[ Llewellyn wasn’t much for using the network, really. Tell-phones were something he tended to be more than a little clumsy with. I’m just uh- looking to see if anyone would be interested in helping me out with a little project I’ve been working on. Some of you already know about it, since you mm... were around in the last world I was, as well. Pretzel’s particularly good at following scent trails, and we had thought he would be helpful in the event that people went missing back then. Seems as important here as it was there. Especially since this world has a lot more potentially confusing places to get lost, like the forest.
But! Anyway, I um... I’ve been spending the better part of the last year and a half training him in scent tracking. Rhy and I have mostly been working with items and making trails like that... But I think it would be beneficial for the little fellow to get experience looking for real people now.
Also... He’s very sociable, and because the last world we were in had very... few animals... [ Complicated in ways Llewellyn didn’t know how to explain, really. ] He doesn’t quite know what everything here is. He keeps trying to make friends with creatures that aren’t fond of dogs. [ A small amused huff. Pretzel really was as awkward as he could be sometimes. ] So if anyone has a particularly social pet that he might get along with, it might be nice for him to get to know them?
[ An awkward pause, then a nod. That was about it. ]
Uh- anyway, I’ll be going then. Thank you for your time!

Pretzel was a very energetic, growingwrinkle hound. It was important to get him out for walks so he didn’t get too housebound, and while the move was going to give the little guy more room to run around? It was going to be an adjustment, and Llewellyn was hoping to keep his routine as close to normal in all the excitement.
Especially since Pretzel had somehow gotten very good at slipping out without their notice to explore the city in search of friends. Neither he nor Rhy could figure out how the dog kept doing it, it was a mystery.
Llewellyn had decided it was just that the dog was rather intelligent, and he wasn’t being challenged or engaged enough. So the best answer he could come up with was to increase training and give him something a little more difficult. Challenge the clever little hound’s mind while they were out and about.
Afternoons where he wasn’t at the Gullwings office, Aerith’s garden shop, or with his husband were spent on very long walks around the market... Or running around the park with fake scent trails and dog toys as he tried to keep up with Pretzel’s training and exercise.
ooc: People could either run into them at the park (especially if you want to handwave them arranging to help with training) or bump into them around the market! Both Llewellyn and Pretzel are veryawkward social!
Helping out a friend in need. - Closed to Lauri-Ell
Llewellyn adjusted his hat slightly, moving down a side street with Pretzel trotting dutifully at his heels. The detective had a somewhat concerned and definitely curious expression on his face as he took a shortcut to the forge where his friend worked.
Lauri-Ell didn’t tend to ask for assistance or favours much, in his experience. They had their weekly lessons for writing and sharing books... But this was a little different from that. She had sounded a bit frustrated and troubled, explaining that something rather important was missing...
It hadn’t taken more than a half second of thought to agree. He wasn’t fond of friends being troubled by things, especially if he could help.
So off he went with a quick note for his husband where he was going for the day in case he didn’t make it home till later in the evening, getting Pretzel’s leash on and making his way to their destination.

This was it. This was moving day. Well... Moving week, really. They had been working for the last week or so to get their belongings moved from the red and blue building to the stonework house that was situated in a small neighborhood near the market.
But today, in particular, was special. It was moving in day. It was also, amusingly, their wedding anniversary. Which had felt rather fitting for their next step together.
There were other things, of course, that needed doing. The house was in livable conditions, but it did still need a little work here and there. Some painting needed to be done to freshen things, some small repairs here and there, and perhaps a little more cleaning where it had been vacant for so long...
But they were both rather eager lovebirds, after having been searching for the right house for a few months now. Especially since this one had been perfect, hitting most of the marks that they had agreed on for a home, which felt rather lucky.
Llewellyn had been... Well, he was up to something. Rhy would be able to tell that much as they got ready for the day. The detective had never been good at hiding things unless someone’s life depended on it (and if it was his life, then less so). So it was clear enough that he was keeping something to himself while they went over last-minute plans.
It was their wedding anniversary though, so what on earth did the man have up his sleeve today?
“So uh- we need to stop off at the shop to get the um...” He gestured at the windows lightly from where he was standing next to the closet, trying to button his shirt and get dressed for the day. “The materials you picked out for the curtains and your projects? And I have to get some paint to work in the kitchen in the next few weeks...” He tapped off the list on his finger, forgetting his task of getting dressed for a moment. “Should probably see if the carpentry shop has some of the things we commissioned finished, too. I think the note I received from the messenger said they had Pretzel’s bed and a few other things ready.” He added, piling a few more things onto the list while he tried to decide on a green waistcoat or a blue one.

Video;
Those are mm… chocobos, yes? [ He asked, also keeping his voice down for the sake of not waking the birds. ] Rhy and I have actually been thinking it would be good for him to get to know some chocobos in case we need to help the guards with anything. And, uh- starting off with the smaller chicks would be a good idea.
[ Especially since Llewellyn could be a bit awkward around the larger ones, he startled them sometimes. ]
Video;
[She slowly moves the camera to look at the two little puff balls, making the small heads and beaks of the young chocobo's visible before turning the video back on herself. They were all sleeping so soundly after running around the fields together.]
I think Lancelot was adopted by these two or we both were. They have been following me around all morning.
Maybe they will see how Lancelot and Pretzel are and act the same. Do dogs often like birds? [She isn't sure.]
no subject
I confess, I'm not entirely sure... But I also don't think Pretzel knows what dogs are often fond of or not. He's been very eager to meet and befriend all the animals that exist in this place, even those who find dogs a bit off-putting. So I expect he'll be eager to meet them, especially if they don't mind him once they see him with Lancelot?
no subject
[She smiles at the memory of Lancelot and Pretzels' first meeting. It had been very cute.]
Of course not. I have a feeling they will follow me wherever I go for a bit. [They were very much like little chicks.] I was thinking of naming the pink one Rose and the white one Snowdrop.
What do you think?
no subject
[ Llewellyn liked to think it was sharing the similarity of very long ears. They made adorable little friends. The mental image of Inesa being followed around by a couple of little chicks was so very sweet. He chuckled softly. ] Follow you around like ducklings, I suppose. They’ll be in good company with you to care for them, though.
Rose and Snowdrop... Those are lovely names, very fitting for their colouring as well!
no subject
[Inesa thinks that Lancelot and Pretzel's friendship mirrors her relationship with the sweet detective.]
Yes. [A light blush colors her cheeks.] I admit that I have been thinking about flowers more often since we made those crowns. Do you think they will like those names? [She reaches forward, out of view of the phone's camera and gently pets the nearest sleeping ball of fluff]
no subject
[ He agreed after a moment or two of thought. It was rather funny how that worked out. Though he’d heard that pets mirrored their family. ]
I admit, I um... I’ve continued to practice making crowns since that day as well, little ones with spare blooms, just in case you decide you want to do that again sometime. [ And it was nice to think that she had enjoyed it that much. ]
I think they will. Lovely names for lovely little chicks, hm? You should test the names out, though. See if they like answering to them.
no subject
[Flower crowns should be available any time of year.]
I will.
[She smiles fondly down at the two sleeping chicks and then at Lancelot who is beginning to kick in his sleep.]
I do not know if I can move. [Inesa giggles a little awkwardly.] I feel a bit trapped. I had not expected them to run around until they were exhausted. [She wishes she had a comfortable basket or something to carry them all in together like a stroller for her three cute babies.]
no subject
[ Seeing his friend's predicament, he chuckled softly. ] Yes, I'm afraid it looks as though you're mm... rather stuck until they awaken, and they look terribly cozy.
Would you like me to uh- rescue you? I could use a little walk with Pretzel, and I could bring you something if you need anything.
no subject
She exhales a tired sigh.]
I think so too. I had not planned to stay here all day but I do not have the heart to wake them.
[Her eyes smile a fraction before her lips move.] Would you? If you could bring a basket with a pillow in it, I can keep them comfortable and be able to move.
no subject
[ He paused, jotting down a quick note to remind him of both those things. ] I do believe a basket and pillow could be arranged. If you think of anything else, let me know?
[ And the detective would be along shortly, or as short as it took for him and Pretzel to walk to the ranch after collecting the basket, pillow, and a few treats for them and the animals. ]
no subject
[She's not hard to miss, sitting near the edge of the Chocobo fields with three sleeping puffs of fluff on her once pink and white dress. The skirt of her long dress is smudged with dirt and mud but Inesa doesn't look particularly bothered by the mess. The comfort of her little friends is far more important.]
Of course but I think that will be enough.
Thank you Mr. Llewellyn.
no subject
[ He responded with a smile and a small polite nod in parting, before he shut off the feed and departed.
Inesa would probably spot him coming, being towed along by Pretzel, who was enjoying the walk. Big fields were meant for running around! His father needed to learn to keep up! Which was funny. Llewellyn was practically jogging along behind the dog. At least he tried to go on a morning run a few times a week, so he wasn’t too tired out as he moved along. There was a basket in his free arm. Inside it was a pillow and a few small bags of snacks for them and for the animals.
He kept his voice quiet, though Pretzel let out a few soft woofs in greeting. ] There you are, Inesa. I hope your legs haven’t fallen asleep. I do believe this should, uh, take care of one of your problems.
[ He set the basket down, carefully moving the bags out of it and fluffing the pillow a bit. ]
Changing tenses!
She loved the spring most of all.
Her gaze rose when she spotted the familiar dog bounding in the distance. It wasn't hard to spot him or Llewellyn being pulled along by his leash. "Hello." Her head tilted to the side and her messy braids slid over her shoulder. It was obvious that the little Chocobo chicks had been playfully tugging at Inesa's hair. "It is not so bad though I look forward to standing again."
Inesa reached for the basket with a smile. "This is perfect! Thank you." The first to go into the basket was Lancelot who had lifted his head and wiggled his nose to say hello to Pretzel before curling back into fluffy ball form. "They are tired out after running around for hours." Inesa had never seen Lancelot this tired out.
/o/ HURRAY
Llewellyn tilted his head slightly at the display, rather fond of how well the animals got along. His attention slipped to Inesa. She definitely looked as though she’d had her hands full with the chicks. Perhaps they’d been trying to preen her hair with their beaks. He could almost picture that as he eyed the messy breads. “I can well imagine you do.” He responded to her comment about standing. The detective wasn’t particularly good at sitting still... And she had clearly been there a while.
“You’re welcome. I um- brought some snacks for them when they wake up. Lancelot and Pretzel too.” He commented, eyes drifting to the chicks again. “I’m sure with a good nap, they’ll all be ready to run around again.” The birds seemed to practically be made to run around, from how fast he’d seen them around the city. He heard there were chocobo races too, like horse races, but Llewellyn didn’t go near that part of the complex, given he heard people bet on the races. Best for him to avoid temptation, old habits could be dangerous.
no subject
Inesa left the basket on the ground while attempting to raise herself to her feet. Her legs had fallen asleep and she wouldn't be able to get stand until the circulation returned. Having a human body was sometimes difficult.
"Could you give me a hand Mr.Llewellyn? I do not think I can stand on my own." If she had help the process would go faster.
no subject
The dog let out a disappointed whine, but pulled his head from the edge of the basket and trotted back to Llewellyn’s heels, sitting down dutifully.
The request gets a quick nod. “Oh- yup!” He responded, reaching down to carefully take her hand and help her to her feet. “Up we go, careful.” Llewellyn commented as he reached out with his other arm to steady her in case the pins-and-needles sensation from sitting like that for so long set in. It wouldn’t do for her to fall right back down again once she was on her feet!
no subject
"Ah." Her cheeks flushed. "Thank you Mr. Llewellyn. I do not know what I would do without you." She'd likely have fallen over.
There was a soft chirp from the basket as the two little Chocbo's began to stir. They didn't look like they were planning to move from their little basket perch but their dark black eyes were staring at the strange dog. It was a staring contest, one that Lancelot decided to sleep through. "It is alright little ones." Inesa knelt next to the basket with a sweet smile. "This is Pretzel. He will be your friend starting today." The Chocobo chick cooed though it didn't really look like it understood what Inesa was saying, it was just happy that she was talking to them.
no subject
They certainly seemed sweet, and so small compared to the fully grown chocobos he was used to seeing around the city. Pretzel’s tail wagged lightly as he heard his name, another pleased whine as he tried to greet the little chicks with an excited wiggle. Llewellyn chuckled lightly, “Yes, and you, Pretzel, will remember that they’re small and don’t know you that well yet, hm?” He commented, as though they dog would understand. He liked to think he would, even if many had told him dogs weren’t quite that intelligent. But Pretzel at least seemed to have calmed down and was acting on his best behavior, despite how excited he clearly was to make new friends.
no subject
Rose's head canted to the left and then the right. Her pink baby feathers fluffed up as a pleasing high pitch thrill called to her sister to wake. Snowdrop, the white chick began to wake, as did the now annoyed bunny. Lancelot wiggled his nose when he saw Pretzel again and gently bobbed Rose on the head.
"Oh." Inesa placed a hand in front of her mouth. "That was not very knightly of you Lancelot." The bunny did not seem to care and went back to sleep.
Rose looked like she was ready to bound from the basket towards Pretzel but she didn't look too sure about what to do. At first, she'd been ready to chase off the large new animal but Lancelot's response to her trill had stopped her.
no subject
Raising a brow as Lancelot bopped little Rose on the head, Llewellyn hummed lightly. “Not knightly behavior at all, but I suppose he may be a bit grumpy in his sleepy state.” Pretzel, on the other hand, was excessively curious now about the chocobo chick that was awake. The high-pitched sound it had just made had his head tilting one way, ears perking up comically, then shifting the other way. Was that a hello…? The pup couldn’t tell, he didn’t speak chocobo.
Instead, his tail thumped lightly on the ground again, deciding to give a friendly little sound in return. Llewellyn shook his head a little. Rose seemed so unsure of herself now. “Hmm… I think they’ll have to adjust to a strange creature like him. Not too many wrinkly dogs around here for them to have seen before.”
no subject
Rose wiggled and then popped out of the basket towards Pretzel. Snowdrop didn't move in response but Lancelot awoke and looked annoyed before turning over and going back to sleep. Lancelot was in danger of becoming a grumpy old bunny.
"Careful." Inesa cooed softly as Rose waddled up towards Pretzel. Her light pink feathers were fluffed out and it looked as if she was trying to be intimidating as she approached. Sadly the tiny chick only looked like a cute ball of cotton candy.
no subject
The detective had to stifle a small chuckle at how puffed up Rose looked. It seemed that she was the tougher of the two, trying to look like she was big and intimidating… But Pretzel only sneezed as he snuffled at the fluffy, downy feathers. His ears flapped a little from the force, but he only wagged his tail again with a little whine.
“Be gentle, bud. She’s a baby, and she doesn’t know what you are, hm?” He commented quietly, though he wasn’t too worried. The hound didn’t seem bothered by Rose’s suspicion and tough act, instead the hound tried to smell her again and undoubtedly was going to make himself sneeze again.
no subject
She doubted that he'd complain but she was mindful of his concerns even if he didn't voice them.
"Rose be nice," Inesa added softly as the pink chick thrilled at Pretzel. She was continuing her dance of intimidation until Pretzel sneezed, sending the little chick rolling back with the light moist force. Rose quickly flapped her little feathers but the discomfort was there and more important than the floppy four-legged monster.
no subject
Chuckling softly, he watched Rose’s antics with a raised brow. “I believe there is much miscommunication between these two at the moment. He seems to find her curious and… I think that may be the behavior of someone trying to look rather tough, hm?” Then, when Pretzel sneezed, he winced sympathetically. Poor chocobo did not need that, it certainly wouldn’t endear him to her at all. “Perhaps with time they’ll uh- come to an understanding?”
He hoped so. It seemed like a good way to get Pretzel more used to chocobos as well. Seemed important given how many there were in the city. Starting small seemed like the best way. “Why don’t we mm… walk and see if they can get along.” He commented, remembering he had something else to discuss with her, anyway. There was much on the detective’s mind these days, and she was one of several somethings.
Pretzel, unfortunately, wasn’t doing himself any favour. Seeing Rose flapping, he tilted his head one way and then another, then with his tail wagging, tried to move closer again as though he hadn’t learned his lesson.
