Logs for October
Who; Caelan and you!
What; Phone troubles, pillow forts, discussions on the weird goings on, and a seal in the tub
Where; Red building, and the docks.
When; End of September / Early October
Warnings; Mentions of nudity (Not descriptive, shape changing just doesn’t work with clothes), references to alcohol abuse (marked in thread with Nida), references to suicide (marked in thread with Nida)
What Do You Mean It’s Not Water Proof?
Caelan was experiencing some very obvious levels of confusion and frustration as he wandered up from the docks post swim that evening. His hair was still dripping and damp as he walked, eyes glued to the tell-phone that was looking rather... Less functional than it was meant to be. He hadn’t even bothered to button his shirt all the way, after the damn thing slipped out of his pockets and into the water when he was getting himself dressed and presentable by human standards.
At first, he’d only been annoyed because he’d had to stop what he was doing to fish it out of the water. Now he was doubly annoyed because the screen wasn’t lighting up. It was like the damn thing didn’t have any life in it...
Weird and very inconvenient if he had anything to say on the matter.
Which he was... At length, muttering under his breath and his accent growing a touch stronger than usual as he forgot himself. “The bleedin’ hell kind of joke is this? Really? Give the man who spends copious amounts of time near the water something that up and dies just because it gets a little wet. Can’t handle your drink at all, can yah? You finicky little box of nonsense.”
Speaking of a drink, he had a feeling he was going to need one very soon. Between that weird energy pulse a while back, the nightmares and now this? He was willing to admit he might need several.
A Fortress Fit for a Princess
Caelan wasn’t asleep when a mist slipped under his doorway, he’d come to expect at least one interruption a night since a few prior when something exploded somewhere and released a shockwave of mysterious energy. It had upset a whole lot of people (him included, for all he said he wasn’t bothered). Holly had become the most frequent guest, especially when the nightmares had begun.
Tonight he was ready though, and hoping to get the kid to talk a little more rather than the sullen insistence that she was completely fine and whatever other absurd excuses she came up with for her visit that night. Because honestly, she wasn’t the only one having nightmares, and he was starting to worry more about what they actually might have meant.
Hard to tell though if there were any connections or similarities if you weren’t talking.
Thus, tonight he was more than prepared for the visit. The living room space in his apartment had been entirely disrupted, cushions and pillows moved to the floor along with some of the chairs from the dining area, the sheets from his room and the pillows for good measure. All because he’d gotten it in his head that he was going to try one of those ‘Pillow Fort’ things that Holly had mentioned once or twice in one of her super-fact-filled-rambles.
When Holly materialized into a solid form again, she would be greeted by the sight of a very large, very chaotic looking fortress of pillows and blankets. If she ate food, there would have been all manner of sweets and snacks. Unfortunately, as happy as he was to make sure she could feed safely, he wasn’t confident in grabbing a random person off the street for her to snack on.
Someone would be bound to ask questions if they saw him lugging an unconscious body up and down the stairs... right?
So... No snacks, only a structure that was only slightly stable, but magnificent to behold (in his personal opinion).
Splish-splash
If there were any human creation that Caelan favoured over any other (aside from motor cars, they were fun) it was most decidedly the bathtub. A place to soak and relax at the end of a long day? A place where you could safely just splash around or doze off for a little nap without worrying about a predator?
It was brilliant. A private bath was practically a requirement when he was staying somewhere on a job. It wasn’t a replacement for the ocean by any means though, it did little to quiet the call in the back of his mind. It was, however, the nicest substitute on days when the call wasn’t loud, and he couldn’t be fussed with sneaking down to the shore.
Even the Lighthouse he’d purchased had a nice one installed, despite the fact that the ocean was just down the cliff side.
So after he’d finished a day busking in the market he hadn’t taken long to run a nice hot bath, grabbed his pelt, and slipped into the water like the delighted seal he was. It wasn’t as though he didn’t have the time, he wasn’t expecting any company for a while yet. Usually his visitors tended to show up slightly later.
Wildcard!
Have something you want the seal boy for in particular? Throw it at me! Also, if anyone wants something specific in a starter they should let me know. I can totally write one. <3

"So you..live in a time like this?" It was hard to imagine that there were people that he would meet in his particular lifetime that had lived in a time like this. Talk about not being able to wrap his head around it.
But Caelan's words about not being good at technology got him to smile just a little. "There's always someone new to things like phones back where I'm from. And technology advances all of the time, so everyone has to have a new starting point somewhere." He thought back to Miss Honda and how he'd spent awhile tutoring her to get her to pass a test she'd gotten upset over failing. Grey eyes turned to the other and nodded. "Someone would be around to help you out, I'm sure of it."

Caelan walked along, tuning their path towards the city and giving the part of the harbour district with smithies some space on instinct. “It’s hard to say more about similarities though, not without more exploring I expect.”
It was still interesting to hear about other worlds and the way technology had advanced. He wasn’t sure he cared much for the phones, but if motor cars got better over the years he could certainly see that being fun. Still, he hummed a little at the idea that if he had ended up in a futuristic world that people would offer him help. “Well, if everyone where you’re from is as quick to offer help as you are, I believe it.”
no subject
"I guess we'll have to find out more about it." There was something of determination in his tone, but it would give him something to do other than to mope about not being home and missing his date that he'd had before he suddenly showed up.
Looking over at Caelan at the help comment, he smiled. "Where I'm from a lot of people are pretty friendly." If he could somehow meet Miss Honda, he'd definitely believe it was true.

Not always, but often enough... He just wasn’t going to ask, because that would get complicated. It also might’ve been a bit rude, after all. Caelan minded his manners, unless given a reason to not.
Oh, How interesting... He noticed the determination in the young man’s tone, and it was good to hear. Yuki would need it, being stuck in a world like this. “With an attitude like that we certainly will, Yuki.” He responded in a light, pleased tone. “With enough people trying to figure things out, some answers are bound to be revealed.”
He hummed a little, “You’re world does sound rather nice then!” Caelan couldn’t help but be a little more curious now. Between the determination and talk of Yuki’s world? He couldn’t help it. “What was it you did in your world, before you arrived here?”
no subject
When the other mentioned that his world sounded nice, it hadn't always been that way for him. But he wasn't going to go that particular route here. So the question made him smile a little. "I was a student but that doesn't seem like that's an option here unless we find something else out." He kept walking with his companion, hoping they'd get to their destination and then he could take a look around. And all the while, he had the sinking feeling that he might be out of luck.
no subject
Of course, there were also people he’d gotten rather attached to. People he’d started feeling responsible for, that he would rather see go home before he left so he wouldn’t have to worry about them.
Soft, he was going soft here. Actually, he had always been soft... He just hadn’t expected to end up taking to people here as he had.
“A student, huh...? So that’s why you were looking for schools? You want to keep learning, then.” Huh... Yeah, the selkie supposed that made sense. Not that he knew much of Yuki’s life back home, but it did connect a few dots.
Their stroll would eventually lead them towards the part of the city that the Gullwings had positioned itself when Yuna got the funding for it. A very nice space, furnished stylishly in his opinion. Meant for comfort and professionalism. Caelan actually had his own desk, though he rarely used it aside from when he needed to stash extra blank sheets of sheet music to compose when he was bored and felt like being a pest to his fellow members.
no subject
But once the other asked about schooling, he nodded. "I'm probably not going to find what I'm looking for, but..I guess I really don't know for sure unless I go look for it first."
Coming up on the Gullwings office, Yuki couldn't help but look around once they got inside. It had furniture and books here, the first he'd seen since arriving so that was encouraging at least. It seemed quaint and quiet, which were definitely pluses in a quiet kid's book. "Wow..this place almost looks modern."
Like the apartments.

Really, he was fond of what Yuna had done with the place. It suited his tastes, and it made for a comfortable space to work and harass his colleagues on a day where there wasn’t quite enough going on to keep his hands busy. “Yuna, our lovely leader, has really built something nice here. We don’t have many people working with us yet, but it’s really come together. I dunno if Jagger is around, but he’s in charge of the office itself. Keeping it all organized and filing things.” He tilted his head for a moment before he added, “Basically the boring stuff. Saves us a lot of time though.”
Caelan was only fond of sorting and organizing if he was trying to put a heist together, which there hadn’t been a call for since he arrived in this world. It was almost disappointing in a way, but at the same time that was because usually he only stole things that needed stealing. Things that had been taken from someone to begin with, that needed to be returned.

It was quiet and an office, and he wondered if he had to fill out an application or something because Yuki knew he needed to find work. Food wasn't going to put itself on the table though he'd run into a hunter who'd very unexpectedly offered to help. And when he could tear his gaze away from the glass, he kept looking around. It was the nicest place he'd been in yet which was amazing.

“I didn’t actually expect to join her though, but I was bored and she seemed agreeable to having someone who was used to snooping around cities to help out with exploring. I’m not much interested in the forest, you see. Not my... natural habitat.” He grinned, chuckling to himself over the small, throwaway joke. “So when she offered me the position, I took it. Gives me an excuse to root out any secrets about this place, and I don’t mind helping out if it means the other kidnapees are safer too while we’re here.” Most of his work was exploring, mapping, and helping with lower-level issues. He wasn’t much of a warrior like most of the other people who’d arrived, more the stabby and hide in the shadows type. Plus, most of his abilities were ocean related.
He closed the drawer and moved back over to where Yuki was exploring, tilting his head rather curiously as the lad wandered a bit. “It’s not a bad gig, though I think Jagger might prefer I mess with the filing and the noise level a little less.” His tone, of course, implied that he’d do nothing of the sort. Being a pest was one of the many ways he showed he cared. “Here you go, one map! And like I said, I can let you know when it gets updates.”
Humming a little, an old sea tune coming to mind, he glanced at the space again. “That said, you seem rather keen on the place. You want to have a better look around?” Did Caelan sense a possible new hire for the actual ‘office work’ part of the office? Perhaps... If so, he’d have to let the others know and see what they thought.
no subject
So it was helping out the others who'd been kidnapped here, that much he got. And searching for a school if one was to be found, well that might help update their map so that would help too. And then he was handed a map which was easily enough deciphered. Caelan seemed to remind him of Shigure a little, but he couldn't quite sure how that was except for the tone about the noise level. The Dog could definitely turn the quietest place upside down, especially if his own brother was there. The sense of someone being fun echoed Shigure too. Interesting.
"Thank you." Yuki said with a nod after receiving the map. He was figuring he should get going and leave Caelan alone because the man had helped him more than enough. So he stopped short when the other offered to have him look around more and the gray head bowed. "I would love to, but I've already taken up a lot of your time." Taking advantage of people and their generosity, even if it was only their time, wasn't his thing at all.
no subject
“Come on, I can tell you’re interested. I’m very observational,” He raised his brows playfully and tilted his head at the space beyond the general lobby. “We’ll just take a little peek around, it’s not like we’ve got anything particularly pressing going on right now.” Not strictly true, there was the situation with the graveyard, but that was complicated and largely Yuna’s territory. He was offering assistance where he could, but it was a little outside his expertise.
no subject
With a small sigh the grey head finally nodded. "Alright and thank you." He really just didn't want to overstay his welcome here or be inadvertently rude. So he rolled the map back up and looked at Caelan, refraining from asking who he would need to speak to and what he could do here to help.
"Ready when you are."
no subject
Glad that Yuki had at least agreed, he grinned. “Grand, come along then.” He gestured with a little flourish as he lead Yuki further in to give him a proper tour. Showing off the main work area. “Now this is where Jagger usually sits, as you can see. Lots of files, lots of pens and neat little things like that.” Sorry, Jagger, wherever you are now. He knows there’s more interesting things than that, it’s just that he really hasn’t enough interest to care about a lot of finer aspects to office management. “Over here is my desk, as you can see, less office bits. More room for working on maps and the like, or sheet music if I’m feeling inspired.”
Moving along, he pointed to a small sofa (there were many comfortable chairs though) “I usually grab a ‘catnap’ here through the day if there’s time. Or I serenade whoever’s working!” He added with a grin, and the noise making comment earlier probably made a little more sense.
no subject
Following Caelan around, the grey eyes looked everywhere. And he swore he'd never seen so many pens in one place when Jagger's desk was pointed out. They then moved onto the next desk which was Caelan's. But he stopped. "Wait..you said sheet music? What do you play?" While he himself really had no aptitude for music, it was still fascinating to hear about someone else having one.
Curiouser and curiouser.
He continued to trail the other and looked at the sofa. Catnap brought the cat to mind of course, but they were on something of better terms than they used to be so there was no scowl or disgusted look now as there might've been once upon a time. This was a truly beautiful place. But he looked back at Jagger's desk from where he stood. "What office work gets done?"
no subject
He shrugged lightly, “I did get my hands on a violin recently though, which is my favourite instrument if I had to pick. If I’m not here during the day, I’m usually at the market busking if you ever wanted to hear.” He sounds just a touch prideful there, but he did have the talent to back it up. He’d had an excellent teacher, and more than enough years under his belt to become rather masterful.
He hummed a little, following Yuki’s gaze to Jaggers desk. “We collect information here, filing it away for future use and sorting through reports or requests that come in. Everything gets logged and written down somewhere.” He gestured to the large cabinets that Jagger kept organized. “I believe he categorizes everything, I helped him label folders back when we first started, but I’m thinking it’s expanded since then.” Honestly, Caelan wasn’t sure how Jagger had the patience to stay ahead of it all.
no subject
After listening to the filing system, his eyes continued to look over at Jagger's desk for a moment before returning his gaze to the man. "Are there a lot of reports that come in or need filing?" If there weren't there might not be much call for him to ask to apply for a job. And really all he had was some high school experience and student council, which he hoped might be enough.
no subject
As for their office... “Yeah, there’s so much about this place that’s still unknown? So whenever there’s something new, or something that someone’s stumbled on, we catalogue it here. Plus Yuna offered our services to the city guard, we’ve even got a representative from there as our go-between. That energy pulse a while back, and everything that followed, has definitely increased the flow.” He glanced at Jagger’s desk himself with a small frown. He wasn’t sure how the man kept up with it.
no subject
The grey head moved to the side as he listened. Grey eyes turned towards the stair case, wondering what was up there. But try as he might, he couldn't picture Miss Yuna at all. And somehow he was surprised to hear that this lady had offered their services to the City Guard. That got him thinking though. If anyone might have information on how to get home, this might be the way to do it.
However.
Turning to look at Caelan, he shook his head. "I don't suppose you guys are looking for more help?"
And did managing different personalities as Student Council president count for experience at all?
no subject
The question brings a bright smile to his face, finally. Yuki was asking what he had suspected was on the lad’s mind since they started looking around. Caelan doesn’t waste much time in answering. After all, the group was still small and he didn’t doubt Jagger could use a hand. “Always looking for more help, and if you’re keen to help out around the office, I’m sure they’d appreciate it.” It’s not all about adventuring, people had to hold down the fort and keep information organized. “If you’re interested, I would suggest having a word with our leader, Yuna. I’ll definitely put a good word in for you myself if you do.”
He honestly didn’t doubt that Yuna would say yes, she struck him as a more the merrier sort. As long as they were all like-minded enough and wanted to help, why not?
no subject
"That would be great." And even if Yuki normally spoke in a soft tone, there still was appreciation and thankfulness in his voice. And then he made a mental note to talk to Yuna, though he would just have to try and come back in the morning he supposed. No one seemed to be around them right now and that was just as well considering what time of evening it probably was. Idly he wondered if clocks were a thing, but he was more than sure they had to be, right?
But the last part just floored him about putting in a good word. "You would?" This was because in his mind he hadn't done anything to merit such a thing as a good word.
no subject
Yuki’s surprise is met with a small arch of his brow and a grin. “Yeah? Of course, lad. Why wouldn’t I?” He shrugged lightly. Because honestly, he had gotten the sense that Yuki was a decent sort, and he definitely had displayed an interest in the office aspect of the Gullwings. “You’ve already proven a desire to be helpful, what with your advice on my tell-phone problem. You value learning, what with your interest in finding a school to continue your education. You also displayed a certain level of interest for this place.” He paused, perhaps to seem a touch dramatic. “... I also have a good sense for these things, I think you’ll be a good fit.”
Whether that was true or not was hard to say, but he had run a very successful organization back in his own world. He had build an excellent team there... It was just that sometimes his judgement could get a little clouded under certain circumstances.
no subject
"Well..thank you." Yuki said, feeling a slight blush on his face. He was just a curious sort of person at times and always tried to get a sense of where he was and what he was dealing with. But it was nice that someone thought to make a compliment out of it.
"I really hope I can help out." he smiled. And make a difference to help the people that were here against their will. He hoped he could unlock the secrets in helping people to go home.
no subject
“Well, once you have a word with our fearless leader, you’ll undoubtedly have the chance.” He gestured lightly, before finally pulling out his key to the office, “We should probably get going in the meantime though, it’s getting late and I’ve been under the impression that some people do like to sleep at this hour.” He added with a little raised brow, presuming that Yuki would probably appreciate getting back to his own evening. Caelan was too much of a night owl to care about his own sleep schedule, but enough people had been reminding him of theirs.
no subject
There was a shy sort of laugh when Caelan brought up Yuna as the fearless leader. She was an unknown component in this whole thing. "I hope I can make a good impression on her.. Which was true. But then it was time to go and he nodded, not wanting to overstay his welcome because that wasn't who he was at all.
He did a slight bow at the door holding his map. "Thank you for your time this evening. It was nice to meet you."
