[When the video initializes, those who've been around a while may well recognize the little green face on the screen. It's difficult to determine her expression, but her overly-cheerful voice when she speaks suggests she might be a bit...apprehensive.]

Good morning, everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the cooler weather! My, but it's been some time, hasn't it? I've heard one of you is looking to reopen the Academy! So industrious!

[It almost seems as though she's stalling.]

I've just returned from a journey and I would love to catch up with you all. I was...searching for something we've lost, but regrettably I did not find...it. I did not.

(OOC: The NPC will be responding as needed, but you're also welcome to thread among yourselves, even after you've gotten some information from her, and you will get information from her, if you ask the right questions :D)

I don’t believe we’ve had the chance to meet. I’m Lord El-Meloi II... Given your mentioning the Academy, would I be correct to guess that you’re the person who was in that other dimension with it?

[ Her overly cheerful tone was a bit unsettling. Usually that accompanied news someone didn’t want to share. ]

Then I presume when you say you were looking for something and didn’t find it, that you were looking for the void cryst… and that there’s potentially more than that to say given your prior tone?

It disappeared again…? And you had to flee... Did something attack you or was there more to the cryst disappearing that caused you to retreat?

You may be right about that! I suppose I suffer the same.

Well, I haven't taught in a few centuries...or was it only yesterday? No, certainly longer than that.

There were creatures in that dimension which, to the best of my understanding, fed upon emotion. They were attracted to me as soon as I arrived, which hindered the search efforts considerably.

It sounds rather uncertain. I’m guessing that time progressed differently between here and that other place. [ That sounds about right for other realities, after all. There were stories sometimes about people returning from the Reverse Side where he was from being rather oddly timed… ] Regardless of the length of time, some particular habits are hard to break, I think.

Ah, so between the cryst’s disappearance and those creatures, it made it difficult for you to successfully locate and bring it back. If you were the only one to be fed upon, you’d probably have been a beacon for them. [ He hummed, thinking about the creatures. ] Lucky for you that you were able to get away from them?

Is there the possibility of bringing a team more accustomed to combat with you next time?

It did, but that's often the case with interdimensional travel.

I'm not sure they're interested in...partaking of me in my current state. It would be wise to bring reinforcements when we return, yes, but that will take a degree of preparation on my part. It moves, this dimension, and the cryst has a habit of not wanting to be found.

When you put it like that… [ He thinks back on a conversation he had with Harry and has to ask. ] I don’t know much about the cryst beyond what’s been said… But if it keeps giving you the slip, and you say it has a habit of ‘not wanting’ to be found… Would it be wrong to guess it has some form of sentience?

[ Or… Some kind of artificial intelligence system born of magic, perhaps, not unlike some he’s come across. Something to make it try to preserve its own safety or stay out of people’s hands after what happened. ]

It does, though we were never able to ascertain precisely what level. It may be something as simple as desire, or something as complicated as having its own itinerary. Our headmaster was looking to get to the bottom of that mystery as well when things went sideways.

The headmaster, hm? Too bad they never worked out the specific before the incidents, still… It’s good to know that we weren’t wrong to consider the possibility. [ It gives him more to think about, knowing that it has some level of sentience. ] From what I’ve heard, there hasn’t been much found since that time either, and he doesn’t appear to be around to ask?

I’ve been working on digging around the records room at the Academy, though, if I happen on anything interesting mixed in that might have survived, I’ll share.

And what was it that you were searching for precisely if I may ask?

Of course! I was searching for the shard of the Voidcryst involved in the explosion that ruined the Academy.

I see.

[He paused]

I suppose the rest of us might have to start a search then if you deem it that important.

I deem that it may be important, and retrieving it may be easier than acquiring another. First, we would need to locate it.

Not as of yet, no, but I'll keep looking and I'll let you know when I've learned something.

Yes, it would seem the blast did much more damage than I initially thought and retrieving it is going to be...complicated.

Sounds like strong magics to deal with that. You talking that mirror world, or more further afield? Knew a guy once that was supposed to be able to walk between them more easily, but he's not here to help.

Far more afield than the mirror world, I can assure you. I'm...not quite certain where it is in the grand scheme of things, though. Far, far removed from this place, though.

And thus not in a place any of us can get to. I'm sorry we can't give you more assistance.
