[Never mind the baking ingredients in the background along with the mixing bowls. In the foreground are a bunch of books, piles of notepaper and pens since someone's been studying. But paws are seen and hands pick the puppy up and put him on the ground.]
You know you're not supposed to be on the table.
[He then straightens back up and notices that the camera on.]
I'm sorry, I didn't realize the puppy had turned the phone's video function on.
[Yuki pauses a moment.]
But since it's on I wanted to ask if anyone else studying at the Academy?

[There was genuine surprise in his tone with that question. Still he tried to keep a smile on his face.]
I'm not sure I could keep up with you or him.
[But Yuki was going to try.]

[Mostly because Nida is doing his best to not attack Yuki as well as he could. He feared using his sword seriously.]

[Even if he didn't trust that he would do well against either man.]

[There was a slight lowering of the head. Touched and honoured yes, but also figuring he was going to get his ass kicked was another thing.]

[Deep down he wished he could learn magic from sensei as well but figured that would be a no go. And it was for making sure he did all he could do to keep Jacob safe.]

Good to hear. Hopefully what you're learning there is safe.

[Yuki figured this was hands on training and going over precautions and learning things of that nature before they could wield any sort of magic.]

You had safety talks about magic too?
[Even if it made sense.]

I'm sure in time I'll get to that part.

When you start to learn spell working, talk to your instructors, see if they think it's okay to try in combat. If it is, we'll start adding it to our fights.

I will do that. But I'll definitely be a novice.

Did it take long for you to figure it all out?

Years, but in your defense, I was always rather shit at most forms of magic growing up. Even my mastery of wind and water spells only game with age and practice. I barely got through at all on magic scores.

Maybe I'll end up like that too. I'm sure I won't master a lot at first anyway, considering it wasn't something native to my world.
[Still not talking about ancient generational zodiac curses.]

Right, one step at a time.

Of course.
[Step by step he'd become a better fighter and a good mage so he could keep Jacob safe.]
Thank you.

Always, my beloved student.
