Always Shadowed By Your Memory [Closed to Ignis]

It starts with a flash of a certain shade of red metal. The glint of light, caught when Nida was walking home after a shift, stopped him in his tracks. He sensed the wafting power of magic, but as ever couldn't tell what it was, just where. In the same direction as the flash of light.

Nothing could make Nida keep from moving at that flash of color. Because in his mind it equated with one thing and one thing only. Which was, sadly enough, a man that he desperately wished wouldn't show up here. So he began to follow, a slow prowling follow after a figure that with, more time and attention, he found to be wearing a red coat, not to mention the red hair. And that was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach.

"Elijah," he mumbled under his breath as he saw the figure pause and look around, catching sight of those brilliant blue eyes.

And that was when Nida made the worst mistake possible. Once Elijah disappeared into the alley, Nida went and followed. The red-clad figure was there, further ahead of him, almost in the reach of a quick blade. Nida came to a stop and then saw the man turning around to look at him. The cocky smile was there, the perfect curve of lips that once held Nida at the end of a hook, looking for more.

Which was when Siren screamed of wrongness in his head and the illusion faded. Nida was too stunned by that to do much but stare in shock as a 'fist' made of broken pieces of cobble stones pounded against his head.

"And you didn't." came the advisor's reply. He tried to smile and continue to keep the other next to him as some sort of physical reassurance to Nida that he was indeed alive and well. "But when we get home, we'll put you in for a hot shower and I'll prepare dinner while you do that."

Oh man, that sounds good.

"I'll even listen to your insistence that it's best for me."

Still, he did sway just enough to kiss Ignis. "I love you. Think I wanna marry you."

"It is so we can get you warmed up." And after getting the kiss and hearing the other's declaration he had to laugh. "We are getting married darling. We'll just need to hammer out a few more details."

"Yeah, I know," Nida smiled. "I might ask the boss for the day off to do the next of my parts of the planning."

Ignis might be rocking the venue and food, but Nida had agreed to confirm the flowers this week, and there was the clothes which he was supposed to get picked up and discuss alterations on as well. They both had their roles to play. He just liked to leave Ignis the ones about making things taste good.

That pleased Ignis to hear because he was really looking forward to this. He'd never been married before of course and naturally back home having to escort a king to his destiny didn't leave time for anything else.

"The summer is dwindling down and in no time it will be time to exchange our vows."

"It will," Nida agreed. "Is it okay if we wait until the fall is deep upon us? Not close enough to risk snow, but in a time where we can see some color in the trees?"

It would make him happy. Those tones, those smells, those feels, that was right. And beautiful. Like Ignis was to him.

He nodded. "So are we looking at late October or November perhaps?" This was going to be an important answer when he got it but narrowing down a month was good since most of the places he was inquiring with wanted to know a date.

Making Nida happy Ignis had found, was easy. It really didn't take much to make the man smile at the very least, and he couldn't wait to see how gorgeous Nida would be all dressed up. And the thought of exchanging vows made him both nervous and excited.

"Yeah," Nida smiled. October or November. They sound good. "Perhaps October? Later in it. Our joining could be like a harvest festival?"

Those were always so much fun.

"Alright, help me stumble home?"

"Late October is good, although we got together in late September when I found you high up in a tree." That night was still in his mind. And there were times he'd be laying in bed with Nida and think on that evening. "Little did I know that same man who was outside looking a bit lost one night at the local tavern and the one in the tree was destined to become my husband."

For now though Nida was on the receiving end of a smile. "I will always assist you darling."

"Would you prefer then?" Nida asked. Had it already been close on a year? He hadn't even realized it.

"You're a charmer," he observed, and a bit more of his weight settled onto Ignis.

"It will give us more reasons to celebrate, so late October will do splendidly." came the reply. Really, it gave Ignis extra occasions to shamelessly spoil Nida so he was completely fine with everything not being locked down to just one date.

And he had to smile with Nida's observation. Really Ignis only pulled the charm out for his mate and bore the man's weight without complaint. "I have to take it out once in awhile to make sure it hasn't gone rusty."

More reasons to celebrate. Nida's heart almost ached at the very idea of it. So much happiness.

How had he ever come to deserve it? In spite of himself, Nida started tearing up a little.

"You never seem rusty to me."

Ignis loved the Autumn months and how different varieties of food were plentiful. But he too loved when the trees changed their leaves and of course where he'd never really thought much of trees before, now of course he found that he loved them.

But he looked over at Nida when he said that Ignis never seemed rusty and he noticed the change in expression. Spotting a nearby bench, he moved them over to it, careful to set his fiancée down gently.

And when he spoke it was full of tender concern, "Darling, is something wrong?"

wrong? No. Nida rested on the bench and leaned against Ignis.

"You make me feel so much, love."

"Well that is good." Ignis smiled, lightly resting his head against Nida's. For good measure he took the other's hand in his too in order to give it a comforting and reassuring squeeze.

And as they sat there, one of those little odd carts came up, offering them a ride back to their place for keeping the people safe while the monster was dealt with in the water. This caused the advisor to smile at Nida. "Let's get a ride home and get you warmed up shall we?"

A ride. Nida frowned at hte chocobo there but then nodded.

"Yeah, that sounds right," Nida decided, looking to the cart. This will be fine.

"Take me home and warm me up. I'll take a shower, and you'll feed me and we'll talk colors?"

Ignis smiled and stood up, offering his hand. "It sounds like we've quite the evening ahead of us then and I'm rather looking forward to it." Of course he was more than happy to do all of these things and waited for the other man.

"When you say things like that, I feel like I'm offering you a buffet of the tastiest foods ever. So kind of you."
