Ignis had a heck of a time trying to convince his husband to do something for his birthday. And of course he got met with resistance. Not wanting to cause an issue he let it slide but it still irked him. So the two compromised and decided to do a joint birthday party on Ignis' day who didn't mind sharing. And actually he was looking forward to sharing the day with his husband. So they planned a night for just the two of them, dinner and of course their cats.

The cats were off sleeping wherever so it gave the two men extra time together which pleased the advisor turned professional chef. He'd arranged the time off at the Lodge and left it in completely capable hands so he had the entire day before and day of his birthday off. The other chef even agreed to let Ignis have the third day off but Ignis was more than likely going to make an appearance because he was the owner of the establishment even if he wasn't going to be actually cooking anything.

Orders would need to be placed, ingredients replenished, and there were a million other things to do. So he kept that under his hat and bought plenty of food to cook.

Gifts for his husband lay sitting out on the table, crisply wrapped as they were in green paper. Dinner was going to be prepared, but for the moment he was sitting completely dressed fresh from a warm shower, but was standing in front of the mirror, trying to figure out how to style his hair. Should he leave it down?

And when he heard Nida, Ignis called out to him. "I'll be there in a few moments to start dinner darling."

The advisor grinner, pleased with himself over being something that he never thought he could ever be. Never in his wildest dreams would he ever think he was a distraction.

But then he looked over at his husband. "You being here is enough reason to make me smile." And mentally he told himself to say the words he was thinking at that moment. "And I am one very lucky man indeed."

Oh. Nida's heart jumped at that. Very lovely.

"You know I'm lucky to have you too? Blessed actually."

Ignis set down a few things and walked over and wrapped his husband in his arms, taking a deep breath and simply enjoying the moment. "You have quite the knack of saying the sweetest things."

Does he? Nida looks shocked by that. "Beloved, I just speak truth. As a man who lived so much of his life with lies, that truth is so much more important."

He sighed and gently squeezed the man in his arms. "True as that might be, it is proper to thank someone for their kind words or behaviour." Or both as it was in this particular case at least.

Well that's not so easy to argue with, so Nida doesn't. Instead he just lets himself be squeezed even as he smiles.

"You are worth it, though. All I do for you. All I give you."

"And I am forever grateful for your presence in my life." Ignis replied softly. He had no idea what he'd do without Nida now that he knew the man and he'd become such a huge part of his life. The man had come in and started filling holes in the advisor's heart and life that he didn't even realize that he'd had until his husband came along and changed his life forever.

"You're not going to lose me either," Nida said. He was still researching, if slower now, how to either stay here or go to Ignis's world. He won't lose his husband. He refuses.

Losing his husband was a huge fear that Ignis had. He just didn't give a voice to it because it frightened him. That was a thing he couldn't really defeat, though he did still do inquiries here and there.

"I will certainly hold you to that one."

"Hold me to anythign you want, beloved," Nida smiled at him, before leaning in to kiss him. Again. He loves kissing Ignis.

He took that kiss and tried his best to savour it. Some days he just wondered if today would be his last day here and disappear somehow as Yuna and others had done. There weren't any warning signs or any patters to it. But he wasn't going to worry his husband with that.

"Believe me, I shall."

Don't invite such fearful thoughts to his mind.

"Good. Now, let's get to the rest of our day, yes?"

"Yes." Ignis replied. He took one more moment to be near the man he loved and moved to getting pot holders down from their hooks hanging near the stove, and made sure he had everything else in order for Nida.

Well that was helpful. And Nida? He smiled.

"I'm ready when you are." Ignis replied, pulling the chair out for his husband, because manners and continuing to use them were of the utmost importance.

"I'm always ready for you," Nida promised, smiling fondly at his love. And then he could happily sit down. Time to have hteir meal and their night.

Pushing Nida in after the man sat down made Ignis smile. So then he went to serve their dinner to the man because he always made sure that he ate first.

It was just who he was.

"So are we doing this every year, correct?"

"We are doing this every year," Nida agreed with a nod. "If I can have hte time with you, it's worth it."

"Wonderful." Ignis smiled, getting a plate ready for Nida. But that did leave a question in his mind. "Would a gift or dinner on your actual birthday be an issue? Or should I simply save those things for our shared one?"

He asked because he loved to spoil his husband and would at any given opportunity.

That's... a harder question for Nida.

"I think I'd rather treat this as my birthday. Fully. If that's okay?"

He didn't want all of the other memories in the way after all.

He'd started eating while he waited for Nida's reply and nodded as he felt relief at an answer. Nida's preferences were paramount of course and Ignis loathed stepping on toes, especially those of his husband.

So he nodded. "Of course darling. We can certainly do things your way."

"Thanks," Nida answered. "Back home, my birthday was always a day of work. I also associate it with the passing of my parents. This day? This day is only good things, Ignis. Only happiness and you."

"Well we can do this from now on certainly." Ignis replied. He hadn't realized that Nida associated his own birthday with his parents passing away which made his heart ache silently for the man in front of him.

"Thank you," Nida smiles and nods. "I like it better this way. Having this together."

So he'd happily take this new birthday anyway.
