It was here. It was HERE! Lauri-Ell smiled as she looked at the large cart with layered padded out panes of carefully and custom made glass. And with it, a whole selection of the metal bars and poles and things she had made with Gili's help that were finally ready.

Lauri-Ell looked at her deliveries and looked so INSANELY gleeful, grinning massively at all she saw. She was excited, definitely excited. But...

"Now I have to get it all upstairs," she sighed. And assembled. Which she could do. But man, there was so much she had to do. "I should have arranged a day where I knew I had help."

Or someone with telekinesis, but that didn't seem likely.

2. And So The Building Begins | Blue Building Roof
Finally. It had taken her all of the day before to carefully move all of the supplies up to the roof, even with help, and the fatigue after had been too much to start the building process. So she had taken the day off, put out feelers to friends and neighbors to see if anyone wanted to help, and got up early to start in the markets. A basket of fresh turnovers and sausage rolls later, and after the making of two large pitchers of 'lemon-aid' Lauri-Ell made her way to the roof with the copies of all of the notes and designs she had made for the work.

It was time. Lauri-Ell clapped her hands together and smiled.

"Alright. Frame first I think!"

3. Things To Go In Glass Houses | Flower and Gardening Shops
Alright, now she had a lovely little greenhouse prepared, one that she could even get into. So now there was the rest that needed to be done. Which was why she had taken her cart around to a number of stores. Already she had acquired a few large bags of soil and some pots and trays for planting. But now?

Now Lauri-Ell was looking at small seedlings, not to mention bags of things proclaiming to be seeds. She looked... worried.

"But how do such very small things become such big and good plants?"

And what should she get? Food and healing things, that was what she and Yuki had agreed to.

"I don't know what to do," she mumbled unhappily.

Ah, he's heard of one. She smiles more brightly at that before pointing to the blue residence.

"On the roof, so it can get sun. We will be growing plants for food and for healing."

Plants for food and for healing, huh? That could be useful. It also sounded like something Aerith would be interested in. He made a mental note to tell her about it.

"I didn't realize we were short on either."

Aerith had definitely spoken with Lauri-Ell just a little about growing things. She had checked.

"We are not. But locals can need it."

"You're not the only one." Okay, she was the only one he knew of building a greenhouse on a roof. Wouldn't it be easier to just find a plot somewhere? Oh well, what did he know.

"Need a hand?"

A plot? Where would she even find one? No, she's building this so she can have plants all the time.

"Yes, I could use one. There are many things which need carried up and while I can do many, I don't know that I can do it all alone."

He looked toward the building, then the pile on her cart, gave a shrug, and moved to grab a bundle. He's evidently capable of carrying more than his lithe muscles would suggest.

"Where to?"

Well he's definitely fit! Like heroes back on Earth. She smiled and carefully took two padded pieces of glass out.

"The top of blue residence. I've got the stairs propped open."

He grunted a little under the weight, but otherwise seemed fine as he nodded.

"Sure." And he didn't speak again until he'd made his way to the roof, setting the bundle of framing down gently and taking a moment to flex his muscles. He could handle the work but it didn't mean it was easy. "Why flowers?"

Why flowers? What? That question seems ridiculous. The answer should be obvious.

"Because they are beautiful. Because they can help people as well. We are mostly doing foods we can give to people who need them."

Because flowers can help people. That sounded like something Aerith had said once.

"Who's we?"

"Myself and Yuki," Lauri-Ell said. "We've been planning for months. I have been working Master Gili to make the pieces for the greenhouse, and the glass was all commissioned. It took a lot of time to be ready."

"Yuki." It was spoken as though he was attempting to commit it to memory. "and Master Gili." More names he didn't know. Maybe he should pay more attention. It was hard to get jobs around town if you didn't know how to talk to. "Aren't there farms?" He thought he'd seen some, but what did he know about provided food?

"Yes there are farms. But farms sell food. And that requires money. Poor people, I have found, do not possess a lot of money."

ANd this upset her. There were children in need. How coudl she stand by?

"They don't." He knew that, but he also knew that wasn't one person's problem.

"Are there a lot of hungry kids around here?"

"Yuki and I have seen enough that we want to look out for them," Lauri-Ell answered. Perhaps they weren't everywhere, but no place was perfect.

"By growing food on top of a building." It wasn't a question, but he didn't know how plausible it sounded. Hey, whatever, to each their own. "Sure." And he headed back downstairs for another load. It was something to do.

"Yes. In a green house so we can grow for a long period. Then we will bring the food down and give it out," she answered. "The roof has lots of sun. That was what we thought made it good."

She smiled at the offered help and Lauri-Ell was quick after him to pick up a another load herself.

"Probably. I don't really know anything about farming." All he knew was being a soldier, after all. "Aerith could probably tell you more."

"I've never farmed before. But there are many people attempting to help me with this. Yuki and Llewellyn and Aerith included. I have spoken to her with the Tell Phones. She is very wise."

The woman had been a guidance she had not known to see.

"She...is, yeah." His voice was softer when he spoke of the Cetra, and hesitant, as though even he didn't really know how he felt, only that it was strong.

"I'll go grab another load." He rubbed the back of his neck slightly as he wandered off downstairs, hoping to avoid any awkward questions.

Oh, that sounded like fondness. If she was a wiser woman in these ways, she would very well poke at it. As it was, she didn't put together what his behavior might mean.

"Thank you, I shall move these things to a careful and protected place."
