Back in November, Ignis petitioned Halcyn for a Winter Festival. He requested snow, lots of lights, and an in ground hot tub or two or more.

Train/moogles/horses - There's also a small train to go ride around the city, and horses will again appear for sleigh rides. Moogles will be appearing/on hand to give directions to where things are if people get lost. They are also serving as sources of information in case someone doesn't know anything about a festival or activity. Just ask the moogle kupo!

Food/shopping - Ignis also learned of and requested that European style christmas markets (including Japanese ones) so all of the foods for those countries and all of the things/traditions that they are associated with will be available. Whatever country has what, feel free to learn about it, or whatever different world. Recipe books will be available for whatever place too so pick one up while you can because you might want to learn to cook it for yourself! (Sorry folks, Remy not included) Enjoy all the shopping and fooding even if you've never heard of that place, world or food before. So eat, drink and be merry!

Activities/things to do - Skiing, sledding, skating and tobogganing will be available and if you're really tough, maybe archery hunting in skis may appeal. Riding on a ski lift can be a relaxing thing to do as well. Snowboarding is available as well, but a few words of caution on that. There may be sledding moogles as you go, lots of trees to run into, balloons, and if you hit an igloo, there may be an angry moogle that throws a table at you. There are also snow chocobos and snow moogles along that path.

For those not so daring to go snowboarding, the snow moogles and snow chocobos will be around town in different spots so that they're not missed. And while they won't throw snowballs at you, your friends just might! And you can ride a horse to go see a model of a royal library. A word of caution however, as there may be monsters even if they're mostly slimecicles. There may be some Luminous Lamplings or Bongo Fandangos lurking about too.


Other activities/happenings - There will also be events and things for the Chinese New Year, such as lion dances, all sorts of traditional foods, decorations, fire works, firecrackers and kids might get red envelopes. Since it is now the Year of the Rabbit, adorable rabbit decorations of all sorts are everywhere. On the last day of this Winter event will be the Lantern Festival.

Something else to note - If you're feeling adventurous there's a place or two to get married! The Hunting Lodge is always open so you could married there too! Take a walk through some Christmas illuminations for romance, or just because they're pretty.

Other notes - People from home will appear this week too as it's a fourth wall event, so be on the lookout for them! And if all of this stuff doesn't work, feel free to choose your own wintry adventure!

I. Recipies On Display

There were many things that Lauri-Ell was still learning in her time here, things that had been lost in the shuffle of learning to care for plants, becoming a blacksmith, and of course learning how to properly write the human language.

Cooking had been one of those things she had been awed with and had yet to try her hand at. Knowledge that she felt was important to possess. So perhaps it was no surprise for one to find her at a small stand, flipping through the pages of one such book.

"It seems so simple, written out like this," she said to herself as she considered a recipe for something called a 'meat loaf'. "I thought only bread came in loafs though."

II. Lanterns

This whole festival has been a marvel of things that Lauri-Ell was not familiar with, one she had been happy to learn. And here she now was, on the final day, watching as people started preparing what seemed like a wealth of paper structures.

"What are these?" she found herself asking a nearby person. "And why are they making so many?"

It hadn't been easy to get him to change his clothes but when he saw that it was proper tradition, Hendrik acquiesced to it. He too had been wondering what everything was about and had been informed so there he was.

Hearing a voice, he looked up. "I have been told that it is called a Lantern Festival. But as to the amount, that I can not say."

A Lantern Festival was it? They were lanterns?

"So they are lights then? Do we take them home? That seems strange," she says with a frown. "I don't know where to put it.

The knight nodded. "I am told that they are created and then somehow lit without turning it into its own small bonfire." He paused a moment, then continued. "And I overheard something about setting them over the water."

How is that possible? That's shocking. In fact, more than shocking.

"That might well be beautiful. It would look like space, but echoed in the water."

Hendrik gave her a confused look when she mentioned space, but she had to be talking about space as in between objects even if the wording was odd.

"I confess that I am eager to see this, with all of the lanterns floating up to the heavens."

The knight wondered if they were meant as prayers or something but he hadn't asked.

"Sounds as if it might well make me come to miss the stars from all of this," Lauri-Ell said wit a smile.

The knight smiled. "I do believe it will only be for one night, so it will be a temporary situation at best."

Still.

"It sounds as if you are fond of seeing the stars."

"I miss them," she answered. "To have them only above me, and only for part of the day, feels wrong."

Recipes

Terra was looking at some books on meditation, thinking he should probably do more of that. So he found himself at the book place and was looking through a few of the tomes there. Frowning, he reached out to grab one and started flipping through the pages, seeing if this was going to help or not.

But then he heard Lauri-Ell's voice after a few minutes and smiled for a moment before the words she'd said registered. "Meat comes in loaves?"

Lauri-Ell held out the book to him, to show off the picture of the recipe.

"So it seems. Loaf of meat. You bake it. This seems weird."

Terra turned the picture around so that it was upside down, but then he realized.

"So you just take meat and bake it."

Because that's exactly what it looked like to him.

"Yes, that does seem to be an accurate statement," she says, thoughtful. How does that even make sense? Can meat cook if baked?

"I shall have to investigate this more."

Lauri-Ell's question had him shake his head. "I thought you could only bake stuff like cakes." Like Aqua's Galactic Pound Cake that she made that he and Ven loved.

But he pondered as his eyes scanned the shelf. "Maybe some of these cookbooks will help figure that out."

"Yes, and bread," Lauri-Ell said, a bit confused. How did bread bake?

"I suppose they will. I think I shall take this one and try and figure out how to make this."

He really wanted to ask if he could see this in action. But she'd been kindness itself to show him about the forging so that wouldn't be fair of him to ask for anything else.

Still, he couldn't help but ask. "Can you let me know how it turns out?"

"I will," she says with a smile. If it is good then she will absolutely take pictures of it too. "I will need to share it if it is good. I can bring some to the forge."

Mitsuru was trying to look as inconspicuous as possible as she glanced through some of the recipes on display. Unfortunately it was difficult for Mitsuru to admit to an interest when she was concerned with how she may appear to others. Truthfully, she wasn't quite certain if she'd ever be particularly good at cooking, so she simply avoided trying things out for the most part.

That doesn't mean she wasn't mildly curious. Particularly when there seemed to be so many different things on display.

"Mm, I think that's part of the point. It's shaped to look something like a bread loaf and a loaf pan is used," she smiled. "I've always thought it was a rather strange sounding dish, honestly."

A loaf pan?

"There are pans that are just for bread? How intriguing."

She was learning something new already.

"That probably explains the shape."

"Yes, there are even machines made for the sole purpose of making bread." Not that she'd ever used one or would have any idea how to at all. "I think they're for cakes that are also shaped like loafs as well."

"Machines to make bread?"

Lauri-Ell wants one. Badly. Now. Because bread machines sound AMAZING. She could have fresh bread even if she doesn't know how to make it.

"I shall have to speak to Raimon."

"Yes, though I'm afraid I can't tell you the exact details of them. I've never used one, however I do know there are many different kinds. Some much larger than others." She felt a bit bad that she didn't have all the answers to something, but that was just the nature of Mitsuru's personality.

"If you are able to get one I would be interested in learning about it as well. If you wouldn't mind."

"I would love to share if I find one," she says with a grin. She's got to find the man as soon as possible. "Maybe I should look for a book for using this bread machine!"

"I hadn't thought of that but considering the wealth of information found, I'm certain you could find one. Or perhaps one would come with the machine themselves? Where I'm from things such as that often come with small instructional booklets." And Mitsuru was the type to always read them in detail.

"Instructional booklets would be useful. Because then I would not have as much issue."

Damn, she wants to find Raimon sooner rather than later.

"If it does, I shall read it thoroughly. I wish to learn more to care for myself."
