[It's evening when the Tell Phones crackle to life, the sound of wind through trees evident over the transmission. Those more familiar may even note the sound of feathered wings beating before they come to rest. A voice, not near the microphone, speaks; genderless, humorless, but deep and quiet.]

This place seems promising.

[Another voice, closer to the microphone, an octave higher, but just as genderless and lacking emotion.]

Yes. These souls will do nicely.

[A third voice, the farthest of the three, speaks, soft, but no more human, though there's a sinister quality to it.]

Harvest them, we will, but only the worthy ones. Test them, we must.

[And then, in a chorus, they declare:]

We shall, we shall!
