Movie Night
Who; Illyana + OTA!
What; Come watch movies and eat unhealthy snacks! And maybe be affected by the little monsters that make it where you can't lie. It'll be a fun time.
Where; Moving Pictures Movie Theater
When; 10/15, slightly backdated
Warnings; None, will update if any are needed
It'd been a long time since Illyana had a movie night with anyone at all. Even longer since she'd had one with a group of people. In a different life she'd spent a lot quite a few nights with friends watching movies and throwing popcorn at one another. But that'd been then and this was now. And now she was weirdly excited about it. Not that she'd readily admit to it, but the lengths she went to in terms of preparation said enough. Children should get to have a childhood and childhoods were meant to be filled with movies and horrible snacks.
Which was exactly what this was.
Inside the theater she'd set up little stands manned by imps dressed in movie usher costumes. At their booths they're selling a variety of foods. There's a stand with popcorn mixed with various candies including M&M's, snowcaps, and probably some less tasty ones considering she let the imps pick out a few custom mixes. There's even a popcorn bag filled with nacho cheese to try out! There's a stand that has some nachos that also have various additions mixed. Basically the mixtures are whatever you could imagine, even if it's not something pleasant. The imps are doing their best though! There's also a few stands with sodas and with just candy to be picked up.
The first movie to be shown will be Gremlin a slightly altered (though barely) version of Gremlins. After that skies the limit! All the movies Illyana's picked out are horror movies of various kinds. There's a few that are about ghost sharks and one about Killer Klowns from Outer space. There's also one about a killer Leprechaun that's only real difference is it's a discount version of the original. Dollar store Leprechaun. There's a few in the j-horror haunting like the Grudge and a few featuring massive serial killers wearing weird masks.
Come have fun, feel free to make up your own movie to be shown! Or your own snacks! You're also obviously free to incorporate the event into this and have characters affected by the not being able to lie portion! Have fun!

He nodded. Jagger imagines many people have met others who will one day leave their mark on the world. "You know, there was a radio drama in the 1930s of War of the Worlds and it was so well-acted people believed it was actually happening."

His brows rose slightly at the description. “Really? Oof- That must have been quite something then, if everyone believed it.” The panic would have probably been more than a little chaotic. He could almost see George believing something like that and his reaction to it.

"And Buster Keaton, too. You know, Watts, you get around a lot. That man became sort of a legend of the silent film era. 'The Great Stone Face', they called him."
He chuckled, nodding. "It caused quite a stir, from what I've heard. People'll fall for anything"

People were unfortunately prone to it, and with the way entertainment advanced, perhaps it wasn’t all that surprising. “I can’t deny that’s true, some of the things people are convinced of in my time already make it easy to imagine… George would be pretty excited about it, I’d think.”

George. It was so strange to hear someone refer to people he's so cursurally familiar with only through their timeless writing by their first name as though they'd been out to tea with them. It was even possible Watts had, in fact joined Mr. Orwell for tea. It was mind-boggling. "You know, I'm not surprised to hear that. Science Fiction writers are always fascinated with the idea of thought control...and I guess all authors are for that matter. It's what it is, isn't it?"

Wrong George, Jagger. If Llewellyn realized he was thinking of Orwell instead of Crabtree, he would have corrected him. But since George’s writings spanned a few different genres, including a science fiction story he’d been working on, Llewellyn didn’t quite clue in. “You do make a good point, I suppose. It’s their intent to make people think about their works after all, and the subjects or views within them.”

Ah, the pitfalls of miscommunication. Amusing what can happen when two people are from such drastically different time periods. "Sometimes. Other times, they're written for entertainment and people read way too much into it."
