I. But What Is Going On? | Closed to Yuki
A meal had been promised, and today, delivered. Lauri-Ell was a bit later coming back to it than she had expected, and had often extended apologies to Yuki for this oversight. But tonight, no, she was going to do this right. She had previously agreed that tonight they would eat together, had picked out food, and now here she was, knocking at Yuki's door with bags of purchased food with her.

"Yuki Friend! I have come with nourishment!"


II. Galentine Gifts | Open to all Female Characters
After the long and thoughtful conversation with Yuki, Lauri-Ell gave herself the evening to think. This whole idea, the concept of showing love and affection to those you were involved with was a good one. People should not feel they are taken for granted. Yet, she wondered, what of those who did not have a partner? What of those women who were chasing a man like Chad in that show she had watched in her sister's apartment with the furbeast? What of herself?

It didn't seem fair. Not at all. in the morning Lauri had gone to work and when questioned as to why she was so mopey by Gili, there was more talking. And ultimately Lauri-Ell was set to work on her own projects for the day. She was let off early for her anxious energy, and immediately went to set her plan in motion.

It was a plan that ultimately resulted in her carrying a large wooden box over her shoulder, filled with little gift bags in pinks and reds and deep purples, each with a bow on them. Inside were small packets of chocolate and collections of candles and one of those cloth hearts from Mister Maresh's shop too.

And, any time she saw a familiar female face she called out.

"Hold! I have something for you."

It was weird to have anyone over that wasn't Jacob, but he had told Jacob about this dinner so that nothing funny would be thought of. He would be above board and honest in all of his dealings with the other man and this was no exception. So tonight he had set something of a table because he knew Lauri-Ell was coming with dinner.

Hearing the knock on the door and the lady's voice, he opened it. "Hi there, I've been expecting you. Come on in."

If it helped, Lauri-Ell would never seen a romantic association with young master Yuki. That wasn't, well, her sort of thing.

She smiled to see him.

"I come bearing the promised meal at last, my little friend! It is to be very good."

He stepped to the side and let her come through with the meal. It warmed his heart that she had followed through on a promise. And it was sweet that it meant so much to her to make up for something else.

Some people were just like that.

"I'm sure it is, but come inside and we'll get to eating."

Food was good.

"Fajitas," she said happily. It was exactly what she's said she was going to bring. This would need to go into the microwave. "I am told you should heat the 'tortilla' things too."

Those and the things that went to add on to the heated meat and vegetables were set on a table.

"Right." Yuki replied. But even if this was over his head, he could help move things, so that's what he did. "I can get that started for you. So they just warm up a little bit, right?"

That much he could do at least to try and help out.

"Yes," she smiles. "It is supposed to be covered by a cloth, to keep the moisture in I believe."

"Okay."

This was fun, helping to get dinner ready and on the table. It wasn't often that he would be able to say that someone thought so much to bring food over to cook for him.

Jacob was the exception of course.

Really, he deserved to be cooked for. That was what friends should do for friends.

"I shall pour our drinks. I acquired a thing called Horchata.

As Yuki was working on his own task, he looked over at Lauri-Ell questioningly. That was a word he'd never heard before.

"What's Horchata?"

"I do not know," she said brightly. She was looking forward to trying it with him. "If we do not like it, I have water too."

He had to smile. "I think I would classify that as trying something new."

Yuki himself tended to stick with what he knew as far as food and drinks went. But they did have a back up and that was important too.

"It is good to try new things," she said with a smile as she looks for glasses to pour the drinks into.

[areasontohope]

He set some glasses down for her and nodded towards them. "It is. I have to admit I'm not really one to do that too much, but it's a good idea to start."

"So many things, even after a year, are new to me."

She finishes splitting the drink between them, and then adds some water glasses as well before she moves to lift the food from being warmed. Without gloves on her hands. She might have a tolerance.

"True." Yuki agreed, thinking of Jacob. Sure he'd been hit on by guys back home, especially Hatsuharu. But he never gave it much thought and always just let it go over his head about how much he was flirted with or hit on.

Now they were dating and that was another thing entirely.

So he took a sip of the unfamiliar drink and pondered it, staring at the liquid in the glass. "It's not bad."

It Lauri put the food between them and started to build her own fajita. But with his comment she raised her horchata and took a sip. Oh that is nice.

"This is very tasty, I think I shall acquire more."

[areasontohope]

"It is good." Yuki replied, looking at the contents again before taking another sip. This was better than the stuff Jacob drank, maybe he should introduce him to it. There didn't seem to be an alcohol in it which he liked.

And Jacob had asked Yuki if he thought there was too much drinking.

"If I may ask, where did you get this? Did you make it?"

Lauri-Ell's tolerance for alcohol was far too high, so she rarely touched it. It was boring to her and did not quench her thirst as it should. So this was very good.

"In the market. one of the stalls was selling it."

She takes a bit of her fajita and makes a happy noise over it.

"Do you remember which one?" Yuki asked after taking another sip. Wow, this stuff was really great and he had no idea what it was even made from.

Didn't really matter either, but he started his fajita after watching Lauri-Ell's artistry of hers. So that really helped him figure out what he needed to do, never having one of these things before.

"It had many colorful flags on it," she said thoughtfully. "I fear the best thing I could do was guide you there myself."

Which could wait until later.

"I had a question for you. This festival that is forming. I do not understand it."

[areasontohope]

"Well whenever you have time is fine." Yuki replied with a smile before taking another sip. Wow, he really liked this stuff.

But he looked at his companion as she mentioned the festival and he was a bit confused. "You..don't understand the meaning?"

"That sounds good," Lauri-Ell smiled, and she had another bite of her food and another sip of the drink. "I want this often though."

His questioning her question earns a not.

"Yes, I do not understand this at all."

[areasontohope]

"Definitely." Yuki agreed. This stuff was sweet too, and definitely not bitter at all like the alcohol that Jacob drank. Maybe he could at least have this stuff on hand, moreso than perhaps the way tea or water or juice might be viewed.

However, he wasn't sure he understood the question enough but he tried to think of a way to explain it. "It's a..holiday like Valentine's Day back home, even if the customs seem to be a little different. Here they have the Cherishment to show love and affection towards a romantic partner and it seems to be okay for it to be mutual for gifts. But back home in March there's White Day where the men who get gifts from women on Valentine's Day reciprocate with gifts. So it's a little different back home."

This would go bad more quickly than water would, but it might not be bad to supplement his juices with it.

For now she listened to Yuki, frowning as he spoke.

"I don't understand this still. One should only show such affection in this month? That seems sad."

He had to smile a little as he brought his plate and drink to the table in order to sit down and enjoy the meal. "People just decided to make a big deal out of one day..or two back home. But you're right, it shouldn't be just one month. And I'm not sure why they chose it the way that they did."
