006 Home is where the Heart is
Who; Jacob Miller, Yuki Sohma & You
What; Finding a Puppy & Homes
Where; Gary's Carpentry & Gullwings office
When; April 12th
Warnings; Hurt puppy that gets rescued.
Garry's Carpentry [Open]
It was a day like any other. He woke up, walked to work and began working. Truly tedious, which was how Jacob liked it.
What made this day different was the soft high pitched squeaks that he heard after arriving at the work shop. At first, Jacob ignored it having assumed that he'd gone crazy but then he stopped his work and listened harder. The sound was soft but clear and becoming more frantic. It reminded him of the wolves but higher pitch than the pained sounds he'd heard from his adopted family.
After some searching, Jacob found the source of the noise; a small dirty puppy had limped his way into the shop and had hidden among the piles of wood.
He technically had to work or risk being behind in the recent influx of orders but it was impossible for him to abandon the puppy. Gary was informed and Jacob sacrificed his lunch to the hungry pup. Once the puppy was full, Jacob carefully lifted it into his arms. It was covered in dirt and grime with a gashes in it's back legs as if it'd been chased into the shop.
Jacob left the shop and frantically searched for a store that sold bandages and disinfectant. Anyone who came across Jacob would be able to tell that he was frantic and carefully carrying a bundle in his arms.
Gullwings Office [Closed to Yuki]
When Jacob arrived at the Gullwings office to pick up Yuki, he had a small light brown puppy curled up in the crook of his left arm. He'd had the puppy for a few days and hadn't been willing to part from him after cleaning the dirt from his fur and bandaging the cut on its back legs. The little thing continued to have trouble walking and Jacob didn't have it in him to leave the puppy alone.
Once inside he placed the puppy on the couch and walked to where Yuki was usually working. He made a habit of walking Yuki to work but he didn't always pick up his cute companion. It depended on their schedules and if either of them needed to run errands after work. It wasn't the first time that it struck him how domestic it all was. He hadn't ever considered himself to be the domestic type but here he was, grateful for it.
Jacob crept up behind Yuki and placed his palms over his eyes. "Guess who." In reply the small puppy yipped and attempted to limp across the couch to return to Jacob's arms.

Office
When he came back of course there was always more work to do and he didn't complain because it kept him busy and kept him earning a wage so he could pay for things.
And it was only once his eyes were covered that he realized how late it had gotten. "As if I don't know.." Yuki replied until he heard a yip. Was Pretzel in here and he hadn't realized it?
"That can't be the detective's dog.." because Watts had left a little bit ago.
Office
"Come here." He reached for Yuki's hand and guided him over to the couch where a small puppy was watching the pair eagerly. He was already attached to Jacob having been found by him a few days before but he liked the smell of this new human. They smelled a lot like his human.
"I found him in the shoppe. I haven't named him yet."
no subject
Yuki wasn't sure what to say, but a dog was better than a cat in his eyes.
Grey eyes looked for confirmation to his other half and he smiled at the man and then back to the pup as he spoke. "Well I think he would be living with you."
no subject
He hadn't really considered it because he saw Yuki every morning and nearly every afternoon but the next step would be moving in together. "What if we lived in the same place?" It might take some time to find a location or possibly build a house but if Yuki was interested then Jacob was more than happy to put in the work.
"What do you think?"
no subject
"What?" Yuki asked, looking up at Jacob with his proposition. "You want to live together?" This somehow wasn't something he'd dared think of even if he really did enjoy whenever Jacob came over the house. It was always on the tip of his tongue to ask the other to stay but the words just never came out.
Somehow tears were forming in his eyes, because it was something he'd repressed so hard in his heart. And to hear it come to him freely now was just making the room spin a little.
Yuki silently chided himself that he was acting like a child, or as if Jacob was offering marriage. So he wiped at his tears and tried to smile, speaking in his usual soft tone as he attempted to look the other in the eyes.
"I would really like that."
no subject
"What?!" He was utterly confused. "Of course I want to live with you." He hadn't thought of it before because it felt like they already lived together but to Yuki it might look like something else.
His movements were restricted with the puppy in his arms but he used his free hand to help brush away Yuki's tears. "It's okay love. You can cry if you need to." Jake reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief for Yuki to use. "Here. You okay?" He didn't know why Yuki teared up but it didn't seem like he was unhappy.
no subject
The handkerchief was a lovely little bonus and he half laughed as he used the cloth to keep the water works to a minimum. "Yes, I'm fine. I just didn't realize you wanted to live together, but yes I do want to live together."
The pup was adorable and he tried to deflect using the unknown name of it for an excuse to get a handle on the tears. "You should name the dog Shigure. Sensei reminds me of him too, always trying to get into the middle of things."
no subject
As if to echo the statement the puppy yipped and began to paw at Yuki's bicep. "Shigure, huh? Sounds good. I'll call him Shi for short." Jacob was a big fan of nicknames after his first word had become the permanent nickname used by his older sister.
"So, we have a name and we're getting a place. I was thinking of finding an abandoned place and fixing it up. What do you think?" He had been told that it'd be free and he didn't mind doing the work himself. "We can go find a place now and register it as ours."
no subject
But then he was startled at the pup's noise and Yuki looked at Jacob to make sure he actually liked the name and wasn't just humouring him or something. After all, the name had been pitched in jest in the first place. After realized his boyfriend was serious, he decided to just go with it, and would call the dog 'Shi' as well just to avoid the rest of the name.
Then the other startled him with the whirlwind of it all and all he could do was nod. Excitement coursed through his body as his mind tried to register the thought of them finding a home today. So before he let himself overthink it, he took his mate's arm and smiled up at him.
"Yes, let's go."
no subject
He'd looked for an apartment before but this was different. He wanted a place that he could turn into a home.
When he was sure Yuki was done they stepped outside into the sun. Jacob had to pause to put a little leash on Shi and place him on the street to run around their feet while they walked. Whenever they were outside the pup had to get a good sniff of everything in the immediate area before he was satisfied.
"There are some abandoned buildings that need some work. I think we can pick a place like that without worrying about buying it and I can fix it up. Let's take a look around and then I'll handle the details." It was mostly his idea so he was happy to do the brunt of the work when it came to formally procuring the house and fixing it up. "What do you want in our house? An office maybe?" Jake wanted an outside shop/work room for his bike and various projects but he didn't know what Yuki would like.
no subject
Once outside, he covered his eyes as the sun took away his vision for a moment. And that's when he noticed Jacob putting a leash on the dog. But then they got going and it struck Yuki at how normal it seemed for them to be going somewhere, just like any other couple.
There were some nights he had to remind himself that he was really in a relationship and he wasn't dreaming and making it all up in his head. But he watched Shi going about his puppy business until Jacob's voice got his attention.
He knew nothing of purchasing a home, but he did recall talking to Detective Watts about it. He would have to do some investigating, but surely Jagger might have more details or know the people to talk to. If push came to shove he could talk to Mister Scientia, but he'd rather talk to Sensei..and that was pushing it because that man would probably be trying to come over and decorate the place.
"Alright." was all he said to Jacob, because he really was going to try and help.
The next questions got him to think. "Uh..just a garden to grow some things. Flowers maybe and some herbs. I can grow some fruits too."
no subject
A garden shouldn't be too difficult though Jacob really wasn't interested in yard work. Luckily a lot of the houses he had seen appeared to have small yards. Maybe just big enough for Shi to run around.
He looked down at the pup and grinned. "What about you little bud? You want a puppy playroom?" Shi knew that he was being talked to and yipped in response. Anything would elicit the same reply which was fun when Jake started asking the puppy silly questions.
"Okay." Now to sum up. "We need a garden, a workroom or garage for me. Bedroom, bathroom, family room, kitchen, dining room?" He looked over a Yuki and scrunched his nose. "Maybe a small library place for you to read? If I remember, you like reading. Or an office for you to use?" Now, he was just thinking out loud now. "Do you think we need a guest room?"
no subject
He'd learned all about that at Shigure's house and their New Year cleaning.
And then his mind raced as Jacob's attention turned towards the puppy. It definitely seemed bonded to the man which was good. And then he thought.
Jacob was going to be worn out, and Yuki knew that he loved Ignis' cooking. So maybe chocobo rides to the Lodge to pick up some of those steaks would work. He had plenty saved up since the only real expense he'd had was food while living in an apartment. Bills weren't a thing that happened and he was only grateful to be able to keep squirreling money away 'for a rainy day.'
Well now it was here, so he could get stuff for the house and maybe talk to Nida sensei's husband about delivering furniture and food.
Looking over at Jacob now he smiled and nodded along with the rooms mentioned. But at hearing the part about a library, he felt like crying. So instead he just moved to wrap his arms around the man at his thoughtfulness. "These plans sound wonderful."
It was all he could get out with a steady voice.

Open One Of Course
Nida followed after Jacob until he got close enough to call out.
"Jacob! What's wrong!?"
Open One Of Course
Really, Jake had no idea what he was doing.
no subject
"Well, have you cleaned the wounds? Because once you do that, I could use a spell to try and help."
no subject
"I haven't done anything yet. There isn't water at the workshop." At least there wasn't drinkable water. As it was, he brought the water he drank to work in containers and he wasn't about to wash out the puppy's wounds with dirty water.
no subject
"If nothing else, I can use a spell to get some water."
no subject
For the moment, he was only focused on the injured whimpering puppy in his arms.
no subject
"I'm not the best with helping animals, btu the magic should work.
no subject
One by choice and one by nature.
"Are you sick? Can you help with this and then rest?" He really wanted the puppy to be okay.
no subject
He hadn't been intending to go to the Gullwings today, so he hadn't taken any of his medication.
no subject
With the puppy safely placed he gave Nida his full attention. "You're allergic to dogs?" That really sucked and was probably worse now that they were in a room and not outside. "Can you do this?"
