Winger Fun And Games?
Who; Lauri-Ell and All Takers
What; Lauri-Ell Learning About Winter games.
Where; Wherever Snow Is Played With
When; Early to Mid February
Warnings; None!
1. Do You Wanna Build A Snow-Man?
Lauri-Ell was not adjusting well to winter. Not at all. There was so much of this snow on the ground, and it was cold, it was wet, and clearly there was no use for it all. Or so Lauri-Ell thought until she was on the way back from the forge one afternoon. There were things happening alongside the road. People gathered around mounds of the snow, shaping them into large balls and then stacking them onto each other.
"I do not understand," she said, frowning at the people working. "Surely this would just make you more cold."
2. Snowball War
Being as large as Lauri-Ell was meant that in many ways, she was an easy target, intentionally or otherwise. In this case she was so large that a snowball meant for one target could easily fly past them and instead strike the huge blue woman. In this case it hit the side of Lauri-Ell's face. The cold on her skin was jarring. Almost upsetting.
She turned her attention slowly to the person who had struck her with the projectile.
"You wish conflict between us?"
Games were not something Kree knew. So she truly didn't know what was going on.
3. Sledding Adventures
Here, at least, was something explained to Lauri-Ell before she first saw it. Sledding was no good if the runners on sleds were not sharpened to a degree, and who else would Gili have sharpen them than Gili's apprentice? And since Lauri-Ell was so large and had more tolerance to the cold, who better to deliver the things?
So it was that Lauri-Ell approached the sledding hill with a number of sleds slung over her back by their pull strings, trudging up the hill to deliver them.
"Here," she says as she puts them down. "Mistress Gili said I should bring these. And watch the event. She said the contrivances aren't for hauling goods, though. Do you know their purpose?"
Okay, maybe she hadn't understood the explanation at all.

Snowman!
But their parents weren't far and were helping so it seemed. And he made it a rule not to just jump in and help because that would be rude. So he sat on the wooden slatted bench minding his own business when he heard Lauri-Ell's voice.
He had the books for her but they were at his apartment so they weren't on hand at the moment. But he could still let her know about them, he'd kept his promise.
Her words though made him smile. "Making snow men is something that's supposed to be fun, even though it does make you a little colder to be touching and molding it."
Re: Snowman!
"But these do not look like men."
Sorry, but she is very confused. Being around humans means she is so very often confused.
"They have no arms. Or legs."
no subject
"But as far as arms go, kids usually use sticks for those. Sometimes carrots are used for noses and berries are used for eyes." It was kind of amusing to see someone so unused to something that he could take for granted.
"Did it not snow..where you're from?"
no subject
"There are planets the Kree control where there is winter. Often, though, we use terraforming and other technologies to make planets suitable to our needs, or control climate within our cities. So while yes, there is snow in many places Kree are from, I personally have never encountered it."
no subject
"So you can work magic. Can you do something like that here or is it just where you're from?" And then Yuki stopped and shook his head. "I'm sorry, I'm just being rude by asking so many questions."
no subject
"What, magic? No. We do it with machines. Kree do not use magic. Hybrid Kree-Skrull can, but not Kree. And I am not an engineer to make such systems myself. Though your questions are welcomed."
no subject
"Machines?" Yuki asked, after being told it was okay to ask questions. He had no idea how machines could produce snow like this or whatnot. But it was still interesting to learn.
Curious rat was curious.
no subject
Which she didn't know the function of beyond that.
no subject
"Well Winter is cold, but you can go ice skating, have snowball fights or even make snowmen or go sledding." He wasn't really sure Lauri-Ell would be into any of that, so he shrugged lightly. "Or you just walk around in it and listen to it crunch beneath your shoes."
no subject
Nope, none of this makes sense. Crunching doesn't make sense either.
"Back on the Kree worlds, we'd make sure this stuff never fell on the roads or side walks."
no subject
So Yuki just shook his head. "You don't have to do anything with it if you don't want to." But then his grey eyes looked up at his companion with a small smile. "Winter's nicer than Summer though. So I guess I should try to build a snowman while I have a chance."

"Did you bring any mittens or gloves?"
no subject
"I so not know what mittens are. The only gloves I have are for my uniform or my forge work. Would those do?"
She could go somewhere to collect them. But they weren't exactly warm. The blacksmithing gloves were insulated against heat though.
"Hot chocolate? I cannot imagine why one would wish to heat a chocolate bar. Would it not mealt?"
no subject
"I can..show you the hot chocolate later if you want."
no subject
no subject
"I'll wait right here." he replied with a smile. And if it made Lauri-Ell happy after she saw her creation and had hot chocolate, well then he sort of would pay back the kindness that he'd been shown.
no subject
"Please show me what to do next?"
no subject
He gestured over to where some children were currently rolling a medium sized ball of snow into more of it.
"So..whenever you're ready we can start."
no subject
Which means HUGE eyes.
"This is delicious!"
no subject
"There's plenty more of that if you want it."
And he'd go get it for her to be polite.
no subject
"Human foods are so intriguing."
