Cherishment Makes The Heart Grow Fonder [Open]
Who; Rhy, Llewellyn, Yuki, And whoever
What; Get Your Cherishment Gifts Here, and Husband time
Where; Markets, Rhy's Apartment.
When; February
Warnings; None?
I. A Pop-Up Gift Shop
Cherishment was coming. It was a term that Rhy didn't understand but he heard whispered time and time again in the shop, whispered between Tiana and the other seamstresses as they worked on fancy dresses and even, from time to time, a more romantic garment or two made mostly from lace. BUt they talked and talked in anticipation until Rhy finally asked what was going on. And what he learned set Rhy to thinking, thinking and preparing.
Which was what led to him out in a small stall in the open air markets through the month. It had been one he'd convinced Tiana to rent for the time of Cherishment, and from there he'd even went and bought his own small charcoal brazier to help him stay warm, even going so far as to drape the whole thing in a tent-like covering to keep the heat in. Granted the tent-like covering was made of discarded fabrics that were less desirable or had gone out of fashion years ago. It made the whole stall a bit warmer where he sat, though it had to be open in the front, so Rhy himself was in warm clothing and covered with a blanket, his hands often dipping under the counter so he could work his fingers inside a warming pocket.
All in all though, the stall was well decorated with his holiday offerings. There were all sorts of stuffed fabric hearts and small bowls and cups filled with a variety of fabric flowers. All of them were made from cast offs of the store, things too small to work with back there ot make real garments. Yet they were all very vivid in color, or rich in texture, or had subtle patterns worked into them or lace decorating them. They were a marvel of little things, stuffed in the case of the hearts with sawdust, flakes of ceder, and some herbs that were good at keeping moths away so they would keep well. The roses were lightly perfumed.
And all of it sold by a cheerful man calling out to whoever passed by.
"How about a lasting fabric creation for your dearest friends, or greatest love? A fabric creation will be rich in color, and meaning, for many years to come!"
II. An Evening In Love
Selling to others wasn't the only thing Rhy was doing, though. No, he had his own love to think about. Which was why he had come home one night with plenty of gifts. Pampering a lover was a very Kingly thing to do. Which suited the armload of gifts he came home with. Boxes with watches, an armload of hand made fabric roses, even a box of hand crafted chocolates he'd bought in town, nothing was too good for his beloved, and Rhy wanted to make sure that his love knew it.
And, of course, a nice soft and oversized heart that he'd stuffed with soft cotton just to give Pretzel to chew on.

When she makes the request he smiles and starts to sort out the flowers he has already made.
"I could sell you some of the pre-made ones, but if you want some really nice work, I could make them for you special."
no subject
She didn't know how he'd make them but she wanted them to be perfect and she knew that Rhy would do a good job. "Sometimes I think you are too kind to me." Inesa beamed at him.
"When will they be ready by?"
no subject
And that was just how life was in his books.
He took out a paper and started writing down the order.
"I think, for you, two days maximum."
no subject
"Then thank you. I will happily accept your kindness."
She watched him writing down the order with a curious glance. "Okay. How much are those six flowers? Do you want me to pay you now?" She had some money on her but she wanted to make sure she didn't spend it all before giving Rhy what he'd require for her order.
no subject
"No one has ever told me I have talent but for languages. Thank you."
He feels so damn moved by that.
"We're doing half up front, half upon completion," he says as he writes her receipt and offers it out to her.
no subject
"I am sorry to hear that. As your teacher, I can see your passion to learn and persistenceĀ is a talent of its own. I think you can do anything that you put your mind to Rhy." Her grin widened. "It is very impressive."
"If that was not the case I would not have been able to teach you." She was nice by nature but Inesa also did not lie. There was no value in lies and they often created unneededĀ misunderstandings.
no subject
"I thank you for saying that. As you know, my history was not prone to teaching me practical hand crafts. Who I was, who I was expected to grow up to be... It was assumed I would be persistent and learn what was taught to me. But what you did was try and give me a way to express myself that no one else ever thought I needed."
no subject
"Oh! Right. I have practiced my flight. When are you finished today? I would love to fly with you." She could do so now but she didn't think that Rhy wanted to leave the booth unattended.
no subject
"I will be done around the fourth hour of the afternoon," he answered, thoughtful. "This is safe?"
no subject
It might not be a long flight but it'd be fun.

She didn't want to take up more of Rhy's time and politely excused herself to continue her aimless wandering. She had a great deal of fun walking around the city but when she returned to Rhy's stand, her wings were stretch out to either side of her slender frame and she was slowly descending to the ground.
"Rhy! Are you ready?" She closed her wings to her, looking like a feathery cloak. It didn't stop them from taking up a great deal of space but it made it easier for her to move through crowds and other obstacles.
no subject
"Very ready," he assured her with a grin.
no subject
"Oh! I almost forgot. This is from Mr. Llewellyn and me. We made it this morning but I had not brought it with me before." She dug her hand into the bag around her shoulder before pulling out a flower crown. The main flowers selected were red with soft pieces of pine twisted and decorated in between the blooming buds. "Mr. Llewellyn made most of it. I only added the pine." It smelled nice and made her think of Rhy.
She placed the crown comfortably between Rhy's curls before taking his hand in hers. "And do not worry. The crown will stay on your head." She'll make sure that the wind didn't take his gift away from him.
no subject
"The pine is good touch. Green always makes me think of Llewellyn," he admits with a smile, reaching out to touch them. Once it was on his head he happily offered his hands to her. "Show me, my dear friend, the skies."
no subject
"Hold on." Inesa took Rhy's hand before gently bending the wind around him. The force of the wind was localized to shield them but had to slowly pick up before they were able to take off. Inesa's feet left the ground first and then Rhy's. There was a moment where they hovered and then Inesa's wings spread and then they caught an up current, lifting them into the sky.
The currents evened out and Inesa looked over at Rhy as they glided down towards the city center. "Where did you want to go?" She could only fly so high with another person but from where they were they could reach anywhere in the city.
no subject
As for the flight, it left Rhy laughing in delight. He'd seen so many wind magicians do things such as this. To be able to enjoy it himself was amazing. Oh what a gift she gave him.
"The dorms, if that is possible. Toward the Red one, where I live."
no subject
It was a little difficult to determine which building was which from above but the greenhouse on the blue building made it easier for Inesa to locate their target.
The flight didn't take long though their landing was slow as Inesa adjusted their angle and speed so that they could safely land on top of the building's roof. With a gentle flap of her wings, they hovered for a second and then gently made contact with the roof. Flying was much faster than walking.
Inesa turned to Rhy with her usual smile, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "How was it?"
no subject
And then, sadly, it was over. Over and he was on the roof, smiling at her. Yes, this was good.
"It was a delight, my teacher."
no subject
"As for me. I should return home. Please give my regards to Llewellyn." Her wings stretched and Inesa lifted off of the roof. She didn't fly far or high and this made the turbulent wings she left behind less than they might have been otherwise.
no subject
"Regards shall be given," he called as she took to the sky. Oh what a delight. He might well dream of this.
