003 It's not raining men [Open]

He wore a wool jacket with his usual work pants and loose white shirt as he slowly made his way through the streets. In Jacob's left hand was a broom, his right hand a bag. He tried not to touch the crystals but when he saw one drop to the ground he quickly swept it into the bag. There were enough memories from his life that he didn't want to share and he imagined that others felt the same. It was impossible for him to cover the entire city but any reprieve to those he has come to care about was worth it.

Of course, he had to figure out what to do with the crystals but he'd have time to sort that out. Perhaps he could drop them into the water and let them be hidden by the sea. If they were really likely they'd disappear but Jake had never considered himself lucky. If anything he was unlucky.

He could be found anywhere around the city with his broom and bag. The bag varied in size throughout the day, growing with each hour but it wasn't enough. There were crystals out there and he couldn't do anything about it.

At least he had the broom, should he meet anyone who had bad intentions towards him.

Jake really had the worst luck.

Closed to Yuki | Blue Building B-06 | Finding Memories

He wasn't sure what to think. It was a strange memory but the strangest part was how it made him feel. It wasn't bad… not exactly but it made him realize how much he didn't know Yuki and at the same time, it made him realize how little he shared with Yuki. He understood from a logical perspective but it made him feel uneasy. Things couldn't always be happy and it was these memories that were the most important; it was these memories that should be shared.

Jacob didn't know if Yuki had found any of his memories. He was sure that there were some out there but it was something that the pair should talk about. If this relationship was going to be more than skin deep…

He was scared but knew that it was important that they talk.

Jake stopped outside of Yuki's door, knowing that the young man would be home. It was dinner time but he didn't feel like he could eat. He hoped he wasn't interrupting.

"So how do we-" He gestured towards himself and Nida, "-know if we're breaking a law?" Jacob was used to being inconspicuous, so he doubted that he'd run into a situation where he'd break a law but that still didn't mean he knew the laws.

"Like extorsion- would be less major than murder or robbery?" He remembered the robbers from the last time he'd been in the city and didn't remember seeing them since. Were they still around? Was there a jail in the city?

See, that has Nida looking at the young man with intrigue.

"Well, most of the obvious laws are pretty obvious. But you can always check in with the guard. Just be a good person and you won't have issues. I have, though, thrown people in holding for thefts."

"So like, no due process?" He hummed as if suddenly interested. It wasn't that he was planning to break any rules but it was a completely different system of government and he didn't think that it'd be entirely different from what he was used too.

Though it didn't really make sense to be democracy since there isn't any voting in this world.

"I'm not breaking rules." He stated, suddenly defensive.

"Of course there is. But that isn't my job," Nida pointed out. "There are magistrates."

His job, though, was to keep the peace and keep people safe.

"You're not. Why are you acting so nervous then?"

He shrugged. "Just thinking. Some laws are dumb." Like drug laws but Jacob didn't know if Nida knew what weed was or the complicated laws that had surrounded it. He was from a completely different world than Jacob.

"Where I came from that is. It was very controlling."

"Perhaps they are, perhaps they aren't. But here they're mostly just common sense ones, Jacob."

Controllign. Nida snorted at that. This was a common enough thing.

"Yes, control is what most governments want."

"Good to know." He mumbled audibly, more to himself than to Nida.

He really wasn't trying to sound guilty but Jacob felt guilty and it reflected in his tone.

"Good thing you're looking out for the city. I'd be terrible at that job." Jacob didn't think he'd be able to hold back when something struck a nerve.

"I'm used to it. Sort of. Two worlds ago I got brought in to join a guard for the little village we lived in. It was more needed because of all of hte angry animals that were there, of course. Someone had to keep people safe."

And Nida had put himself on the line for that. And served as the master of the dojo.

"Two worlds ago?" Jacob raised an eyebrow. "You have a lot of experience with this don't you?" He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or bad thing but he wondered why he didn't know that. He remembered Nida coming to this world from another place and they had looked at rings but Nida had looked so upset that Jacob hadn't thought to ask about it.

"Do you remember all those worlds? Like, is there a time when things fade?" Jacob didn't trust his own memories but he figured that most people had fairly clear ideas about their pasts.

"This would be my third world I was pulled into, the fourth world I've seen over all," Nida said with a shrug.

He was a traveler now, torn free from his world, and he didn't know how to get himself back. Then again, he had no intention of going back.

"My history with them is complicated. I remember everything about them, except the people. I can't remember their faces, or their names. I was almost engaged in one of them, and all I can refer to him as is my star eyed boy, Seb, because I remember stars had something to do with his magic. And he told me a story of great adventures in space, where space monks fought for great peace using sabers made of burning light."

Star Wars. His boyfriend had told him bed time stores of Star Wars.

"That sounds confusing." It was understandable that Nida had trouble initially adjusting to this world when his memories had been tampered with. "But also cool. The space monk things. Reminds me of some sifi stuff from my home. Except that was all fictional there." He scratched the back of his head after drawing the comparisons in his mind.

"Like lightsabers?"

He was slowly connecting the dots.

"Oh, it was fictional to him too," Nida said. "A story he loved."

Lightsabers? Yes! Nida smiles.

"Yes, like that. He said color said if someone was good or bad."

Jacob chuckled. "Yeah. That's Starwars. I know the original but I never saw all the others. I think they made 9?" He wasn't a big sci-fi or fantasy guy. It was too much like real life.

"That's cool. I didn't think anywhere here knew about those movies."

Star Wars. Nida's face lights up. "Yes! Yes, that is what he called them! There were only six though. They were exciting. There was a villain with an energy bladed polearm. I want one."

He looked excited that someone knows them. "There are three more!?"

"Really? I think they made more but I only know the first three." He paused and then edited his memory. "Well, 4, 5 and 6." Which were the first three made but not conically the first movies. It was a bit strange but Jacob felt like the distinction was important.

"Yeah. They made 1 through 3. I didn't see them though." He thought about it and then shook his head. "There might have been more. I was too busy to really pay attention to it."

"Yes, I heard the numbers were weird," Nida said, his face bright with the remembered joy and intimacy of that first true love.

"I could tell you about their stories."

Maybe he should tell them to Mono. Pass them down."

"Yeah. Maybe we can have a story bonfire night." He paused and then added. "If Ignis grills." Thinking about that meat on a grill was already making Jacob's mouth water.

He loved a good stake.

"Maybe after all this crap calms down." Like date night.

"Hey!" Nida said, looking half offended. "I can grill too. Sort of. Okay, you're right. He should be the one to do it."

But yes, maybe after.

"I'd welcome it, and would run it by him if you're really interested."

"Yeah. I'll ask Yuki." It would be nice to do something together though Jacob wanted to make sure that Yuki would be comfortable with it. He seemed uncomfortable with most things regarding their relationship.

"Either way, grilling." He pointed at Nida.

Food was really the thing that spoke to Jacob the most. He wasn't a good cook but he was a fantastic eater.

Move to a wrap?

"Grilling," Nida agreed with a wide grin. Once the weather allowed, he'd be excited to do it. "Whether it's with our partners or not."
