As they had agreed to a celebratory dinner, Yin didn't just show up to wait for Lauri-Ell outside of the apartment complex, she even wore a fancier dress than usual. She wasn't sure what else to do, never having done this before. Her team was pretty low-key on everything. No celebration dinners, no, "Hey good job out there!" Just quiet knowledge they all got to live another day.

Lauri-Ell was introducing Yin to wonderful experiences, and Yin couldn't even smile for her friend.

As she stands there, waiting for Lauri-Ell, her lips quiver and the muscles aside her mouth attempt to move, but nothing happens. She'll be there waiting. When Lauri-Ell shows, she might even notice the light movements.

"Slow and careful," she agrees as they step outside. When she waves the carriage driver nods and Lauri guides them over to it so they can get in.

She's grateful for Lauri-Ell's presence. With her help, Yin finds herself up high.

Her hands glide over everything, curiously, as she uses her arms and hands to judge the space around her.

She finally asks, "Do the chocobo..." Yin's not sure how to word this. Dolls aren't capable of feeling one way or another about their lot in life, but Yin has come to understand she might like helping her team. "Do they like doing this?"

"I have not seen indications that they do not. I believe they are given ample apples and melons and something called 'gyshal greens'. This seems to make them happy."

Lauri-Ell is careful in her own seat, trying her best not to take up an excessive amount of space to make her friend uncomfortable.

"That is good," Yin surmises. If they are properly compensating, and they do not seem to mind, then she is okay with it. If anything, she likes their presence.

She can feel Lauri-Ell's presence seems small in the carriage. Yin, too, tries to keep herself limited and not in the way, but that is simply long-term practice and habit.

"They seem happy and okay in the snow too. I was surprised by that," she admits. "Their legs are not covered in feathers, so I thought they might be cold. But they still seem happy."

And that makes her happy, and she sounds like it too.

She hears the tone change in Lauri-Ell's voice. She ponders over it, associating the sound with something pleasant. Happiness. It's not something she's accustomed to, not just from herself, but from her teammates, as well.

"It is good they are not cold." If Yin is cold, she never mentions it, so she imagines the chocobo would not be able to express their discomfort. That sounds...sad. She does not want that for them.

There is a moment where Yin just stares, then she turns in Lauri-Ell's direction and asks, "Could we feed them?" She has never done that before.

"Yes, it is good. They also have pretty blankets on them, to keep them extra warm. Like my thick coat that I will get out when winter comes. It is nice to be warm then. I have bought some gloves lined with wool as well."

Then she tilts her head.

"We will need to get you some too. Warm things. I have a friend named Rhy, he knows how to make things. It will be very nice."

Though she leans forward to talk to the driver.

"When we reach the Lodge, may we pay you to give a treat to your birds?"

The driver looks back briefly and then nods and shrugs.

"Why not."

She really hadn't considered that. So much for being self-reliant. Having friends does seem to pay off, as Lauri-Ell has considered this.

"Does it get very cold here?"

Yin's eyes widen, a little more than usual, a little faster, she picks up her head and stares. "Thank you," she tells both the driver and Lauri-Ell. Hopefully, the chocobos will appreciate the treat.

There is a difference between self-reliance and accepting support. There was nothing wrong with accepting it when it was offered and you trusted the source.

"It can. I do not know if it is 'very' cold. Kree have higher tolerances than humans most times. I have higher than most. But I find it pleasant when it is cold. I get to wear pretty and warm things. There is this stuff called wool and it can be knit into things called sweaters. And they are pretty."

The driver nods at the thanks. That is fine with him, he expects the tip will be worth it.

"I like seeing animals," Lauri-Ell admits. "We keep less of them as pets in my world."

That is something Yin is learning, and will still need to understand. She will get there. After all, here she doesn't have to worry about being a burden to her team. And she's learning friends don't typically see each other burdens.

Yin seems to sit straighter when Lauri-Ell says pretty.

"If you wear a sweater, could I use my specter to see?" Yin asks. She wouldn't have thought to ask before, she would have just spied and done it, assuming she gained the curiosity to look in the first place.

"Are there many other animals here?"

Ah, Yin's special form of seeing the world. Lauri-Ell beams fondly, even though Yin will not see it.

"I would be very happy to allow it. I like when my style is appreciated. And you should get to see just how they look before you decide if you wish to acquire some."

She takes a moment to consider, tilting her head as she thinks. And then nods to herself.

"I shall wear a sweater two afternoons from now. I do not work that day, so I shall not have to worry about it. So you may seek to see it any time on that day after, let us say, mid morning. That would be suitable. I will have been and gone from the greenhouse by then and be in one. It will be a lovely shade of green."

It isn't her style to plan out that far for clothing, but for Yin of course she will.

"Yes, many animals in the city, and plenty owned by people. The Maresh-Watts family has three rabbits and a dog that finds thing by scent. The Scientias have two cats. I am certain others have pets too, but they are some of my closer friends."

She can't see Lauri-Ell's expression, but she's pretty sure she can hear happiness in Lauri-Ell's voice. That means she is okay with the suggestion, which match her words, Yin notes.

Yin notes everything Lauri-Ell says, and nods her head.

"I will look at that time. Mid morning, two afternoons from now." She isn't sure she will get a sweater for herself, but if it's a thing people do, maybe she should? She's trying to learn to be more like others, after all.

"Cats...." Yin repeats the word, voice hollow. "Where do they find these pets?"

Why should one learn to be like others when they can be more happy as themselves?

"I do not know," Lauri-Ell admits. "I believe the Flerkin all left, so not from there. The Maresh-Watts two, they bought the rabbits from a breeder here. The dog, Pretzel, that is a mystery to me. Perhaps they asked Ramon for help finding it. He is very cunning."

Yin is still learning, and learning from others is the easiest way, for now. She'll understand herself as time goes on, and learn better what she prefers.

For now, she knows she seems more fond of cats, and she has the people she likes knowing and talking to. Lauri-Ell being one of them.

"Yes. The Flerkin is gone," Yin says that, and her tone is the usual even, subdued sound it always is, but it might sound a note sad, if one pays attention. "You can buy pets, then." Maybe she can find a cat breeder.

"I suppose one can. Perhaps I should consider it. It can be lonely at times. But the hours I work may mean I am not suitable to care for a pet."

Surely they would like company rather than being left in an apartment all day.

"I should find work," Yin surmises. It would mean she might not have time for a pet, but maybe that would help with the reason she wants one - for a Doll, she feels kind of lonely, subdued as the emotion is. If she's working, maybe she won't feel that.

Ah yes, work. That can be something very important.

"What skills do you have which you believe may be useful in a workplace?"

This was something Lauri-Ell had to learn. She hadn't wanted to be a warrior, so she had tried to find a way to make her skill with her arms more useful.

"I do not possess many skills." Beyond spying. "I have experience selling items." And even that was a cover job for her team, and not a real job.

Yin might also need to do some of that learning.

That is something to consider. Lauri-Ell thinks about it, stroking her chin.

"Are you, by any chance, familiar with weapons?"

"No. Contractors deal with weapons. Dolls do not," Yin admits.

"Is that because you were told you may not, or because you do not wish to?"

Because those are different and important things.

"Because I am programmed not to," Yin answers, slightly confused.

"They are not something I wish to use, either." Which might be more along the lines of what Lauri-Ell intended with her question. She is suited best for intel and recon, not so much battle, as far as her personality goes.

That is quite fair. Lauri was specifically programmed to be a combat person, so she supposes she understands being programmed not to do a thing.

"We can be more than that which we were created for I think."

Yin's eyes widen to that, Lauri-Ell's words, yet again, resonating within her.

She can be more than Doll. Be more than a spy.

"I can be more."

Yes. Yes she very much can. Lauri-Ell smiles.

"You can. You will be. You will be whatever you wish, and that is okay and good. If you want help, I am always here."

"Whatever I wish," Yin repeats, as though those words sound so foreign and unreal to her.

"I...." She knows something she does want.

"Is there a piano in this place?"

A piano? Lauri-Ell really has to think about it.

"I fear I do not know what that is."

"It is a black item with white keys that plays music," Yin explains, not sure how else to really detail a piano.

"I do not know that I have seen one. I am not as familiar with music as others are. Or the things that go with it. Like dancing."

She'd been learning those things, but it's slower than other things.

"I will keep asking," Yin assures Lauri-Ell. Eventually she will either find one, or find someone who has seen one.

That is good to hear. If she keeps asking she will surely find her answer.

"If there is ever any way I can help, please let me know."

Meanwhile the carriage finally came to a stop. Lauri-Ell got out first and extended a hand to Yin.

"Allow me to help you down. Then we will pet the chocobo for a minute or two and head in to eat."

Yin nods her head, to all of it.

She takes Lauri-Ell's hand to get down, and maybe she can't smile, but she is pleased to pet the chocobo. It was a wonderful night, and not one Yin will forget.
