I. Gifts Given To Students - Closed to Yuki and Jacob (Separately Though)

There was nothing to make the world more alive than the rush of fighting. Training was the closest he could come, and for Nida there was at least his two students to help him. They came in on a schedule now that the workout room had been finished at the house, and he was happy to make time for them when he wasn't working for himself. Such a today, when he had a plan. He had Yuki and Jacob both coming in today, and just inside the room was two little bags, both made of soft gray fabric. They were his plan.

And there a knock at the door to the house. Nida smiled and moved to answer it. It was time for a sesson, and further supporting his wonderful students. Just call him a match maker. Or reinforcer? Whatever.

"Hey, you ready for your workout?"

II. Time for a Husband | Closed to Ignis

Did it matter that they'd already had a playful set of nights for Ignis's birthday recently. But Cherishment seemed like another one of those traditions he didn't mind. And honestly, he liked all of this. There was something similar back home, Heart Day, where people exchanged gifts and the like with friends and lovers. So this one was something he knew how to deal with. He'd gone to the flower shop to get a bouquet, he'd gathered what he needed to cook a meal on his own, and of course he had the gift.

Gifts and spoiling each other seemed to be what Ignis and Nida did.

"Babe?" Nida called out as he came home that evening. He thought Ignis shouldn't be home yet. And... Well, if he wasn't...

Nida smiled and moved into the kitchen. Time to cook.

"Right, I don't want to spar that way with you yet." Yuki replied, shaking his head. That was something he didn't mind working up to, but he didn't want to do that today. He did smile when he heard sensei would put on a show. Quietly he just followed Nida to the spot and started untying his sword from his back.

"Yes."

"Good. You've got a lot of potential and skill, but you aren't there yet, not with live steel."

Especially with how Nida was half worried that if they did spar together, with that blade in hand, Nida might snap. No, he wanted to make sure that he had someone else there used to combat to help if Nida got to that point. So that they could step in. Of course then he'd have to find someone he could. Maybe that Illyana lady. She apparently had serious magic.

"Good to hear. But before that, I wanted to give you something."

He just smiled because Shishō back home taught him to work with live steel. But every teacher was different and had different ways of teaching and Yuki absolutely respected that.

He was the student here, and was here to learn, not here to try and be the teacher.

But hearing that sensei had something to give him had Yuki confused. What was it he was getting? His mind searched and there was nothing he'd asked for. "You..do?"

They were different, and Garden insisted on never teaching early stuff with live steel. And that was a hard rule that Nida always followed. Granted he was primarily a polearms trainer, and those misused could be very bad.

"I do," Nida agreed, reaching for one of the gray bags inside the door. He considered for a moment, Yuki's hair and how he normally dressed, and decided to select the white bracelet with the single black bead. That bag he held out to Yuki. "A gift from a mentor."

He reached out for the bag and looked at it puzzledly. But he took the bracelet out the bracelet and his eyes opened up widely. "I didn't get you anything sensei." Yuki replied, feeling guilty that he didn't get him anything.

"Nor should you," Nida answered, his voice soft as he moved to place a hand on Yuki's shoulder. "This is my gift to you, just as much as the blade was. You're important to me, Yuki. You're important to a lot of people."

It wasn't like him to want to cry at some words. But hearing Nida say those things were really things he didn't hear growing up and even if Jacob had said the same in other words, it really meant a lot to him to hear such a thing.

And all he could do was lower his head because he didn't want sensei to see how much those words affected him.

Still, his wavering soft tone and the way he clenched his bracelet in his fist might still be a give away.

"Th...thank you."

Oh no, not tears. Please don't cry. He does, though, move to hug Yuki. Please just let him do that.

"You're welcome, Yuki. If you want, to make it a bit less over the top Instructor Nomura is being silly, just consider it a 'Instructor Nida likes accessorizing'."

He didn't know what to do when sensei hugged him. That was never a thing that he thought of whenever he thought of Nida. Of course the other man hugged people - like his husband and people like that. But this was completely unexpected and Yuki finally let the tension go out of his shoulders after the initial contact.

He felt so lost and yet sensei and of course Lauri-Ell and Jacob made him feel welcome and necessary in this world. Oh how the people back home that so very mistakenly referred to him as a prince would laugh if they saw how a simple kindness such as this took all of that away and left a vulnerable sensitive boy in its place who wanted to be needed.

"I can do that..thank you" he finally managed after a series of quiet moments.

Hey, sometimes students needed positive reinforcement. Nida had absolutely embraced young cadets before, the ones who needed it. Admit it or not, the guy was good with younger people, and in giving them the affection Nida had grown up without.

"You're welcome," Nida answered. "And, if you want, we can move on and deal with the fighting instead, so you don't have to think about this."

"Yes..please." Yuki replied. Half of him wanted to just go home, but he'd come all of this way and he didn't want to disappoint sensei by going home. Not after the bracelet and the hug he didn't even realize he needed along with words he needed to hear.

He didn't want to get into any of it because he didn't want Nida to feel bad or anything either.

Maybe one day he might open up, but today his voice would crack and break if he tried.

Opening up wasn't needed today. Not like it might be another time. He offered a smile and gestured for Yuki to take his place in the middle of the space.

"Warm up exercises first. Then I want to see that you've been practicing your kata."

He nodded, grateful for the distraction as he slid his bracelet on. But he waited for sensei and kept working on shaking off the feeling of feeling like jelly, as if Nida had discovered something about him that he wasn't ready for.

Kind of like when the whole Rat thing had been exposed to Jacob.

"What do you want me to start with?"

The bracelet looked good actually. Nida hoped Jacob's looked good too.

"Just your stretches. I just want to make sure you don't pull muscles. I think Jacob might not forgive me. He often asks about you when his practices come up."

As soon as Nida mentioned stretches he got right to doing them. However when Jacob was mentioned, Yuki stopped a moment and blinked. And then he smiled and returned to his stretches. "I'm not really sure why he's asking about me when he can call me and ask me himself."

Oh these two. So cute. Nida chuckled.

"He cares about you. And I'm the guy that, though for a good purpose, beats you up on a regular basis. He wants to know how the training is coming usually. I tell him to mind his."

It was amusing, always.

"Ya, I know he does." Yuki replied, feeling his face turn red. There was a slight laugh as he heard more about Jacob's protectiveness. "That's good..I'm sure he really just needs to focus on what he's doing and not on what I'm doing."

"Exactly," Nida agreed, sounding a bit proud of the decision Yuki had come to. "Alright, lets get the sword out and get to it, okay?"

"Right." Yuki replied, getting up and doing one more stretch. "Let's get going."

Because the sooner he could do this, the sooner he could make sure he could protect people if it came down to it.

Nida nodded and rose, moving to pick up his own blade.

"I'll do it with you. Get your blade out. No reason we can't do this while they are unsheathed. Remember, stance matters, a stance is how a swordman lives and dies. A stance that isn't strong will leave you vulnerable and slow."

He nodded and got his blade out. He kept it very carefully wrapped and it was very well taken care of. True he'd bought a blade here but this one was special because sensei bought it.

Yuki nodded as he listened to Nida. "Which one works best for you?"

"It varies on whether I'm defensive or aggressive. But I'm very rarely aggressive. You've got the potential to be fast, and that's a whole other matter."

But he takes a nice, wide stance to keep his balance, and shows how he tries to keep from presenting a large target.

Yuki smiled only because he'd been known to be faster than the stupid cat. More than once he'd gotten the jump on Kyo because of the element of surprise and even when he didn't, he still managed to move quicker.

But this wasn't anything to do with that so the smile faded quickly. And then mimicked sensei's stance as best he could.

"Like this?"

"Like that. We'll figure it out soon enough, what you're best for," Nida answered, but he nodded his approval. "I'll show you the first strike then?"

He only smiled as sensei decided to talk about things later. One thing at a time though there were times he wished he could learn more faster. However, he had to go at Nida sensei's pace and he knew that.

Yuki then nodded at his teacher's question. "Yes please."
