I. Stuck Outside
Aerith had never intended to be out this late. She'd been visiting with her flowers in her garden behind the hunting lodge in the southwestern borders of the Great Southern Forest. Time had gotten away from her and before she knew it the sun was setting. The cold was starting to set in and she knew that she probably should head back to the city itself. Not that she intended to just go back to her home, instead she meant to head to her shop back in the Market District. She had a large basket that she was gripping in one hand filled with flowers (that an observant person might notice weren't even in season) and her staff in the other hand. Everything seemed to go surprisingly well until the lights went out.
Not that she was scared. Or freaked out, or anything at all! She was perfectly fine. Fine and dandy. Well, at least she was until she felt the warm breath. Then she let out a scream as she jumped and gripped her staff even tighter.
"H-hello? If there's someone there you better show yourself!" Unless they were a ghost, in which case they could just stay away! She'd had more than enough of that thank you very much. She tapped her staff down and a little ball of light appeared around her. The thing flitted around bringing a bit of light as she continued to try to move forward without just running. (She really wanted to run.)
II. When the Mammets Attack
[ Today we meet Aerith shopping in the market. Of course, she's got a few flowers in her shopping basket just in case. However, she wasn't actually out today to sell her own flowers. No, today she was out to get some things for the holidays. Or at least that's what she'd hoped to do today. Alas, best laid planes and all of that!
It would seem that the universe wanted her to face mammets rather than accomplish any fun shopping. The first mammet she saw shouted at her: ]
Looking homely today, aren't you? Plain Jane coming through!
Hey! There's no need to be rude you little mechanical pest. [ Hey, if it was going to be rude, so was she! That's when it sent out an arrow that barely missed her ]
HEY! That was shockingly close. [ And as if to accentuate the word shocking, she moved her staff around and then sent out a spell that looked a lot like a a bolt of lightning. It struck down and the mammet sputtered before falling apart. That was one way to get rid of them right? Well, now that she knew these things were out there she was going to look around for anyone that might need help.
Find yourself being cornered? Maybe she can give you a hand

Once she was done with that she looked at the little things that were preparing another fire spell to toss back at them. ]
Hey! Stop that you little rascals! [ The fire spell went out and she just barely dodged it as it lobbed towards them. ]
You all need to cool down! [ With that statement she started charging up an ice spell to toss at them. It took a few seconds, in which the creatures had time to throw some gibes out, and then she shot the ice at them. ]

Aerith! Your timing and assistance are immensely appreciated, my friend! I had feared for a moment that I might have met my match in a rather annoying gaggle of little foes here.
[ He offered a hearty chuckle, adjusting his stance and dodging an oncoming flame now that they weren’t all focused upon him. He wasn’t keen to take another direct hit on his own from these things, not now that they knew his weakness. ]
Would you find a little teamwork to be agreeable in order to trounce them soundly?

I happen to be known for my amazing timing. [ She wasn't really, but it sounded funny to her. She laughed lightly, something that was almost more like a giggle, and them readied her staff again. ]
They do say that teamwork makes the dream work, right? Let's show these little guys whose in charge!

[ Yusuke would say that she was, if only because her timing was so on point that day! Maybe that was just the relief over being saved from the gang of little rude enemies talking, of course. He took up his sword, and assumed a more stable stance, preparing to rejoin the fray now that he wasn’t down for the count thanks to the flames thrown at him by the little fiends. ]
Indeed, and based upon our past performances, I would say we make an excellent team at that!
[ Darting sidelong, he avoided another shot of fire with an annoyed little frown and moved to better attack and avoid being in Aerith’s way. ]
They seem rather proud of themselves for figuring out the weak point in my defences. Foolish though, to not consider there are two to keep an eye on now!

Get ready to go down you dastardly little things!
[ Did that sound assertive and menacing enough? Like the little things wouldn't have any idea what hit them? She was doing her best to seem like she definitely knew exactly what she was doing and was more than capable of giving a helping hand. She immediately started channeling an offensive spell, the magical energy in the materia gathered around her as she sent off a lightning spell right at them as they tried to make their way towards Yusuke with his sword out. ]
Time for a jolting change of plans.
[ The commentary was needed 100% for the magic to work (definitely true, no exaggeration at all. ]

Well said indeed, Aerith!
[ Escaped with a lighthearted laugh, confidence renewed now that he wasn’t down the count. ]
My, I dare say that they’re quite stunned by your beautiful performance!
[ He added with a bright tone, dancing out of the way of the lightning spell long enough for it to strike before his steps carried him forward with quick grace and a flash of steel to strike at their enemies now that they were the ones stunned from the attack. ]
