Does This Count As A Haunting?
Who; Nida & Ignis
What; June Event
Where; Around the city
When; June 25th
Warnings; CW: Event typical violence, traumatic memories, attempted murder
Always Shadowed By Your Memory [Closed to Ignis]
It starts with a flash of a certain shade of red metal. The glint of light, caught when Nida was walking home after a shift, stopped him in his tracks. He sensed the wafting power of magic, but as ever couldn't tell what it was, just where. In the same direction as the flash of light.
Nothing could make Nida keep from moving at that flash of color. Because in his mind it equated with one thing and one thing only. Which was, sadly enough, a man that he desperately wished wouldn't show up here. So he began to follow, a slow prowling follow after a figure that with, more time and attention, he found to be wearing a red coat, not to mention the red hair. And that was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach.
"Elijah," he mumbled under his breath as he saw the figure pause and look around, catching sight of those brilliant blue eyes.
And that was when Nida made the worst mistake possible. Once Elijah disappeared into the alley, Nida went and followed. The red-clad figure was there, further ahead of him, almost in the reach of a quick blade. Nida came to a stop and then saw the man turning around to look at him. The cocky smile was there, the perfect curve of lips that once held Nida at the end of a hook, looking for more.
Which was when Siren screamed of wrongness in his head and the illusion faded. Nida was too stunned by that to do much but stare in shock as a 'fist' made of broken pieces of cobble stones pounded against his head.

So the advisor turned everything off, wrapped the food carefully and bedded Hibiscus down away from the two felines who knew better but Ignis sectioned him off anyway.
Heading out the door and locking it after him, he took to the streets, going towards the Guard headquarters. Repeatedly he took out his phone in an attempt to call and the more it went unanswered, the more worried Ignis got.
This wasn't like Nida at all.
The air was off which was normally pleasant and for whatever reason, the strategist found himself doing double time. He went the normal routes that Nida did and something told him to turn back around.
"Nida?"
Where had the man gone?

Nida called forth his magic, calling a cure into himself. Not that the spellwork was flawless. The low level cure didn't do enough for every pain he was feeling, but it was enough to take some of the edge off. Enough of the edge for him to thrust his hand out toward the creature and the motion unleashed the thunder spell. A bolt of electricity struck down from the sky, cleaving it from a clear sky, to strike the ground in front of the creature.

And that was when he saw the lightning and just knew that had to be Nida. He hurried the rest of the way and spotted his beloved in a fight. Ignis didn't give it a second thought, and summoned his Drain Lance to come down on top to shove it into the creature's head.

Nida, seeing a possible relief from his pain, thrust forward with another spell, this time ice to freeze the creature's feet to the ground.

They'd fought together before and the advisor had remarked at how good a team they made so he was definitely sticking to that point. So he dismissed his lance and readied his daggers.
The thing's attention was fully on him so he would run the distraction or even go in for the kill..whatever..or whoever this thing was.

The protect spell went off just in time.
"Careful, it hits like a behemoth. Those arms are pure cobble!"
no subject
That would even the odds here at a considerable level.

Elijah. The name they hadn't mentioned since Nida had told the story of how he'd ended up so broken. Of course he'd followed the ghost of his torment. And now? Now the creature that it had truly been was attacking Ignis. Not that it could turn easily to defend itself.
Nida pushed the rest of the way to his feet, and with his hands and legs too shakey to be relied upon for a good fight, he instead dove back into his magic. He didn't trust the lightning with Ignis so close, and Aero wouldn't do much when the thing was anchored. He didn't have a lot options, so he chose fire, hoping it wouldn't soften the ice too much. He grabbed the spell and threw the fireball, this aimmed for the more wooden core of the creation.

Instead he turned and slashed his daggers at the arm that swung. Now he was angry and confused and not sure how to feel. But he did know one thing, that questions could very well wait until they were done with this..thing.
He saw the fireball hit and nodded, turning his daggers to Fire and working on moving close to the wooden center to help the damage that was already being done.

"Go ice, love!"
no subject
However, when Nida went and used the water he nodded with the instructions and changed his daggers to Ice.

"How familiar are you with freeze thaw cycles and their affects on stone?" Nida asked, backing away form the creature as it worked to get back to its feet.

He's experimented on spells with Noct when they were away from Prompto and Gladio. Those two were always busy wrestling and being themselves. However, when he could, Ignis got Noctis alone and worked on studying how the Prince's (at the time) magic worked.

ANd spells were easier to target in this space for him and in this moment than a weapon.
And speaking of the 'it'. The thing stood now, fully, and raised cobbled fists that were actually cracking a little. It moved toward Nida, not Ignis, swinging at his head.
no subject
He couldn't let this thing get near Nida, and if that didn't work he would be more than ready to pull his lance back out and attempt to run it through. For now though he waited and fought to hold on and keep its attention.

"Iggy, get off of it!" Nida suggested. "I can run toward the ocean. We could try and get Siren involved."
no subject
He wasn't sure of this plan, but he had to agree because of Siren. "I'll follow behind."
With his lance, ready to jump.
no subject
Nida's head still spun but he moved closer to the creature and it lunged for him. Nida immediately rolled out of the way and started to move forward.
"Herd it with jabs if you have to."
It was time to find the ocean and let Siren sing.
no subject
But he followed along and kept Nida in his sights.
no subject
"We're coming up on the street. Can you move around hte edges to keep people back? I'll have to stay closer to it."
no subject
This was definitely more chaotic than he'd like it and he scowled as he had to jump back away from it.
no subject
"Hyne take you," Nida hissed, moving closer to try and get the creature to not run at a nearby child.
no subject
"This reminds me of Altissia." he declared, working his Fire daggers at the damn thing. That was where he, Gladio and Prompto had to clear out the citizens there for for Lady Camelia Claustra per her pact with Noct, in order to make way for Lady Lunafreya and the subsequent summoning of Leviathan.
no subject
"We'll swap stories. I can tell you about Fisherman's Horizon."
no subject
And while he had no idea what Fisherman's Horizon was, it did remind him of Noct and his love of fishing. But he had mere moments to think on it before it turned to dash after Nida again.
