It'd been a long time since Illyana had a movie night with anyone at all. Even longer since she'd had one with a group of people. In a different life she'd spent a lot quite a few nights with friends watching movies and throwing popcorn at one another. But that'd been then and this was now. And now she was weirdly excited about it. Not that she'd readily admit to it, but the lengths she went to in terms of preparation said enough. Children should get to have a childhood and childhoods were meant to be filled with movies and horrible snacks.

Which was exactly what this was.

Inside the theater she'd set up little stands manned by imps dressed in movie usher costumes. At their booths they're selling a variety of foods. There's a stand with popcorn mixed with various candies including M&M's, snowcaps, and probably some less tasty ones considering she let the imps pick out a few custom mixes. There's even a popcorn bag filled with nacho cheese to try out! There's a stand that has some nachos that also have various additions mixed. Basically the mixtures are whatever you could imagine, even if it's not something pleasant. The imps are doing their best though! There's also a few stands with sodas and with just candy to be picked up.

The first movie to be shown will be Gremlin a slightly altered (though barely) version of Gremlins. After that skies the limit! All the movies Illyana's picked out are horror movies of various kinds. There's a few that are about ghost sharks and one about Killer Klowns from Outer space. There's also one about a killer Leprechaun that's only real difference is it's a discount version of the original. Dollar store Leprechaun. There's a few in the j-horror haunting like the Grudge and a few featuring massive serial killers wearing weird masks.

Come have fun, feel free to make up your own movie to be shown! Or your own snacks! You're also obviously free to incorporate the event into this and have characters affected by the not being able to lie portion! Have fun!

"If you really enjoyed it, then perhaps you could just ask them to make it again for you?” Though she had no idea who he might have been speaking of, but she couldn't imagine they'd turn him down. From what she'd seen of Shinjiro, individuals who enjoyed cooking gained a lot of that enjoyment from others enjoying what they made. "They do. There's a lot where I'm from. I don't think it's as common in other places in the world."

It was hard to not laugh at his reaction to the blunder. "He's only seventeen himself." Which was older than Mono, but still relatively young. Then again so was Mitsuru all things considered, but she hardly saw it that way. Good luck to the person that tried to point that out to her. "I think he'd be adverse to anyone helping him out." If anyone would be against a sensible plan, it would be him, particularly when it came to cleaning.

"I appreciate it. I have to admit I wasn't certain how you go about bringing the snacks in." Which she seemed a tiny bit embarrassing to admit. So many normal things that people should do seemed completely lost on her. Occasionally it hit more than others just how odd her upbringing had been. "Do you think I should bring anything else?" It felt so strange to be asking someone half her age for advice. Then again perhaps it was logical to ask a kid about candy.

"Then I hope you can stay here. I have to admit...I feel the same." Though for an entirely different reason than him. One that was a bit confusing even to her now. A lot of responsibility was waiting for her there and more sadness. Considerably more.

They did keep saying he could ask them for stuff like that, but it was a kind of weird when he’d never had anyone to ask things for before… But Mitsuru seemed pretty confident that it was a good idea to ask? So he tilted his head slightly. “I don’t wanna bug people, but if it’s a good idea to ask, then maybe I will?” At least while the food was still in season, right? He was pretty sure pumpkin was only popular at this time of year, based on the foods around during fall. “Is there a kind of ramen stuff you like best?” He had to ask, of course, since he didn’t know what kinds there were and if he was going to ask, then maybe he should know what the really good kinds were!

“Yeah? I wonder why not. Sometimes having help is really important. There’s a lot of stuff I couldn’t do without help, and I like helping people too.” The boy responded with a little frown. Maybe you just had to be sneaky about the help you gave, so the guy wouldn’t know you were really helping! Or the help had to be the right kinda help… Oh well, the boy couldn’t be sure unless the guy suddenly showed up here.

At least Mono didn’t seem confused by her not knowing how to bring stuff in to the movie. There was a lot of stuff he hadn’t known about this going in, after all! So instead of focusing on her not knowing, he could focus on sharing what he learned or coming up with ideas that would work for things that were harder to figure out, right? Which was why, when asked, he stood on his tiptoes a bit to lean over the table curiously. “Yeah! You only got a few sharks. You should have some other stuff to go with the movie, too. Like maybe more gummy candies, or the chocolate things!” He pointed to what looked kinda like M&M’s. He had discovered that he liked eating a bit of chocolate with the gummies at the same time.

He tilted his head, rather quiet for a moment as she admitted she felt the same about staying. “Maybe people’ll figure out how we can stay someday? Or maybe if we do a really good job with whatever it is they want us to do here, they’ll let the people who don’t wanna go home to stay?” He liked that idea, anyway. It sounded better for a lot of people he met, after all. Some people seemed to want to go home, while other people wanted to stay right here with people.

"There's never any harm from asking. More problems come from being too hesitant to ask questions than from the questions themselves." She often found herself wondering how differently things could have gone in various situations if she had simply asked more questions. "I doubt anyone will see it as you bugging them." She found it hard to believe anyone would see Mono as someone simply bothering them. To his question she a touch of a frown appeared and she shifted a bit uncomfortably. "I'm afraid I don't have too much experience with it myself. Shinjiro and our friend Akihiko went to a ramen shop quite often back home." And she...had never joined them.

"Ah, that's not a bad idea. I wonder how they taste together..." She was far too afraid to actually just try all on her own but she was oddly curious. If she was perhaps a little bit bolder when it came to trying new things she might have popped a shark and some candies in her mouth right there.

"We've hardly made a dent in figuring out how we even get brought here." There was a part of her that felt a bit terrible for being so utterly negative with him. He was juts a kid and kids were meant to hold onto their optimism. "I apologize. Both things are entirely possible. I wish we knew a bit more about what it was they truly wanted from it."

Well, she had said she wasn’t an adult before, but she also seemed pretty smart for someone who wasn’t one. So… Maybe he could take that advice! At least it sounded like it made sense to him. Though at her comment about not having much experience either, he tilted his head curiously. “Really? Maybe you should ask Shinjiro to make you some too! Then we’ll both know what it’s like, right?” That also sounded like a logical, smart idea. If Shinjiro liked to cook, then surely he’d like to do it for Mitsuru as much as him, right? Maybe more, since they were friends from the same world.

The boy could see she was curious about the idea, but clearly still a little nervous to try. So he grabbed some and another couple of gummies to eat himself, as though perhaps proving they weren’t bad was the best way to make her feel more confident about trying stuff. “They’re really good. It’s kinda like having fruit and chocolate together!” If fruit were gummy candy, which it really wasn’t, but the flavours were accurate.

“Nah, it’s okay. I know it’s hard to figure stuff out here. I’ve been here for a long time and I dunno if I heard of any adults actually knowing how it all works. Just guessing mostly.” And he definitely didn’t understand stuff at all… But the boy did perk up at the suggestion. “But yeah! It might be, and that just means everyone’s gotta keep trying, right?” A big maybe, perhaps, that they could stay… But it was the one he would be holding on to. At least as long as it seemed safe enough for everyone to have him around.

"Ah well, perhaps I could." If she said she didn't feel comfortable doing so then she'd discourage him. It was a rock and a hard place if she had ever heard of one. Still, she did feel quite awkward asking him for anything of that nature. Asking him to help her in battle? That was fine. Cooking ramen? That seemed far too awkward for her. Perhaps it was the entire implications of it, as something that she'd wanted to try but never had too much of an opportunity to. Or perhaps it was simply a result of her own strange awkwardness.

His idea was clever and actually succeeded in making her feel a bit more confident in grabbing some for herself and sticking them into the bag he'd given her. "Are they?" And now she was truly bold and put a handful into her mouth. She was cautious in her tasting, as if it were some fine dining experience and then nodded. "It is quite a strange flavor but not an entirely unpleasant one. Not quite as close to chocolate covered strawberries I've had but it has a similar flavor." With a lot more sugar. A lot more.

"Guesses seem to be all anyone can do here and it's quite frustrating." More than just quite frustrating. She wasn't overly fond of being left with nothing more than guesses. "Precisely. There's no reason to not continue to try if that is what someone wants to do."

If Mono could ask, then it only made sense that Mitsuru could ask! At least the boy would point that out if she said why she felt awkward for asking Shinjiro to cook Ramen. Because why would it be okay for him, and not her? It just wouldn’t be right for only one of them to be allowed to ask, and somehow explaining it to him in a way he would accept would be pretty hard… In other words, it would be an argument that would be hard won with a child.

“Yeah, it’s not the exact same as real fruit, but it’s really good!” He was quite proud of himself for convincing her to try. “And I don’t think I saw any real fruit since I got here, so it’s kinda like this is the special movie night version of fruit and chocolate!” Did that make sense? Probably not, but Mono thought it did! It was like the rules of movie night, unhealthy snacks like candy and lots of fun! “And there’s a lot of different fruit gummy flavours, so there’s a lot of combinations.” Said as he gathered a few other flavours of gummies to add to his collection. At some point, the sugar wasn’t going to quite cut it, and someone was going to find him curled up in a chair while the movies played, undoubtedly.

“Yeah, I guess it is. But I don’t know how to help with that stuff, so I just try to help with carrying letters and trying to help with the stuff I know how to do.” So he was going to leave that all to the adults that seemed smart enough to figure stuff like that out. Plus… Well, he had his own stuff to figure out. His abilities and what he might be able to do was his own thing to worry about and try to make sure he took care of before it became a problem.

She let out a tiny chuckle at his comment and nodded. "I suppose it is like the special movie night version." In an odd way. At the very least it was fun to do something so different like this. She picked up a few and put them into her own little bag. "There do seem to be quite a lot of flavors. Which flavor do you like t he most?" It seemed like an important question to ask all things considered. She took another small gummy, this time a yellow one, and put it in her mouth. Which just caused her lips to pucker up.

"This one is definitely...intense." That seemed like a kind way to put it. Intense and quite difficult to actually swallow. "Perhaps it would be less strong as a combination...."

[monochromatically]

Mono’s grin got as close to beaming as it ever did, considering its clumsy nature, but he was clearly pleased that Mitsuru had agreed with his description of the snacks. Her question gets a small pause, and he tapped his fingers together thoughtfully. “Hmm… I really like the lemon sharks, and the sour apple gummies… Oh! And the cherry gummies!” He fell silent again, before also gesturing at some of the strawberry twist sticks. “And those and…” Mono clearly liked most of them, and wasn’t sure how to say what ones he liked the most.

He considered the really sour lemon candies and nodded. “Yeah, the sweet chocolate candies might make em less sour when you eat them together?”

"It would seem you like most everything," she replied with a little chuckle. She supposed she could hardly blame him. Not only was he young but he was also inexperienced when it came to things like this. She could recall the first time she had tried movie theater snacks with an actual movie and how exciting it had been for her.

"Well, I'll give it a try," and in a bold step she actually threw a few pieces of chocolate and a lemon candy into her mouth. After she'd finished it completely she smiled. "That actually was much more pleasant that way. Quite good actually! I think I like it."

[monochromatically]

“I guess so, yeah!” He responded with a very childish, sheepish expression at the fact that he couldn’t narrow it down. “But it’s not my fault it’s all really good stuff!” And Mitsuru was right, Mono was young and he’d never experienced anything like this before. It was hard to not get swept up in it all.

He waited curiously to see what she thought of the combination, hoping he wasn’t wrong to have suggested it. “Do you? Great! Now you know another thing you can bring to the next movie.” The kid was clearly proud of himself again, for having thought of something that actually turned out to taste good. People liked different things, after all, so there was no guarantee that she would have liked it!
