[ Llewellyn Watts-Maresh wasn’t entirely unused to the idea of his memories being shared with the world around him, but… He still not fond of the experience. Especially given there were now a lot of things that he’d rather not be seen, after his recent trip back to his own world.

Once the situation is brought to his attention, he will likely find his way home for the day for obvious reasons. ]

No, and it his wife had already told her parents about Jack and myself… [ So that had been an awkwardness on top of everything else. Jack was not a smart man, for all that Llewellyn refused to see that at times. He feels a bit awkward about the sympathy, really. ] It happens… I’m sure I’m not the only one.

That’s, unfortunately, due to the fact that no one even knew who he was. Clara never gave names and indicated that whomever she became pregnant by didn’t want the child before her murder. It’s part of why she married Jack, because she and her parents wanted to avoid scandal. [ Secrets always made things more complicated. It was terribly frustrating, if her parents had come forward with that information instead of hiding it they might have been able to expand their investigation… ] We didn’t have a name or indication that he might have gotten involved, and he looked enough like Jack that all sightings reported were said to be him. Plus, the murder weapon turned out to be one of Jack’s personal knives from his shop. He was a butcher, so…

I don’t know if we would have even found the man if he hadn’t found me first. He was very good at covering his tracks and hiding.

[ And that had been… a very not fun time. ]

That...couldn't have been pleasant. [ Given the times she could only imagine how badly someone's parents would react. ] I think most of us have had at least one. [ She gets the awkwardness, she always is when talking about her failures in relationships too. ]

Secrets that made more secrets. Not surprising. Funny how her attempts to avoid a scandal led to an even bigger scandal and much worse. Seems like that's always how it goes. [ Attempts to clean up a mess always just led to more of a mess. ] Ah, so the man framed him. Sounds like she was wrong about the man not wanting the child. [ Or maybe he was fucked enough that he only wanted the child after he'd found out what kind of person was raising his kid. ]

He found you?

I don’t know if it’s that he wanted the child so much as he took offense to the idea of someone like Jack raising the child. [ It was definitely that, given the rant that Llewellyn had been forced to listen to. ] Er… Yes, I had stopped to get something for lunch before heading back to the station house and he came up behind me.

[ The detective’s tone sounded a bit awkward. He hadn’t actually admitted this happened to people as of yet, nor had he really intended to. Sometimes he spoke before he thought. ] He got the jump on me, and when I woke up I was stuck listening to him in some kind of old shed. He thought I could tell him where Jack and his son had gone. Which I couldn’t, of course… Jack hadn’t even told me he planned to take the child and leave the city. And I wouldn’t have told the man even if I did.

[ Hurt and upset over everything as he was, that would only have put both Jack and the child in harm’s way. Llewellyn wasn’t about to do that… Even if it nearly led to his own murder. ]

[ Well that sounded bad. ] How did you get free?

[ Very bad. Super bad. Almost ended up murdered bad. ] I was lucky enough that due to my… stress over the situation with the case, my Inspector had been trying to keep tabs on me. When no one knew where I was, he went looking and found me just in time.

That is extremely lucky. [ Because it sounds like if he hadn't then something even worse would have happened to him. ] It sounds like your Inspector is a good friend.

Mm… He does tend to try to watch out for his people, more often than not. [ He tended to act like everyone’s father now and again, it was amusing and confusing depending on who was on the receiving end. ] Despite our occasional differences, I am grateful for his help that day.

I'm sorry you had to go through all that either way.

Thank you… I like to remind myself that I’m here, though, and try to not think about all of that much.

That's understandable. Can't say I don't do the same most of the time.

It seems easier that way, hm? Not having to think or talk about it makes it… less awkward and avoids the risk of worrying people, I think.

People have enough to worry about, particularly here. And making things less awkward is always a benefit.

My thoughts exactly. [ Seriously, he didn’t… like the idea of adding more on top of what was already there. This didn’t really make the not talking about it easy, though, considering the very people they didn’t want to see such things… Did. ] So it would be nice if these places would stop throwing our experiences out for everyone to see so we wouldn’t have to.

Or at least let us know why they do this.

It would be nice to at least know if there was a reason for why they’ve caused this to happen here… [ He sighed, shaking his head. ] Though might not like the answer, or at least would find it unsatisfying.

Probably another accident. Or maybe something brought in from someone else's world or memories?

An accident does seem to be the usual fair for those in charge around here… But uh- I admit the idea that they might want to bring something in from someone’s world or memories seems a bit troubling… considering some of the worlds people come from. Would something like that be… possible?

[ To create or pull something from another world through someone’s memories? That sounded complicated. But then again… Llewellyn wasn’t the most knowledgeable about magic, but it seemed like nearly anything was possible if it was involved. ]

I've heard of magic that could create constructs from memories, so I doubt it'd be out of the question.

Oof… [ He responded awkwardly, for once not liking when a magical possibility was partially confirmed. ] Mm… Can’t say I like the sound of that. Bad enough to have our privacy invaded. Worse if things that are dangerous might be pulled here because of it.

At least it seems like nothing dangerous like that bear has been brought through again.

Mm… Yes, that’s true. Hopefully, we don’t see something like that happening again. It sounded horrible.
