I'm having a party, a party for two

Who; Jacob [personal profile] brotherofagod and Yuki [personal profile] areasontohope
What; Quiet New Year celebration
Where; Yuki's place
When; New Year's
Warnings; None, will change if needed?

Yuki was nervous. He'd never had a New Year's like this and compared to last year's sorrowfully solitary one, this was a full blown party. Of course there was none of the other Sohmas gathering around or some private exclusive sort of banquet being held. Everyone's curses had been broken as Yuki had been told that he 'was the last' so he somehow highly doubted there would be anything of that sort going around anymore anyway back home. This marked his second New Year's here and he wanted to make it something to reflect on and make him smile on days that might be challenging in the new year ahead. And of course he only invited Jacob, the only person he wanted to spend it with. Hopefully this would go well for the older man as well and bring a smile to that handsome rugged face.

So he opted for dressing in a simple blue kimono that he'd had commissioned after finding a pattern in a book in the Wizard's tower. He'd ordered food from the tavern and had made tea, that much he could accomplish before everything seemed to shut down early due to the day/evening. And like the one tea set that he'd gotten for Nida sensei and his husband in October, Yuki ordered a blue tea set.

He'd spent about two days cleaning and scrubbing everything he could get his hands on in preparation ahead of time as was custom. And now the hardest part, waiting.

Jacob walked or ran everywhere in the city. It was time-consuming but it was calming without the same distractions that weighed him down at home. He also enjoyed walking Yuki to work in the mornings before heading to the workshop. Those minutes were precious to him and he didn't want to shorten them. Plus, birds could be terrifying and large birds were more daunting than facing down a werewolf head-on.

"Is that so?" He wondered if Yuki hadn't had a chance to eat a lot of different foods. Jacob's childhood had been similar but after his parents' deaths, he'd had the chance to explore and open his mind to how bit the world was. "That doesn't seem right. We should definitely try a lot more foods and find your favorites." Jacob didn't consider that there were people out there who weren't as interested in eating as he was. It was one of the few characteristics he shared with his sister.

"It's probably stereotypical of me to like beef best. Though I mostly lived on Ramen noodles before I came here. They're easy and cheap but can be fixed up with lunch meat and other stuff." Assembling food wasn't difficult but Jacob hoped to surprise Yuki soon with a meal made by his own hands.

"So what do you want to do tonight?" He asked in between bites. "Wait until midnight and kiss?" It was strange but he didn't know what to do without TV. Most of his New Year's celebrations involved watching something on the TV. He wondered if that was normal.
