1 Audio Broadcast & 2 Open Logs
Who; Llewellyn & Anyone!
What; 1 Audio broadcast & 2 Open Logs
Where; The logs are at the Historium & the market!
When; Over the first couple weeks in May!
Warnings; Nothing to start, will update if anything happens!
1 - Tellphone
[Clearing his throat a little, Llewellyn tried to think of where to start, he’s been snooping around for a few days and compiling some notes.]
Hello! I’m sure everyone is rather used to these sorts of broadcasts now, but uh— I’ve only just arrived in the last few days. My name is Llewellyn Watts-Maresh, to get introductions out of the way.
I’ve been catching up on the goings on already, seems like there’s a lot going on right now that I’d like to offer my assistance with. So! I’ll skip directly to the main point of my broadcast.
While this world is a significant improvement on my last... I’m finding myself in need of a starting point. I’m accustomed to having an office to work from, but I don’t believe I’ll have the funds to open something myself from the start. Is there possibly a private investigation firm already that would be looking for a detective? I… don’t need much space. I’ve gotten used to taking my work outdoors in the past, but a desk to keep my notes and work at on occasion would be appreciated.
[And he paused, humming a little as he mulled over a secondary thought he’d been playing with since he arrived.]
That aside, I’m also knowledgeable with floriography. Even if this worlds is different from my own, I’m a fast study. I’ve had practice in making arrangements for various meanings and occasions, and before I was pulled here I was dabbling in gardening…? So if anyone is looking for some part-time help there, I wouldn’t mind doing that on the side. I uh— I like to keep busy.
[And if he and his husband ever do figure out how to purchase a home, he knows they’ll need the money for it. Being cooped up in a small apartment is not ideal long term.]
Mm… That should do it, thank you.
2 - Historium
Llewellyn might have been a little slower to get here than he normally would have been, too distracted with this new world and getting his feet under him. But any sort of library was a good starting point to see what kind of references were available when you wanted to investigate and learn more about certain things about a place that might not be readily available through word of mouth. Or things that were just easier to find out on your own, as he was prone to doing.
It was… a lot more disorganized than the last giant library he’d frequented, but that actually wasn’t a big issue for the detective. His thought process already tended towards the chaotic and scattered, so he actually felt rather at home in the place. It wasn’t hard to start at one shelf, scan the titles, and grab something before he continued onward.
Anyone around the Historium would see Llewellyn either with a few books under his arm, or sitting on a table (using the chair as a footrest) and leafing through a selection curiously. Once in a while, he’d stop, jot a few thoughts down in messy scrawl in his notebook, and then continue reading…
He’s not so absorbed in his task that he doesn’t notice anyone else around him. Llewellyn could be quite paranoid and didn’t enjoy being surprised, so unless you’re particularly sneaky, he would be quite aware if someone were to approach…
3 - Market
There were several places that Llewellyn could be guaranteed to be found if you needed him. The first being where ever he worked (he truly was a workaholic at times), with his husband (obvious, perhaps), and the market… The last being because Llewellyn usually found himself in need of a snack every few hours, he tended to think better on a full stomach and his metabolism was rather high given how little he sat around.
It was also his other go to for making contacts and gathering information on a place. People talked, especially shop and food stall employees. They saw or heard about everything going on in the city, after all, and if you were a frequent enough customer, they tended to appreciate your business enough to be on friendly terms.
Given this was another new world… Llewellyn was starting from scratch. So over the course of his first few weeks in this place, through the day, he’d take a stroll through the market whenever he was feeling hungry. Every time he’d stop somewhere, he’d take a few minutes to chat and get to know the person working, he might not remember names right away, but if he stopped there frequently enough he’d start to commit things to memory (and he certainly wrote more important conversations down).
If approached, Llewellyn would actually be quite happy to talk, as long as no one minded his snacking… He’d even offer to share.

A thoughtful sound escaped at the suggestion,] I can certainly try if I ever meet him, though not everyone is receptacle to wisdom if they’re not ready for it yet— but! That’s where a little stubbornness from friends comes in.
[And patience, he supposed, he’d been granted a lot of patience on some people’s parts. While others had just been downright stubborn. At least he was stubborn too and knew how to put that into practice.
Her question gets a light smile to himself, because it’s good to be able to focus on the positives. Some of this world was strange and still a little too unknown, but he was still glad to be in this place now.] Well— It might sound odd, but I feel rather lucky to be here at all. The last world I was trapped in was… well, it was at the bottom of the sea. I feel lucky to have suddenly found myself in a world where I can see the sky and sun again? The day I was brought here, I discovered my husband arrived from there as well. And a friend too, so knowing how easily I could have ended up here, I’m very lucky to not be alone. I’m going to explore further around the city, of course, to see if I can spot anyone else too…
[He paused for a moment, before adding,] And now I’ve met you, so I am both lucky for the uh— chance to work with you and be friends?
[Poor Cloud, it seemed like he was going to have his work cut out for him.] Then I will be happy to show you them when the time comes. I’ll teach you what I know about my world’s traditions, and you can teach me about gardening and how you like things to be done around your shop.
[A pretty good trade, really. One that he would look forward to.
A soft chuckle escaped at that,]
They do say that, and I admit it’s something I try to live by myself.
no subject
A world at the bottom of the sea? That sounds...[ she wasn't really sure what that sounded like. Fantastic? Exciting? Dangerous? Maybe all those things at once. ] like you've had quite the adventure. It sounds like you've got a lot of experience with things like this already. Experience and luck. [ That was definitely extremely lucky to have his husband and friends end up here too. Then again she had a friend that seemed to have arrived around the same time as well, so she couldn't feel too envious of him. Just a bit envious at his experience. Truth be told she was a tiny bit freaked out by this entire situation. It felt a bit like just before she took the big plunge towards change and she was still trying to process how that had gone.
She let out a little chuckle. ] It's nice of you to already include me like that. [ Nice and not really something she was actually used to. It wasn't until recently that she'd really gotten actual friends. ]
I'm going to hold you to that! I have an amazing memory. [ Don't feel too bad for Cloud, he's used to it. ]
no subject
Quite an adventure is a good way to put it, I suppose. [And easier than going into too many of the less pleasant details of that world. The points worth mentioning were the ones he’d already spoken of, his friends and husband from there being here, and the more valuable lessons he’d learned while there.] And now we’re all here, in what seems like another potential ‘adventure’ that we’ll be sharing. [One that he intended to do his best to help his friends with in some way, new and old alike.
Or at least not get so far in over his head that he disappointed those who needed him.] Of course I do— those who enjoy flowers should stick together, I think.
[He was excited to have someone to talk to about such things, Llewellyn was looking forward to getting to know the woman better as much as he was looking forward to the work.
A small, awkward huff escaped him at that. Somewhat amused, but his tone was honest enough as he responded.] See that you do. I uh— can’t profess to having the best memory myself? But I’ll be sure to take notes as you teach, just to be on the safe side.
[So many notes, Aerith. So. Many. Notes. At least there wouldn’t be as many as there would be when he was on a case but… There would still undoubtedly be enough to fall out of his pockets through the day.]
no subject
It seems like the most positive way to put it. Do you have any advice to someone on their first step of the adventure in many worlds? [ She guessed it wasn't exactly her first experience, but that was intensely complicated. Intensely. She laughed again. ]
You think right! We have a comradery! Maybe we could even have a club. [ Of course, that was just a joke. There were probably much more important things to focus on here than a flower club. It seemed like it wasn't that bad of an idea to try to keep things as light as she could, at least for now. ]
No worries, if you're a really good student maybe I'll even let you have an open note exam. [ See, she's generous. Extremely generous. ]
no subject
This world was so different from the last, but he supposed there were some things that were important and might help when arriving in any world.]
Well… This place seems quite different? In good ways for the most part though, but I suppose if I were to have any advice… It’s learn as much as you can to start with, and accept the help of those who arrived before us? They, in my experience, at least know what to possibly warn us about or let us know is something to expect. Besides that… Making connections is always a good idea. In the last world I found things easier to uh— deal with thanks to the friends I made.
[And he couldn’t help a small, curious laugh at her enthusiasm, camaraderie was definitely close to the point he was trying to make in a way with his advice.] I was in a club once, in my world… It’s good to have a group to keep you motivated.
[An open note exam… Oh, that was interesting. Yes, this was one of those times that he wasn’t sure if she were joking or not.] That would be kind of you, I’ll have to do my best to be a good student. I’ve been told I’m a quick study, er— depending on the subject, of course.
no subject
I've already got some plans to see what I can hear. [ If this place will talk to her. Sometimes things didn't, but she'd already said she'd try. Even if she hadn't said it to someone, she still would have tried anyway. Besides, if she wanted to try to encourage things to grow faster she'd have to see if the land would help her out some. ]
I'm pretty good at accepting help from people that might know more. [ Or might be better at certain things. ] And I'm definitely good at making connections! [ She'd been the one to help Cloud learn more about that after all! Talk about someone who was terrible at the whole making connections thing. Cloud was...well, it was a good thing he had friends. ] Things are always easier with friends. I didn't have many before now, but it's...been pretty nice. [ To say the least. ]
Oh, what kind of club? [ Well, now she was just curious about that. Sorry she's nosey. ] What subjects do you have more difficulty with?
no subject
[He’d worked on that though, or at least tried to be gentler about his pushing.
Of course, Llewellyn had to pause and think over what she said next. The way that she’d phrased it almost made him wonder what she meant,] Mm… It’s good to have plans, and finding a variety of sources for information is smart? I find networks— or the tellphones here, tend to be the best sources of information. If someone finds something, they tend to spread it there first. And, of course, you may think of some I haven’t? The nice thing about having so many people from other places is that everyone tends to have different ideas based on their own experiences.
[His tone shifted a little, something soft that suggested he understood that it was an adjustment to suddenly have more friends in your life. Everything had been such an adjustment in the last world. He’d gone from feeling like the few he had in his own world were slipping through his fingers, to suddenly being around so many who seemed to want to know him better and accept him as he was. ] I can understand that… It’s strange to go from having so few people to a lot, almost something to get used to remember there are people you can turn to? But it’s definitely nice.
[You don’t learn anything if you aren’t nosy, and as long as Aerith didn’t as him about topics that made him uncomfortable? He’d be happy to answer.] I was in a running club in my world. I found that it kind of helped to quiet the mind? No one really knew each other well, but it was nice to do something with a group.
[The question of subjects gets a small hum] I’m not particularly good with anything to do with engineering, or chemistry I suppose… I try to pay attention when a colleague of mine tries to explain something, but I confess I get rather distracted most of the time.
[To be fair to Llewellyn, Detective Murdoch was not known for being particularly engaging at times. People had reportedly fallen asleep during his lectures on finger prints. Depending on how long winded and technical people got, Llewellyn could either pay attention or simply found his thoughts wandering off and his attention span flying out the window.]
no subject
I guess I'll have to look over the tellphone then. [ Her tone at the word tellphone betrays just how silly she thinks the name is. It's amusing to say the least. ] I've got a few other places I think I may be able to look for some information. [ Maybe information that other people can't quite get on their own. At least she really hoped she could. She'd already gotten a feel for the place just by wandering around and it definitely had something to say. She just had to coax that something out, simple as that, right?
She let out a little laugh and hummed in agreement. ] You hit the nail on the head. It can be hard to get used to but it is...nice. [ If not...worrisome. For just a second that worry leaked into her tone before she managed to push it away. There wasn't a reason to dwell on what she knew about the future that much anymore. Was there? ]
Ah, a club runner I see. Important person. [ She teased a bit, but she did find it interesting at the very least. She couldn't really imagine doing something with a group like that. Not that she hadn't wanted to, it was more that... well, as a kid a lot of people had found her really weird. She was pretty sure a lot of people found her weird now but they'd just gotten used to that weird. Besides, as she'd gotten older she'd been able to give them useful things like herbs and flowers. Can't hold the weirdness against a girl that was so bright and helpful. ]
Don't worry, I don't think I'd be too interested in paying much attention to either of those things either. People that like science seem to get too caught up in it. [ Was that a hint of something she actually....didn't...like...? Yes. And her entire tone got a lot more serious with the admission too. ]
no subject
[Llewellyn wonders about what other sources she might find, of course, and because he had a priority put on information right now, he spoke up again.] Hm… If you do manage to learn anything from the places you think of, I hope we can exchange information? I’ll certainly be sure to keep you updated if I learn anything myself.
[Which he… probably would have done, anyway. Aerith had quite endeared herself to him already, between her rather charming disposition and her offer to teach him. He’d want to make sure she knew what she needed to or was warned if there was something to be worried about.]
Oh— I don’t know if I would go so far as important. [He responded a little clumsily at her tease, an embarrassed smile in his voice.
His voice dropped off a little as he listened, the shift in Aerith’s tone was rather apparent. That was an interesting detail, especially compared to how she spoke and responded to most other things.] I confess… You’re quite right, sometimes people get a little too lost in the science that they miss things around them. I’m sorry if you’ve had to deal with those who have, it can be frustrating.
[Of course, Llewellyn hardly realized how on the mark he was there, but his words were sincere. Between feeling a little frustrated when Murdoch refused to see an alternative to his experiment that was more likely to be useful, or the whole ‘experiment’ he’d been living in for a year… Science. Not always a good time depending on the person.]
no subject
Don't worry, if I figure anything out I'll make sure to let everyone know. [ The only thing that would change that would be if the place asked her not to tell. If it had a good reason she might have to respect that. ]
Well, I'm going to go with important. [ So, he'll just have to deal with it. No choice here. He'd just have to deal with her now thinking he was a very important club runner. ]
That's been mostly my experience of it. And no, don't be sorry, it's okay! Worse things could have happened. [ She did appreciate the sentiment but she didn't like dwelling on things. Especially things like that. ]
no subject
[And Llewellyn couldn’t deny it… Creepy was a good way to put it.] They were useful sometimes… Couldn’t lose it— But they had their unfortunate side effects, and I certainly didn’t like thinking about how they got there. [Or the many warnings he received about what happened if you tried to remove it yourself.
So he was quick to move on, focus on other things now. That world was behind him, after all, and while he was grateful for some of the things he’d learned and the people he met… It was best left behind him unless he needed to make a comparison to figure this place out.
An awkward, small chuckle was heard.] You don’t seem like the sort who’s mind I can easily change, so I’ll let you think that and hope that I don’t disappoint you on that.
[Not dwelling was definitely his preference himself, even if it was hard to not some days. At least this world didn’t seem to give off the impression that it was an experiment too. More of a world desperate to rebuild itself, though there were still a few points on that from that didn’t make sense to him.] Well! At least we know we won’t have to worry so much about experiments, or one of the two of us boring the other with mm… science babble?
[Science babble, certainly a term that his colleague would have approved of.]
no subject
I think I'd rather be able to lose something than have it put in me like that. [ Thanks but no thanks. She'd had enough of people talking about creepy things like that. ]
You're quick to understand! [ That's good, then she won't have to spend time trying to convince him to just go with it. ] I bet you won't disappoint me.
[ She chuckles, though there's a tiny forced quality to that chuckle. It'll smooth out eventually, or at the very least she'll force it out. ] True enough. We can safely be assured that we're not going to be boring or potentially crazy. Wait--you're not secretly evil and crazy right?
no subject
I think I’d like the portable aspect more if you could, um… fix it to your clothing, perhaps? Like my pocket watch? [He doesn’t usually lose that, unless he forgot to put it on. But he would at least agree that not having it implanted in his head without his permission is preferable. A small positive to check off in the tellphone’s favour.]
I do try to! [Some things went over Llewellyn’s head though, but generally they were little things like jokes or subjects he didn’t quite understand… And, if his husband were present to add, flirts sometimes were slow to land.
He hummed a little at her certainty though, a slightly awkward and concerned sound. Llewellyn tried very hard to not disappoint people, but… he felt like it had in the past. That wasn’t to say that he had, just that he tended to take responsibility for things that at times were outside his control.
Her question gets a surprised pause from him though, his tone returning to something a little more normal.] Mm… Nope. Well— as far as I know I’m not, in my experience one doesn’t always realize when they’re either of those things.
no subject
Oh! That'd be nice for sure. Maybe the accept design suggestions somewhere. [ For that they'd have to figure out exactly where they came from though. It's not like you could just submit suggestions to air, right? Well, maybe she could. But not everyone could actually talk to planets. ]
Your trying pays off. [ At least in her opinion. ]
Mm...[ He had a point. Look at Sephiroth. He was wrong, so very wrong, but he seemed convinced he wasn't. He seemed to really think what he was doing was the right thing to do. Instead of realizing how crazy he was. Then there was Hojo. Hojo definitely thought he was an amazing genius scientist despite the fact that he was definitely just evil and crazy. Super crazy. ] True enough. I actually just ran into two people that fit that. Super crazy and evil and somehow completely unaware. [ She might have felt bad for them in a different situation. Instead she just thought they sucked. A lot. ]
no subject
[Had his idea been that good? He smiled a little, maybe it was something to mention. He’d already caught his husband leaving his on the counter on more than one occasion. Keeping in touch was not going to be easy at this rate.] If they do take requests, perhaps I’ll mention it if I ever have their attention. Uh— after the more important questions are out of the way, of course.
[Even if he did tend to jump around a bit.
The detective frowned a little at the fact that she’d had to deal with not one but two unhinged and evil individuals…] They’re always the more difficult to deal with, harder to pin down and stop. [Especially when they somehow had so much support, the people closest to them were so very blind.]
no subject
I thought that was an important question. [ Aww, now she's sad that it wasn't a priority suggestion. ] I hope they do take requests though. Or at the very least that they'll talk to us. [ It'd be nice to hear from them.
Sadness edged into her voice when she spoke again. ] Sounds like you've got some experience too. I think the worst part is that they really don't seem to understand that they're not right. [ At least she was pretty sure that was the case for Sephiroth. Hojo on the other hand? He may realize it and just not care. ]
no subject
Oh— It is, but there are just a few things ahead of it. [He responded quickly,] What with some of the things that went on in the last world, and some general questions about living here… I’ve been trying to work out a list.
[Hopefully whichever Aspect he managed to gain an audience with was patient enough to let him get through them all.] I think their willingness to talk and take requests into consideration would be a good measure of what we can expect in some ways.
[It would be a starting point, and those were important.
Llewellyn fell silent for a moment, it didn’t seem right to bring about a darkened mood after all.But they both seemed to have some experience with individuals who were less sane with very poor moral compasses…] Unfortunately, it’s a constant in most worlds from what I’ve seen. [A small thoughtful sound escaped, not about to go into details.] But I’ve always thought it was best to at least try to stop them, to make things better. That’s um… all we can do.
no subject
I guess I can allow a few questions before it. [ She teases. ] I hope they'll be willing, even if it's just a bit of their time.
[ If he could see he'd see that she looked a little bit sad, thankfully he can't so she can try her best to sound as though she's not bothered. ] That's not surprising to hear. [ Disappointing though. ] You're right though. And we're going to stop them back home. I know we will.
no subject
[The detective’s tone did brighten a little at her offer, it would be good for everyone if they all shared information. Even if he didn’t have a place to keep his notes yet other than the apartment.] Thank you, Aerith. I appreciate that, the more we all know… the better prepared we’ll be.
[He even chuckled a little when she teased him this time,] Mm… That’s very kind of you, I promise it’s only a few. [At least it would start out as a few and then grow from there. The Aspects might regret letting him bother them.] That’s all we can hope for to start, and then we can work our way up from there.
[The constant of ‘bad people’ was disappointing thing to realize, and a worrying one as he discovered just how bad some of them were.
Llewellyn’s voice softened some and held a genuine wish to it when he responded.] I certainly hope that you do. They always slip up eventually, and a good team on your side helps.
no subject
Exactly. It sounds like we'll all need to stick together. I'm going to try to see what I can fid out in a few days. Should I let everyone know after or something? [ She's not really sure how to go about doing that really. ]
I've got a really great team and some secret advantages of my own. I think we'll stop him. [ Now whether or not they'll do that before or after some really bad things happen, well...she's not sure. ]
no subject
[Of course, Llewellyn was just throwing theories around at this point. Without more solid evidence… he couldn’t really say with any degree of certainty.
He snapped out of his more serious ‘thinking mode’ and the lightness returned to his voice as she asked his advice.] That’s the nice thing about us all being in the same boat, we all are more inclined to stick together and help… [For the most part, anyway…] I would say that letting everyone know after you learn something is a good idea, this tellphone… network? [He’s not sure what to call it, but it was similar enough considering it seemed to broadcast their messages to everyone.] It’s the best way to spread word quickly without having to speak to everyone individually.
… Though if it’s something you’re worried might be a sensitive topic involving those in charge, or that you aren’t sure if there’s enough evidence to back something up, sometimes talking about it with one person first isn’t a bad thing. Especially if it involves our hosts, I’m not entirely sure how much they pay attention yet.
Secret advantages? [Pops out rather curiously at her next comment. Llewellyn knew he shouldn’t be nosy, but sometimes his mouth was faster than his filter.]
no subject
I hope that'll be the case. That we all help each other out and pitch in. [ She hummed to herself for a moment. ] I guess I'll do that then if I find anything out, make a little announcement and spread the word. [ She pauses. ] Oh, I didn't think of that. I guess it is possible they're paying attention and might not want us to know certain things. [ Though nothing had given her the impression that anyone involved in bringing them here had really bad intentions towards them. course, she could be wrong but she was usually pretty good at picking up on things like that. ] Do you really think our hosts might be bad?
[ She chuckles at his question. ] Yup, but they're a secret. Can't just tell them anyone, right?
no subject
There could be things they don’t want us to know, or things they aren’t sure they want us to know yet. People in charge sometimes make decisions to hide things, not necessarily for nefarious reasons but… [He didn’t mean to alarm her, of course, but it seemed safer to warn her of the possibility. Sometimes when people got too close to the truth, things went badly for them…] I don’t know what I think of them, if I’m being entirely honest. They could be good for all I know… But it would be careless of me to not at least consider that they might bad, or that they haven’t been entirely honest with us.
