Memory Share Broadcasts
[ It was an odd day.
One Lord El-Melloi II had never addressed the network properly before. In fact, he only tended to even respond to people on it if it seemed necessary or the subject sparked his interest. He wasn’t a social creature, after all. So it’s quite strange for there to be a series of broadcasts, all showcasing particular moments in his life that he certainly would not have been open to sharing. Although some might have been... a bit confusing, considering they seemed to focus on a young man named 'Waver Velvet.' If it weren't coming from his phone, some might not have made the connection.
Needless to say, once he realized what had happened? He was going to have the fun of explaining that… Either on the network, or (if anyone is bold enough to show up on his doorstep) in person should they find him hiding in his workshop in the harbor district. ]
Memories:
(Note: All of these are written versions of scenes and vary in length, as finding decent clips is a nightmare)
Class Ridicule and the Theft of a Relic - Fate/ Zero memory - Conent Warnings: Public humiliation, Nobles in mage society are elitist assholes - Wordcount: 1650
The King's Request - Fate/ Zero memory - Content Warnings: Acceptance/resignation towards the possibility of death - Wordcount: 963
Finding Family - Fate/ Zero memory - Content Warnings: None, the Mackenzies are too wholesome. Glen MacKenzie took one look at this teenager who tricked them with magic and decided 'Well, he's our grandson for real now.' - Wordcount: 805
Becoming Lord El-Melloi II - Casefiles Memory - Content Warning: Abduction, guilt, someone taking advantage of said guilt - Wordcount: 1887
A Collision and Absurd Nicknames - Casefiles Memory - Content Warnings: None, just Flat being ridiculous and getting on Waver’s last nerve - Wordcount: 1024

Re: audio;
[ Disturbingly so there. It was something she definitely didn't miss about that place. ]
Do you? That's very sweet. I've never had family anything like that. [ And they seemed about as close to family as one could get. Good family at that. ]
Re: audio;
Ah… I’m sorry to hear that… [ He responded, tone a touch awkward. Rubbing the back of his neck, he wasn’t really good at this himself. ] Mine died a few years before that memory. So I suppose I’ve been lucky to find family in odd places, since then… The MacKenzies were the sweet ones, though. By all rights, when Glen figured out about my trickery, he should have sent me on my way, but he didn’t… [ It had been a jarring experience, considering his life at the clock tower. To go from humiliation and discouragement to kindness and acceptance. ] I’ll never figure out why their real grand children weren’t around.
no subject
I'm sorry for that. [ She ignores his offer of sympathy for the most part, moving on from it without much consideration. ] Most people don't react well to being tricked. [ She wouldn't. ] Looks like you found impressively understanding people. That is strange their own grandchildren weren't in the picture. Did they have many?
no subject
[ Likewise, Waver moved past the apology concerning his family and on to the actual topic of the Mackenzies. ]
They certainly don’t, generally… I remember asking Glen if he was mad, when he revealed he’d figured things out… He said he was, but that apparently he thought I was more… gentle? than their real grandson and that he didn’t think I meant any harm. [ Made him wonder what his real grandson was like, considering he was pretty sure he’d been a teenager with a bad attitude and a chip on his shoulder. Then again, whenever Glen or Martha had asked something of him, he’d never been able to bring himself to say no and indulged them instead. ] They were too nice.
I know they had a grandson for certain, but they hadn’t been in contact since their son moved his family to Australia early on. Glen seemed to indicate they had very little contact with them after that. I think he was worried his son resented him for staying in Japan and that it affected their grandson's opinion of them…
no subject
Did you at least have a good reason for why you did it? [ Maybe that had been what had helped him to get over being angry. ]
Resenting your parents for staying in one country while you move to another seems petty. [ There were a lot worse things a parent could do. ]
no subject
[ Waver wouldn’t say it was necessarily a good reason so much as a practical solution to a problem… But Glen had seemed to let it go so very easily. ] I didn’t really have much in the way of funds at the time, I’d already spent everything I had on my tuition and boarding at the Clock Tower and the loan my friend gave me for the plane ticket didn’t go much further than that… So at the time it just seemed like a practical solution to pretend to be their grandson.
[ If anything, Glen probably saw some teenager that didn’t have anyone and took pity on him and his weird giant friend that showed up. Missing the family that they’d lost connection to themselves, and getting the idea that Waver might need someone in return. ]
Those are my thoughts as well, but family seems to be an odd thing sometimes…? I certainly haven’t had a hard time keeping in touch with them over the years, even with the distance.
no subject
Well, that hadn't been the answer she'd expected to get from him. It was honest but also seemed a bit harsh. ] So to get money you pretended to be their grandson? That's even more surprising that they weren't angry.
[ He had a point. Family was an odd thing. ] True enough. Family is odd. But if you want to keep in contact with someone you can
no subject
Not for money, for a roof over my head. It was because of my lack of funds that I couldn’t afford to find a place to live during the couple weeks that the Grail War took to complete. They had a spare room they had set up for their actual grandson who never visited, so that was the reason to pretended to be him.
[ Although he somehow got the feeling they would have forgiven even being used for money if that had been the case, they were too nice. ]
That’s how I saw it, It’s not hard to keep in contact in the modern age between phone’s and computers, its not like one has to wait for letters to arrive anymore.
no subject
[ If they actually were that nice, then she just hoped they didn't get taken advantage of at some point. People like that always did in her world. ]
Even most undead vampires can use technology to keep up to date. Says a lot that their kids weren't willing.
no subject
They very well could have if I’d been smart enough to ask, even if I couldn’t tell them why I was there… And it would’ve saved me a lot of awkwardness and complicated attempts at making the spell hold. [ There had been an incident with some stolen chickens pretty early on that made him have to redo everything. ] But I wasn’t really… accustomed to the idea of people giving something like that freely, without any reason other than to help someone by that point. I’d been at the tower long enough to adopt that mindset, I suppose. Took me most of the Grail War to even realize what kind of people they were and that they genuinely liked having me and Iskandar around and that I’d gotten fond of them myself.
no subject
Iskandar?
no subject
Oh, ah… The man they referred to in the memory. They called him Alexei, but his real name was Iskandar. I couldn’t exactly tell them that I’d summoned the spirit of a long-dead king or about the grail war, he didn’t like staying in his invisible spirit form… So we had to make a cover identity for him and why he was staying with me.
no subject
He was actually the spirit of a long dead king? [ Sure. Of course. ] Sounds better than the type of summoning we have in my world. [ Hopefully.... because the summoning where she's from is always a recipe for disaster. ] Why didn't he like staying in his invisible form? Seems like that caused problems.
no subject
Yes, he was. [ Waver would argue there was much disaster, but more because of the war and those involved than the actual summoning. ] Honestly, you’d think he’d have considered that… It wasn’t like the man didn’t understand strategies. I believe it was because he found it boring and unbecoming of a king to hide in the shadows. He was loud, and stubborn and did what he wanted…
[ He caused so many problems… Between other competitors, and Waver’s cover. Not to mention some very absurd arguments between the two of them. ]
But he got along pretty well with the Mackenzies. He and Glen used to drink together at night before we went out…
no subject
So he had an ego? [ Could she actually blame the spirit of a long dead king for having an ego though? Depending on how impressive his reign had been, it'd probably be harder to not have an ego than to have one. ] He sounds more than a bit frustrating. Though I guess you lucked out that he got along well with them. Do you still talk to him as well as the Mackenzies?
no subject
He was 6’11” and I’m pretty sure his ego was still bigger than that. Damn oaf was incredibly frustrating sometimes... [ There is zero bite to his words, though. The gripe was more like a habit, with an underlying fondness in his tone. ] But it was lucky that he won them over so easily, considering he refused to stay out of sight.
[ The question gets a decent pause, his tone shifting slightly to something a bit pained compared to the tone he’d used before. ] No… We didn’t win the grail war, and he was struck down by the enemy. [ Waver only survived because the king who defeated Iskandar was moved by his loyalty to the man when he confronted him. ] So his spirit was sent back to the throne of heroes. I… only told the Mackenzies he 'went back to London' to spare them the truth. I think Glen had a vague idea. He realized what we were doing could cost our lives… But it seemed cruel to upset Martha. Glen told me that before we arrived that she didn’t smile much, and we had made her happy so… [ He lied. ]
no subject
[ As depressing as that may have seemed ]
6'11? I guess he might have had reason for an ego. At least you got some lucky breaks. [ She kind of wants to meet someone that's 6'11 and able to win people over like that. ]
I suppose a lie like that can't really be faulted. I'm sorry you lost your friend though. Is there no way you can find his spirit?
no subject
[ The question gets an uncertain hum. It’s a bit… complicated. ] There is a way... And I’ve spent the last ten years trying to prepare for the chance to summon him back again. The ritual is only able to be performed after a certain amount of years and it’s coming up in a few months, actually… Unfortunately, things had gotten a bit complicated before I arrived here, so I’m not sure what’s going to happen yet… But I do intend to try to see him again someday.
no subject
Ten years is a long time to prepare for a chance. I hope it works out.
no subject
[ The subject of Hephaestion was a bit of a puzzle for Waver, though, given he’d just met someone who claimed to be them… Waver should recognize them, having seen Iskandar’s army… But he didn’t. ]
Thank you, even if it doesn’t this time… Well, I’d keep trying to figure something out.
[ A slightly stubborn fool, perhaps, but he didn’t have it in him to give up. ]
no subject
I can understand that resolve. [ She had it in her own way as well. ]
no subject
[ Well, Waver was curious about that. ] Can you? A similar situation or…?
no subject
Not quite similar, but there is something I've been trying to figure out for a long time. I haven't had much success but I don't want to give up.
