound slowly began to soften, its color growing more natural as the wound began to heal.

IT finishes with Nida sneezing and stumbling back a step. Damn dogs.
"How ib he?"
no subject
"Thanks Nida." He glanced over at his teacher with an awkward smile. "I'll pay you back for this later. When I don't have a dog with me." It would also be easier to talk to Nida without a puppy making him sneeze.
Jacob scooped the puppy into his arms and headed towards the door, propping it open to get some fresh, non-puppy air into the room for Nida. "But thanks... again."

Even if it meant being cautious. Hell, he can use the same day to check in with the Gullwings.

"Thanks again." With a nod of his head he closed the door behind him and jogged off towards the market to pick up some extra food that would suit the little puppies' palate.
