Built Like A Bear, Helpful Like A Service Dog

Who; Lauri-Ell and You
What; Lauri-Ell Around, not afraid of bear
Where; Bay Blades, Market, Library, Tavern
When; Second Half of October
Warnings;

1. Giant Blacksmith To Be At Bay Blades

The work was not something that she had set out to dedicate herself to. No, it had merely been that Lauri-Ell had wandered the city exploring, only to come across a place the smelled of fire and coal and hot metal, where she had found a straining woman wrestling with a large sack of coals. A hand given and a conversation later and they were sizing her for gloves and an apron and so the city had a new apprentice blacksmith.

One who even now stood by the forge, not even with a hammer in hand, but rather working on carefully sharpening a sword that Gili had finished just that day. And, when someone approached, she looked up and smiled at them.

"Greetings, this is the Bay Blades. For what have you arrived? Show I summon master Gili? She currently handles any orders that require placement."

2. Shopping Is A Girl's Best Friend Markets

A small stipend, Lauri-Ell was finding, was more than enough to provide for her. In fact, it was enough that she found herself moving through the markets, looking for little things that would make her home more comfortable. And, in this case, she did it at the stalls. She was paused at one of them now, running her hands over a blanket decorated with flowers. Oh yes, it looks so good.

Then there was another stand, at this one she picked up a small plush doll that looked like an orange cat, smiling at it fondly. There were clearly memories here, ones she didn't know how to approach.

3. Dinner and Drinking Under Tables Tavern

There was little need for Lauri-Ell to use her small stipend on food. Instead Lauri-Ell made her way to the tavern at night and there she sat at the table, smiling. The answer was an easy one.

"I can take anyone in arm wrestling," she explains as she puts her arm on the table, poised and smiling. "If I win, you pay for my meal?"

And once the night has passed and a meal is finished, there's the matter of drinking. Alcohol served here does little to Kree physiology, but it is fun to enjoy it with the people, for they seem to merry. Lauri-Ell smiles once her table is cleared and gestures people around.

"Stories. I will trade stories for a drink or two. Yes?"

4. Books Are The Answer Library

Engineered as she was, Lauri-Ell needed less sleep than many others, and even though her work at the smith's shop was sun up to sun down on week days, there was always the evenings and weekends for her to pass time. Which found Lauri-Ell regularly in the library, selecting books and finding a place to sit down and read. Even now she had open a large tome on the theory of blacksmithing. Yes, perhaps she was working some, but it was so very intriguing. Especially since her species had mostly skipped right past the traditional trials and tribulations of learning to smelt and smith.

"How interesting, these sand molds," she mumbles to herself as she finishes with one chapter and puts the book down. She had done some work, so clearly it was time for the pleasure of reading. For which she picked up a smaller book. One that was clearly a book on flowers.

"If only I could trust flowers would not attack here."

Library

Felicity couldn't tell you exactly why she was in the library of all places, really it wasn't like she hated libraries but she just preferred technology to books these days. She was standing in a section filled with old tomes trying to reach a book on the top shelf.

"Figures, a vertically challenged person would want to read a book on the top fracking shelf," She muttered mostly to herself but she overheard the comment made by the girl with the flower book.

"Why would the flowers attack?" She asked.

Markets!

Yuna smiled at the orange cat plushie as the large blue woman lifted it from the table. She hadn't thought to purchase it herself but the small stall had caught her eye and she had come closer to get a better look at what the stall had to offer.

Lauri-Ell wasn't strange to her, in fact, she was used to large blue people. The current leader of the Ronso was one of her best friends and in the past, he'd been her Guardian. As Yuna stopped next to the stall she noticed that Lauri-Ell didn't look like a Ronso. She wasn't covered in fur though she had the muscles to fit in with the other Ronso women.

It made Yuna a little homesick and without thinking about it, she spoke to the blue stranger with a warm smile. "Cute, isn't he. Are you going to get him?" She wasn't looking at Lauri-Ell but at the little orange cat.

Markets!

"Really? I've never had any pets but there were a few dogs in the village." Yuna remembered seeing them but she'd never had time to play with them. She'd become a Summoner and that had become her whole life.

"What was its name? if it's okay for me to ask."
whereishe: (Whistle)

Markets!

Yuna grinned. "Chewie? That's a cute name." She didn't have any pets herself but she imagined that if she had, the creature would end up with a similar type name.

"It's a good purchase. I haven't found anything from Spira here. It's very different from my home." It made her a little homesick but she was used to being away and traveling. One day, she'd find her home, wherever that might be.

Yuna smiled. "It isn't perfect but it's home and I love everyone I've met there." She didn't mind being away from Spira. It was nice to live in a world where no one knew her name or what she'd done.

She could just be herself here.

"Where are you from? I admit, I thought you were one of the Ronso when I first saw you." The word was spoken affectionately, as her mind wandered to kimhari. She wondered what her guardian was doing now.
whereishe: (Who are you?)

"The Ronso's are a group of people who live in the mountains on Spira. They are many different colors but primarily blue and very tall like you. Though they also have a tail." Yuna's smile faltered. "I see. I don't know what a Flagship is like but I was living on an Airship before I arrived here. I miss the freedom."

Yuna grinned. "They're beautiful. I've traveled over them a few times. There are old ruins at their peaks and even a hot springs within the mountains. I wish I could show you." It was hard to explain how amazing it was.

"It's so high and the wind blows across the peaks, sounding like a song that you can sing along too."

"Oh? I'd be happy to sing for you some time. Or maybe I can teach you a song." Music was a beautiful thing and a part of Spira's traumatic history. The hymn of the faith had been able to calm Sin. Now music held another place in Yuna's heart. It was a way to express herself and release the emotions she felt bottled up inside.

"Have you tried it?"
whereishe: (I haven't forgotten)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-11-19 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yuna's grin widened. "I know Caelan. He works for me at the Gullwing's office. He plays wonderful music." Though sometimes at inopportune moments.

"I just sing what I feel. I don't think too much about it."
whereishe: (Who are you?)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-11-19 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"It does. I think music comes from the heart and can communicate how you're feeling when you can't put it into words." It was a romantic notion but one that Yuna truly believed in.

"Even just humming a song. It doesn't take much, as long as it's what you're feeling."
whereishe: (Titls)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-11-27 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would like that. Maybe I could put on a concert?" She could hum a few notes but Yuna wanted music if she was going to sing. It was always more exciting with music playing behind her.

"What do you think?"
whereishe: (happy talking)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-11-28 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It's where a group performs for an audience. So I'll perform and hopefully there will be an audience!" She was always an optimist.
whereishe: (Beautiful Sky)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-11-30 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Her smile widened. "I'm glad. I'll let you know when the concert is going to be planned."
whereishe: (Wonderful)

[personal profile] whereishe 2020-12-08 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuna's grin widened. "Good. I'll see you then." Then maybe they can talk more about the music that Lauri-Ell might like.
