Not all languages are spoken. - Open to All!
Llewellyn was rather embracing this celebration. It was a lovely idea, really... It reminded him a bit of Valentine's day in his world, but somewhat nicer in a few ways...
He'd never really taken part in his world, never having had a reason to. Even if he had... It would have been complicated and difficult to explain at best. So, maybe he was looking at it with a more positive outlook based on the fact that he could openly celebrate it and enjoy himself as he was without stress or need for secrecy.
So when the man wasn't working one of his two jobs or spending time with his husband, he was out and about.
Llewellyn was often eager to offer some thoughts or opinions to those around him. After all, he had a particular knack for languages and Floriography was a personal favourite of his.
So if someone was trying to pick something out and seemed to be uncertain of their choice, wanting something with a little more thought than simply purchasing the first thing they saw... He gently interjected with some friendly recommendations. Something for a friend? A collection of Zinnia, apple blossom, pansies, and Eucalyptus tied together with a teal chiffon ribbon. Something more romantic? Yes, Llewellyn probably had suggestions there too...
He was a meddler at heart, after all, and was very prone to trying to help nudge people in the right direction. It had worked well enough for George Crabtree in his world, so clearly he knew what he was doing...
Right? Right.
Network/Wildcard: You are also welcome to reach out to him over the network for questions too, if you think your character wouldn't approach him directly.
Get Ivy out of the corner challenge START! - Closed to Ivy
It had been a while since he’d actually seen a particular vampire friend of his around, though to be fair, that might have something to do with how he tended to get during the winter months. He wasn’t fond of how dark the evenings got, and the cold always sunk in rather deep, even with a good winter coat. Then January had been… Complicated between the crystals and Enis showing up. So he’d been more than a little distracted, and supposed they just kept missing one another around the city.
Llewellyn had rather hoped that perhaps it meant she was busy with Harry… By which, he meant busy getting closer to the man and not continuing to make herself second guess her feelings and his. Someone should probably tell him to stop nudging people like a busybody, but it was a habit… If he thought his friends could be happy, he couldn’t help but try to encourage it.
Still, he’d been meaning to call or pop in to check on her… Have her out for a coffee and a walk around to catch up.
So without much forethought, the detective crosses the courtyard between buildings and heads up the steps to the Green Apartments. Once up to the second floor, he leaned against the door frame and reached up to knock. Maybe he should have texted first, as would be polite, but he sometimes forgot those things… But at least this whole celebration had given him a good excuse to reach out to friends, of which Ivy counted as, which was why he had something tucked under his arm for her.
And it wasn't like the distance between where he stayed and here had been particularly large if she wasn't in.
Comparing one world to another - Closed to Tommy
This time of year was definitely... A hazard. Yes, the crystal rains had stopped (thank goodness) and nothing solid was raining down on them anymore... But Llewellyn wasn't particularly good on his feet.
A particular friend from the Sphere knew that very well, having given him skating lessons.
But slippery cobblestones were not the friend of a man with poor balance who tended to walk fast, especially not one who had bags of supplies (ribbons purchased from Rhy's shop for tying bouquets that he intended to make and teach people to, along with snacks and some things needed for Pretzel) under one arm and a pretzel (the food) in another hand. So more than a few people got to witness him occasionally losing his footing and needing to catch himself on a wall.
But he was “Oh- er… Pardon!” He uttered at one point, nearly sliding into someone, only to awkwardly spin a little with a wobble and an arm moving for the wall of a nearby building to halt himself again. He lost the pretzel, sadly, but his attention was more on the person he'd almost run into. It didn't take him long to recognize Tommy, his expression turning apologetic. "Tommy! Hello, always nice to run into a friend. Well- not literally, of course."
When a plan backfires - Closed to Enis
The detective wasn’t entirely sure what to make of this ‘Cherishment’ event, beyond the fact that it was clearly this world’s version of Valentine’s Day. It was February, everyone was abuzz with sentimental words and gestures... At one time, he might’ve found it a bit tiring and grown a bit despondent, but this year he was actually rather enjoying it and embracing the idea.
Llewellyn had been out and about a lot in the city, busier with helping with floral arrangements than his other work for a change. Making bouquets with various meanings based on his knowledge, depending on the person’s needs.
He was between one point and another, absentmindedly wondering if he should purchase something from that new chocolatier that had opened. He was starting to feel a bit snackish, after all... Though he was hesitant, given he’d heard that some of their selections had... odd side-effects.
One thing he hadn’t considered was that someone might have already been there, with particular plans in mind.

Tommy
"Someone didn't get more graceful without the ice," Tommy teased. "How are you and the husband?"
no subject
He laughed awkwardly, an embarrassed expression crossing his face at Tommy’s teasing. “Ah, no… It would seem not. I don’t think I get along with gravity particularly well in general.” He shrugged lightly. The question was a nice shift from his embarrassment, though. “Mm… We’re well? Better this month than last, I think.” That had just been a whole thing, and he knew they both were glad to put it behind… Especially as it had let his husband’s secret out of the bag. “We’ve been uh- enjoying this Cherishment celebration, between work and looking for a house.”
And, because he was a
nosycurious friend, he returned the question. “What about you and your boyfriend? I hope you’ve, um… been getting settled in well.” He stumbled a bit. Boyfriend was not a common term from his time, but he was doing rather well with introducing newer terms to his vocabulary. Even if they came out a little awkward at first.no subject
"GOod thing no one gave you the power of flight. You'd be crashing all the time if gravity hated you. Sorry about the whole, you know, memories getting out thing. Gotta suck."
Looking for a house made sense. Tommy and Gar hadn't because they had mostly just built their rooms into a double. Helped to live nextdoor to each other.
"Gar and I are fine. Speedy too, but keeping our space warm enough for him has been hell. The sphere did a lot to take care of the little guy. Who is starting to grow actually."
no subject
Llewellyn winced comically at the very idea of flight, though. “I expect you’re right about that. I’d make quite the mess, I think.” For the best that nothing like that had ever happened, really. He offered a small shrug, though, before he began resettling his bags under his arm carefully. “Likewise, I don’t imagine it was something any of us wanted to revisit after the Sphere…” He doubted that Tommy enjoyed it any more than they had. It was a mess. “We were rather trying to keep things a little more private here, especially for Rhy…”
Up until that point, he’d been more worried that he’d accidentally say something without thinking. “I suppose all these worlds share the same unfortunate habit of sharing our secrets.”
He nodded, though, glad to hear that the other three were doing well. “That’s good to hear, though! Er… Not about Speedy, that is. I hadn’t thought about how this weather might affect the poor little fellow.” He frowned lightly. Llewellyn couldn’t blame the creature. He wasn’t fond of the cold himself. “Pretzel has a few small jackets now for when we take him for walks... But dogs are a little more suited for weather than sloths. Wonder if there’s anything that could be made to help insulate him a little better.”
no subject
Tommy always needed a good laugh back there.
"Yeah, I've tried to work on sweaters and stuff for Speedy, but he needs coverd even more. I have the sweater mom got him, but not much else. It's been a mess."
But he's been trying and that matters a lot.
no subject
Though a chuckle escaped at the mention of Richard. “Yes, he was quite set on that. Even tried to get the man to sing at the wedding. Never managed it, though.” He shook his head. It had always been something of an amusing debate. Sometimes he rather wondered where Alex and Richard were now, if they were still in that place or back in their world…
He hummed though as Tommy described how he’d been trying to work on things for Speedy. “I could always see if Rhy has any ideas on the subject of something warmer for him to wear. He might be able to recommend some warm fabrics.” Still, it was a pity they didn’t have access to something that would regulate the temperature in a room for Speedy.
no subject
HE should have gone. Yeah, he'd been hurting, but some things can't be caught back when they're let pass by.
"I'd appreciate that. This place is... weird. Really weird, compared to the last one actually. But I like some of it. Like the lack of being auctioned off for a date."
no subject
Llewellyn would have liked to have had Tommy there, yes… But it wasn’t like the detective didn’t understand why he hadn’t been. He knew how much a family member disappearing could hurt, and he wouldn’t have expected Tommy to try to force himself to do something when he was miserable.
“Of course, I’m happy to help a friend if I can.” He didn’t know if the suggestion would help, but he’d do his best to find out. The poor little sloth should be kept warm, after all.
Of all the things Llewellyn might have guessed Tommy would have said he liked better about this place, that had not been one of them. Llewellyn blinked, a small laugh escaping. It was a good point. “Ah, yes. I believe we’re in agreement on that subject. That was terribly awkward, wasn’t it…?” He rubbed the side of his face with a small, comical wince.
no subject
he smiles stupidly. Gar had won some time with him, and he'd meant a REAL date with it, so now Tommy wasn't alone.
"Sometimes shit like that works out."

Of course <3 We'll have to do more soon.
When a plan backfires <3
It wasn't because Enis put a tracker in his palm but because his movements were predictable. He followed a standard schedule and seemed to keep company with another man at night. Enis didn't put a lot of effort into finding information about Llewellyn but she'd gathered what she could in hopes to understand him a little better. By all appearances, he was exactly as he seemed.
That only made him harder to trust.
Today was her chance to alleviate her distrust and a little part of her wished for his sincerity to be true. She'd been alone for so long... to think she'd made a friend and like every other friend she'd made... it'd been erased. Anger curled in her chest as she purchased the same chocolates that she'd fallen victim to and headed towards her target.
Enis had thought that the detective would be at his office but when she turned on the signal to the tracker she found he was heading in her direction. The corner of her mouth lifted into a smirk as she stepped into a shadow along the row of buildings waiting for her prey.
Ten minutes passed until Llewellyn walked into arms reach of his stalking shadow. Enis reached out and pulled him off the street with a smug look on her face. "You're coming with me." A little part of her really liked scaring him. Perhaps she was as fucked up as her father's other experiments. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you this time." She will force-feed him chocolate though.
<3
Though, one could reasonably assume he was also just out of practice. It had been awhile, after all.
An awkward yelp escaped him as an arm reached out and snagged him as he walked by the alleyway, eyes wide and a flurry of random points of interest to discourage a mugging and or kidnapping, such as the city guard was just around the corner or xyz person was expecting him and would send people. He stopped, though, when he realized it was Enis, which made him relax perhaps a little too easily given he still wasn’t sure what she thought of him yet. “O-oh, Enis. Hello, what do you need??” He was a little glad to hear she didn’t intend to do him harm this time. That was… Progress… Right? Still, he needed a moment to find his footing when his course had been altered so suddenly. “I have a tell-phone you could have called me at.” He added awkwardly, a blunt absent thought crossing his mind.
It was unfortunate Enis had concocted this plan and spent her money, though. He would tell her the truth about generally anything she asked with or without the enchanted sweets. He wasn’t in the habit of lying unless he had a very good reason. The detective was looking for chocolate anyway, so this would suit him well enough.
no subject
"Follow me. We need to talk." She gestured towards the sidewalk and then took off, pausing only to make sure that he was following her. Enis didn't really know where to go but she didn't want to spend the next half hour standing in an alleyway. The city was relatively clean but it wasn't that clean.
The chocolate was tucked in a bag beneath her arm but she wasn't going to give it to him just yet. She needed a baseline. "What were you doing today?" She asked, seemingly interested though merely trying to assess how he answered the question.
no subject
Llewellyn didn’t take long to hurry after her as she started down the sidewalk with a curious tilt of his head. “I presumed you wanted to talk by your surprise appearance. What about?” He asked, curious as he continued, tucking his hands in his pockets and slouching forward to glance at her in an attempt to read her mood a little. His steps were quick, and being fairly tall, it wasn’t hard to keep up with her fast pace.
The question caught him a little off guard. “Mm… Nothing particularly important. I was just finishing up at Aerith’s garden and killing time until Rhy finishes his shift.” By meddling with people’s love lives and enjoying the focus on flowers that this whole Cherishment celebration had brought about. It was a nice… lighter reprieve from some of the darker or upsetting things that had happened in this place. “Just thinking of finding a snack, actually. I know there was an uh- a new place that opened recently that I had yet to try.”
no subject
Her steps slowed as they approached a small green area that looked like a park. A great majority of the trees were bare and the ground was cold but it was peaceful. There weren't a lot of people out and that gave them privacy despite the fact that it was a large open space. "There. We'll sit." She pointed to a bench not too far away.
The wooden bench was cold and a little damp but Enis ignored it. "Here." She passed him over the box of chocolates that she'd gotten. If he didn't eat them, she'd make him, but since he said he was hungry it'd be easier if he just ate some himself. "I need to know what you know about me."
no subject
Llewellyn glanced around the park. It was something he knew pretty well by now… Well, he knew most of the open spaces around the city pretty well. It had been almost a year, and he was a frequent wanderer. “Mm… Right, sitting works.” He commented absentminded, still curious about what she wanted to talk about. Moving over to the bench, he sat on the arm of it lightly, setting his feet on the unoccupied space.
The chocolates were a surprise… It was almost like she’d planned this… “Oh… These are from that new place that opened. Seems like you read my mind, hm?” As she continued while he took them, he had a sneaking suspicion this was a plan. But what did he have to hide? Nothing, not from Enis. At least… Not about things she probably wanted to know about. So he popped one in his mouth and enjoyed it. They were really quite good. “About you? Mm… Probably more than you’d like, knowing you as I do.”
He settled his shoulders, holding up the box of chocolates for her to take one if she wanted while he considered his answer. “I know you’re excellent with machinery, technology, and chemistry.” He started snagging another chocolate for himself. “And that you have more patience than you let on when you grumble, since you were always fixing the things I broke- I’m from… a past era compared to you and others, so most of it is more complex than I’m used to.” That was an observation, perhaps. But he was prone to those, and sharing them when they came to mind. Very little filter no this one. “And I know you like music, too. You were going to show it to me once you found it. I know you had this… stick thing, but it had gone missing thanks to something at the Sphere.”
Were any of these the important points she was probably digging for? Perhaps not, but Llewellyn tended to take time to share. His mind was as chaotic as his filing system was, and so it was going to turn things out as they came to him.
no subject
Enis listened and without thinking about it took one of the chocolates. She didn't eat it right away but let the brown sweet sweet melt between her thumb and forefinger before taking a small bite. The chocolate was sweeter than she had expected and once the piece was gone she gently sucked the melted chocolate from her fingertips. It was only at his final comment that she felt the magic of the chocolate grip her thoughts.
Shit.
"Stick thing?" She had no idea what he might be talking about. "Okay. So What about my physicality? Or my family?" Enis tried to phrase the question in a safe way. If he didn't know about her father or his experiments then she wasn't going to tell him about it. It was going to soon become an issue if she can't find a solution at the Grave shop.
no subject
The detective was glad that she’d taken one to enjoy as well. Even if he had considered they weren’t normal chocolates, the possible effect had slipped his mind since he wasn’t worried about it, and sharing was his instinct.
“Ah…” He mumbled clumsily as she asked what he knew about two specific topics. “I definitely know more than you wanted me to, the Sphere mm… It had a way of sharing our memories, and one month it even made us confess to unpleasant things.” Which had been quite rude, in his opinion, and caused a lot of pain. “I know your father was not a good man… I know about his experiments, and what he did to you and what it drove you to try doing… To end it.”
He cleared his throat a little, trying to not let some anger at what she’d been through bleed into his tone. “I know that what he did to you. That he installed these- You called them systems-? in your head. That what he did tries to control you, and fighting his programming hurts you…” He gestured slightly as he spoke, taking another chocolate to focus on because he knows she definitely wouldn’t want people to know any of this. “I know that you need some kind of serum to stop it all from changing you completely. You were making it at the Sphere. I was present when you were working on it once or twice.” Which was something he was a little curious about, if only because this world was far less advanced than the Sphere had been. Could she get what she needed here?? He had a bad feeling the answer might be no…

Which is exactly what Ivy would insist hers was. It'd be a lie, but nobody needed to know that, right?
They probably knew. Yet, somehow, the last thing she expected was a knock on her door. She could smell who it was outside the door and she sighed. He'd been one of the people she'd been outright avoiding. Not because of anything he'd done, but just because of circumstances. The idea that anyone at all had seen any of her memories was terrifying to her and hiding just seemed like the thing to do. Even if nobody had seen anything, it was easier to just not risk it.
But some people always had to show up anyway, didn't they? She grabbed a hair tie off her desk and tied her hair up into a messy pony tail as she pulled own the door.
"Hello, Llewellyn," she said with a polite smile.
no subject
But seeing the door open, his expression brightened. “Ivy! Afternoon. I was hoping you’d be in.” The detective greeted her in return, relaxing a little to know he’d at least not stopped in to find her out. Though… That also meant his suspicions were correct, and that the chances of her being out and about were rather less of late. “I um- hope you don’t mind that I dropped by.” He started, gesturing lightly. “I just realized that it’s been a while since I’d seen you, and I had some free time today.”
no subject
"I've been told I'm not good at keeping up with friends." It was probably why she had a grand total of two back home. Three if you counted their pixie partner Jenks, but he was more of a business partner than friend. Of course she'd had work friends here and there while she was working for the IS. But those were more the type of friends that respect your work ethic or your position of power. They definitely weren't people she'd meet in an alternate dimension and choose to spend time with.
"I appreciate you thinking of me in your free time."
no subject
Llewellyn was very nosey. He couldn’t even deny it or be offended by the idea. He knew what he was, and while he might apologize if it were pointed out… It never stopped him from continuing to ask. So mentioning Harry definitely got the detective’s attention. ”Oh? Has he uh- been dropping by as well?” Had they finally gotten their feelings sorted out? He couldn’t help but wonder if Ivy had taken his advice from one of their last encounters…?
Shaking his head a little a little, he continued a moment later. “Oh, I could just as easily be blamed for not keeping up. I’m uh- not particularly good with the winter months, aside from keeping busy with work. Rhy would probably tell you I’ve driven him a little crazy.” He commented with a wry expression. Llewellyn was trying more lately, though. “And worlds like this do keep one busy. But! Today is a good chance to catch up, I think.” He added with a clumsy attempt to not dwell on the obvious ‘bad at keeping up with friends’ thing.
Llewellyn smiled a little with a shrug to her appreciation, “And I appreciate you not being cross with my randomly dropping by without warning.”
no subject
"He came by a time or two to ask if I wanted to go out with him," she stumbled over her words for a moment before rushing to add: "to get something to eat at the pub." It wasn't something she'd count as a date. Mostly because it was below her standards and she wasn't sure if she wanted to admit they'd been dates. Nobody needed to know that.
"Something in particular about the winter months keep you occupied?" Was that too blunt of a question to ask? Maybe he was rubbing off on her. "I'll be cross with Harry on your behalf. He started the precedent."
no subject
But he hummed at the mention of orange juice, “Then I’ll help you find some of that too. I could probably stand to pick up a few things for the apartment myself.” He added absentmindedly. It was probable that there was a little list in his pockets somewhere of things Rhy asked him to get for their own fridge when he had the chance. Nothing too important, of course, because even his husband realized his mind tended to wander without a reminder if it was necessary.
“Is that so?” Llewellyn’s attention zeroed in on that, because even if it was below her standards? It still kind of sounded like a date to the detective. “That’s um- nice…? Not the best location for a date, but it is Harry.” Yeah, he even said it without thinking. Well… Mostly without thinking, he couldn’t help but wonder if it had been or if Ivy thought of it as such. Llewellyn himself hadn’t even realized he was on a date with Rhy the first time they’d gone out, and he knew she was sometimes as reluctant to realize someone wanted them in their life as he was.
“Mm… Something like that, I guess. Never been fond of the cold, but it’s more about how dark it tends to get.” He knows how that sounds, but he had his reasons. He let out a small huff and a chuckle at the comment. “Not too cross, I hope?”
no subject
"What a coincidence that you need something too," there was no hiding how amused she seemed by that. "Anything in particular you want to eat?" She could be flexible. Sort of. She shrugged a shoulder as nonchalantly as she could. "Nice enough, I guess the fries weren't bad. I didn't say it was a date." Harry probably thought it was, being Harry and all. He probably thought it was a perfect location for a date.
"My kind have always preferred the dark." The pupils in her eyes dilated and for the briefest of moments her eyes were pitch black. All it took was a blink for them to fade back to their normal color and she chuckled. "Worried for him?"
no subject
“I’m not a particularly picky sort, really?” The detective responded to her question with a small shrug. “As long as it’s something hot, I’ll be happy. So I think it depends on if you want something to sit down and eat, or if you want to eat while looking around.”
Llewellyn hummed a little, brow rising at her insistence that it wasn’t a date. “No…? Still, worse places for one, I’d think.” He smiled a little. “But my mistake, I suppose.” It sounded like just the kind of place Harry would take someone on a date. He’d seen how awkward Harry could be in a formal setting, after all. A pub was easy to picture him in over a fancier establishment. He wanted to ask more, but he wasn’t going to just hound her with questions before they’d even gotten to the market.
He blinked a little in surprise as her eyes changed. “O-oh, well. Yes, I expect that’s true.” He gestured a little as he continued, “You probably have an easier time seeing trouble coming than I would.” Which was generally what had him on edge in the evenings… Too much bad happened around him after dark.
Laughing a little awkwardly, “Maybe a little? I’d hate for two of my friends to be at odds with each other.”
