He is beauty, he is grace, see him fall right on his face. >>;;
Who; Caelan and you!
What; Caelan is back from the dead, and he’s not happy. 1 Open log & 1 Open Network Post
Where; The fountain square, and tell-phone network.
When; Early November, post Bear defeat
Warnings; Expected references to a violent death, probably alcohol at some point, and to note: He will be blind for these threads, as per the cost of resurrection. Expect a less charming and happy seal man for a while.
The Fountain Square
Being returned to the city was a relief, honestly. Even if he couldn’t see the place he’d been, he knew he wasn’t in there anymore. The air was fresher, and he could feel the sun on his skin. It was a vast improvement on the last few days, in his opinion. He’d be happier if he could A. See it and B. Knew where the fuck his stuff had ended up post bear-mauling.
Yes, Caelan has priorities. The whole processing his death thing can wait until after he finds his sealskin.
Instead, he frowned at the world around him, eyes unfocused and not fixing on anything in particular. Standing around here unfortunately wasn’t going to get him anywhere, and even if he couldn’t really see where he was going he could at least find some out of the way place to sit and figure out how he’d get home.
... Or maybe the tavern.
So he took two steps... and ended up tripping with an uncharacteristic lack of grace right over the side of the fountain into the water with a splash and an indignant sound.
Because of course he would, why wouldn’t that happen next...?
Rather than kick up a fuss, he just let himself lay in the fountain for a minute or two. It’s fine, selkies can’t die by drowning, he’s not risking another trip to the mausoleum. He just needed a minute to reflect on all the poor life choices that led him right up to this moment.
Definitely going to need a drink... More than one, in fact.

[Alright, Caelan very rarely makes use of the network. He hates the tell-phone for multiple reasons, and he’s more of a face-to-face kind of guy. But things are complicated, and he’s getting anxious (Him! Anxious!) about something very specific.
And to make matters worse, it’s not like he can do much about it right now. He can’t see, his eyes haven’t worked since he woke up to Athony telling him what the deal was with dying in this world. Sure, he was glad that he wasn’t permanently dead and all, but this was still less than ideal.]
So as if being murdered by a flea-infested, walking rug wasn’t bad enough— [Oh yes, his accent is stronger today. Caelan couldn’t be bothered to control his voice at all right now. He’s in a mood. Also, yeah, he was missing all this time because he had a run in with the demon bear.] apparently while death isn’t permanent, it’s not without it’s “complications.”
[Can you hear the air quotes? They’re there.
He paused to take a deep breath, he needs to not sound so agitated. He’s got his image to think about.]
My eyes are fucked up. By which I mean they don’t work at all at the moment. It’s making another problem of mine a little more complicated. In the rush to get away from the bastard, I lost my satchel. It’s large, brownish, probably covered in blood. Someone else is more likely to see it before I do. [Ha...] so I’d appreciate if someone would give me a call if they’ve noticed it somewhere since my run in with the bear a few weeks back.
I’ll even reward the person who does depending on how it goes.
(ooc: Caelan will be in need of assistance for a few in game days until his eyes start working, but he will be snippy if you ask what’s in the bag. As of yet, no one has it and it’s still missing. If you want to have had that your character already found it, hit me up on
whimsicalspook or Discord WhimsicalSpook#8219 (or the discord group chat!) and we can discuss. Otherwise volunteer to help the seal man search, be his seeing-eye-person!

[yeah he’s not sure what any of the rest of that meant.]
Genetic... testing to make sure the blood is mine? Afraid I’m not sure what that is, but if you explain it a little better, I might be agreeable to it if it makes this faster.

no subject
Alright. You don’t need much, yeah?
no subject
[Listen, the thing is useful.]
no subject
[Because he’d honestly had enough of that for a while. He hummed a little,]
I’m in the red building, apartment B-05 whenever you find yourself a spare moment. I won’t be going far like this, so I’ll be there.
no subject
[Red building. Yes, she will manage it.]
I shall be there then. I'll see you soon.
no subject
[He responded before hanging up.]
no subject
Hellow?
no subject
He was currently sat on his couch, violin within reach to fuss with if he got bored. He was getting a little better at moving around the apartment, but he wasn’t keen to tempt the fates unless he had to.]
Hello, come on in. I’m over here, on the sofa.
no subject
It is you, the music man.
no subject
Oh, I do answer to music man, mischief maker, pain in the neck and many other assorted names. You’re welcome to call me Caelan though, if you like.
[What had her name been again...? He hummed a little,]
If my ears aren’t as broken as my eyes right now, I believe you’re Lauri-Ell? From the fair a while back.
no subject
[As if a woman of her... stature was easy to forget.]
I have brought my hammer to test your genetic structure. I shall hopefully be able to use this to provide you assistance.
no subject
[He grinned a little, before gesturing.]
Grand, it certainly sounds more promising than me trying to wander around like this looking for it. Anything you need me to do?
no subject
You need only stand there. One moment.
[She taps the hammer against the floor and leans it forward, to touch the broad head of it against Caelan's chest. It would feel warm, even leave a tingling sensation in his skin. And she nods to herself.]
It has the data now. Thank you.
no subject
Doesn’t that just tickle.
[He mumbled with a curious little expression before he settled back against the couch. That had been quick.]
If it works, then I’m pretty sure I owe you thanks instead.
no subject
I do not need thanks. I will do my best to assist you, though.
no subject
He raised a brow at her insistence that she didn’t need his thanks. It was odd but it wasn’t like he did the things he did for thanks either.]
I suppose I can understand that, even if I can’t deny I’ll be grateful with or without the need.
[He’d just have to figure out a different way to express it, he supposed. Caelan usually is, after all, a sneaky one.]
no subject
[He is a very interesting man. As it was, she leaned her hammer against her side.]
Where was the last place you remember your bag being?
no subject
When he finally answered, it was with a little frown.]
I was cutting through the market when I ran into the bear... When it came at me I was heading for an easy escape route near an eastern canals. When the uh— damned rug caught up to me, I tossed it down a side street. If I could see I could probably retrace my steps but...
[He shrugged lightly, obviously that was out at the moment.]
no subject
[This should be sufficient information for her to work with. Lauri-Ell offers him a salute before remembering he cannot see it.]
I shall stay in contact.
no subject
He smiled though, hoping he was directing it at Lauri-ell instead of something silly... like the wall.]
Grand, I look forward to hearing your lovely voice with updates.
no subject
Thank you. I shall go directly!
no subject
I wish you luck in the search, you’ll know where to find me if you need me for any questions.
no subject
[She nods and moves away. Time to get to work.]

(ooc: good place to ftb I think?)
