[ Mono was feeling more than a little anxious at the moment. He’d even slipped his bag on today because it just felt... more secure. No one can see that he’s scared, right? Because With all the talk of what was going on in the city right now... It was a bit scary.

Especially since he couldn’t find one of his favourite people. He had something important to tell Illyana, but she wasn’t anywhere to be found!

Forgive the constant hiss of static and the crackles. He can’t help that. ]

Um... Has anyone seen Illyana? I got something to tell her and I can’t find her anywhere.

[ Listen, even the child knows that maybe it’s not that weird considering she could teleport... But it’s been a few days, and... ]

And I know she could just be back in her Limbo place, but I think this is hers??

[ Why yes, after disappearing from the video feed for a moment, Mono returned holding Illyana’s soul sword. ]

It’s kinda weird that it’s not with her, right? I kinda stumbled on it? I dunno where it came from since she's not around.

[ So, yes, the kid is worried. As many know, Mono is quite attached to the woman and her imp companions. ]

I’m gonna keep looking, but if anyone knows where she is, can you tell me?

[ The feed cuts abruptly. Mono isn’t really good at these things. ]

[ Mono blinked behind his paperbag. Were… there no swords in Mitsuru’s world?

Well, the child supposed that could be true… So maybe it was best that he told her?]

It’s a sword. They’re sharp and you use them to cut and stab at things you don’t like.

[An excellent explanation, well done. ]

But this one’s like… A special sword, all magicky and stuff. It belongs to my friend Illyana, which is why it’s kinda weird that I can’t find her.

I'm aware of what a sword is. [ She looks completely deadpan at the camera. ] The magic part was what I was inquiring about. It just didn't look like your average sword.

I wasn’t sure if you had them in your world or not! Sometimes weird stuff like that happens.

[ And it had seemed kind of mean to not explain if that was the case. The child moved on, though, eyes darting to the sword again. ]

And it’s not regular, that’s for sure… I dunno how it works exactly, but it was really important to my friend. She’s super powerful, so… I don’t think I should have this.

[ Seriously, why didn’t Illyana have it? That seemed like the more important issue to Mono at the moment. ]

[ She disappears from the image for a moment and when she comes back she's holding a long thin rapier ] I fought with this back home. I've always been more partial to rapiers as opposed to broadswords.

[ Does she feel like had to prove something? Kind of. She didn't take feeling dumb well. ]

That is concerning. You should probably be careful with that if you don't quite understand it. [ From her own experience only bad things come from messing with things you don't fully understand. ] I take it it's uncommon for people to return to their worlds and leave things behind?

[ Well, Mono was certainly distracted by the arrival of this new sword. ]

Wow! That’s really neat. I didn’t know that’s what those kinds were called?

[ His expression dims somewhat, though. ]

Yeah, I just wanna keep it safe till I find her. It’s not the kinda thing I know how to use. I had a hammer back in my world.

[ Mono says ‘had,’ but it was more that he found hammers or other objects that were good for blunt-force damage and grabbed them to use. ]

Yeah, when people go home all their stuff that came with them disappears too… So I know she can’t have gone home, and I don’t think she’d have left it behind if she was going to her Limbo place either.

There are a number of different names for different types of swords. A rapier is best suited for thrusting attacks as opposed to slashing or the smashing of a hammer. [ Don't worry, even if someone doesn't ask they'll get an explanation for things! ]

Is there a reason you can think of she might have left it to you? Is she the type to do something without an explanation?

[ At least Mono was eager for explanations. There was so much the kid didn’t know! ]

I guess that kinda makes sense. Different kinds of swords for different kinds of fighting, right? I wonder what the other ones are called, never thought about asking people before.

[ So that was a thing he’d probably be doing in the future. The boy shook his head slightly at the question, though. ]

I dunno…? I guess since we’re friends, maybe she knew I’d take care of it till she gets back from wherever she is…? I watch and help teach her imps too, so maybe it’s like that?

… Except without the teaching.

[ It was debatable that he was teaching the imps anything either, since he was hardly capable of teaching them to be proper demons. ]

Um… She might, I guess. She did play a trick on me with snowmen, but that was just for fun. And I think she’d tell me if she was gonna go away for a while, right? Especially if she wanted me to take care of this.

I could let you know if you show me the swords you're curious about. Though, I'd encourage the use of one like mine. They're particularly elegant and I find them superior to most others. [ Because they were elegant and refined looking. ]

Excusez moi...did you say imps? [ Stop getting distracted Mitsuru. She makes a hmming sound as she thinks. ] She never gave you a warning she would entrust it to you? [ That was pretty unfortunate. ]

If this item is important to her, it would be probable to assume she'd tell the person she entrusted it to she was going to be away. I apologize, I wish I could be more help to you.

Okay! If I see one I don’t know about, I’ll show it to you, and you can tell me all about it!

[ Dear god was the child going to just go around finding swords and stuff? Probably… This wasn’t going to be a problem at all. At least he wasn’t particularly interested in using swords… So that was something.

Mono blinked, his little face scrunching a bit as he tried to figure out what she said.]

I dunno what those first words mean, but yeah, I said imps! There’s a whole bunch of them, and they follow her around. They’re kinda funny and bad at stuff, though.

[ The boy shook his head, though. He’d still be worried if she warned him… But at least he’d know where she was. ]

No, she never said she was going to do anything like that. I wish she had so I could know where she was… [ But he tilted his head at her apology. Why was she sorry? She didn’t make Illyana disappear. ] That’s okay, you’re not the only one who doesn’t know where she is. A few people said they haven’t seen her either… But thanks for telling me stuff!

[ It had been a good distraction from the whole worrying thing. ]

Alright. Remember to be cautious with them though, a sword is a weapon after all.

[ But sure, pick them up and ask about them. They let Ken use a spear while fighting through Tartarus after all. ]

The imps are funny and bad at things...? [ Right. Of course they were. That made sense. No, no, it really didn't. But she really had no idea how to react to what he was saying. All she could hope was that the imps here didn't look like any of the imps she'd seen before. ]

You make it sound like it's fairly common for her to be less than forthcoming. [ Mitsuru you can't judge anyone for not being forthcoming about things. ] I could offer to scan for her if you would like, though I'm afraid my skills there aren't as strong as others. I am sorry that others have said they haven't seen her either. That sounds troubling.

I’ll be really careful!

[ Or as careful as any ten-year-old could be with something they didn’t understand. ]

Yeah, once they went out and stole a bunch of random stuff from people that Illyana had to return! They thought they were doing good, but it wasn’t what she wanted them to do at all.

[ The child perked up, though, when Mitsuru offered to scan for his friend. What did that mean? ]

Scan for her? Like a special power thing like other people got? That would be really helpful, even if you don’t find her. It’s kinda like, um… being sure I didn’t miss anything when I was running around.

I'll expect nothing less then. [ She'll be disappointed if she finds out he's hurt himself somehow and nobody wants to disappoint her. ]

That sounds rather irritating. [ Hopefully that wasn't something she'd have to deal with herself. ]

Yes, it's an ability I have. Most of my abilities are more geared towards combat, but I should be able to give us some sort of knowledge.

People got pretty annoyed with them, but they got their stuff back after.

[ So, Mono didn’t really see the big problem with it, and he promised Nida and Ignis if they visited him that they wouldn’t take any stuff again. But, for now, the boy was far more interested in this ability that might help them find his friend. ]

That would be really great though! Do I gotta do anything to help, or is it just something you can do without extra stuff?

At least things were returned. [ That just sounded annoying. Was that the purpose of these creatures? To be annoying? ]

A bit of information about her would be helpful, but other than that I do all of the work.

Yeah, and they haven’t done it again… So maybe they learned? [ Mono tilted his head slightly, the static hissing again for a minute. ] Any kind of information, or only some kinds?

[ Mitsuru was always quick to go to focusing on whatever was 'business' and this was no exception. ] A general physical description of her and any sort of unique things about her you can think of.

Oh! Okay… [ He thinks about it for a moment. ] She’s got pretty yellow hair. [ Blond, Mono. ] And… She’s taller than me, but not as tall as other people.

[ Said quite seriously, Mono has never had to describe a person before and he’s doing his best. ]

Unique stuff? Um… She can make portals to go places, like her other place called Limbo!

I see. That should be good enough for me to do a basic scan. I'll let you know if I discover anything of note.

Really? [ That was enough? It didn’t seem like much, so her ability must be pretty special. ] That’s great, thank you Mitsuru!

[ She comes back about twenty minutes later. ] I'm afraid I've been unable to locate any traces of her. I ran a scan for a few others simply to test if it was perhaps an error on my end. [ She feels a bit bad relaying this information. ] I located them.

[ Mono waited by his tell-phone, spending some of the time talking to other people and trying to form a plan of action for his continued search. Still, the boy was feeling rather hopeful about what Mitsuru might find.

His hope deflated, though, as she returned with her findings.]

Oh… [ Where had Illyana gone?? Maybe she had gone to limbo, if the scan didn’t show her here?? But that still didn’t make sense when he had the sword. ] Thanks for looking, Mitsuru. I guess if you can’t find her when you can find other people, then that’s gotta be kinda bad…

[ What should he do now…? Keep looking, even when there was proof she wasn’t anywhere to be found in the city? The kid was starting to feel a little lost… ]

This place is small enough that I'm confident that my ability can handle such a simple search. [ If the place had been as large as Tartarus? Then she might have been able to offer him more comfort and reassurance that she might have just missed Illyana. It didn't seem right to try to offer this boy false comfort though. ] Is it possible she just returned to her place of origin?

Yeah… I was running outta places to look for her already. [ And this kind of confirmed that with a particular finality… The kid really didn’t know what to think now.

Still, Mono shook his head at the idea. ] No, when people go home, I guess all their stuff that came with them goes with them? So If she went home, I don’t think I’d have gotten her sword like this? It would go back with her.

I'm truly sorry. [ She's not sure what else to say, she's very bad at things like this. ]

I see. That leaves very few options to what may have happened to her.

Yeah… [ The kid responded, sounding quite dejected by the now dwindling options he had to find his friend. ] It’s not your fault, and you looked so you helped even if it didn’t work… I’m gonna go though, I wanna keep looking anyway. Thanks, Mitsuru.
