Snow has fallen outside and while it's not heavy it's set just enough down to gently cover the wooden benches and ground outside. The chairs have been removed but the lanterns are still out and lit (as well as the little lights that have been replaced with more festive ones) if people want to walk around outside and have private chats among the snow, the trees and the lighting.


Potluck - Food is all around. Got a story about how the food you brought is part of a long standing family tradition? So much the better! But Ignis for his part has been researching and working on bringing the foods he's heard about. So here you'll find an appetizer platter along with a cream cheese tree, turkey, ham, his version of the Crown City roast, stuffing balls, roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables, and of course a few different desserts.

So you can find him making sure the table is decked out in christmas colours and full of food. But as he sets the last appetizer tree down on the table, he nods. "Quite glad to see that you could make it."


Trim a tree A small group of freshly cut green trees are sitting in a corner with room to go around the back. Simple lights are already in place, but there are ornaments with hooks sitting in silent invitation to decorate the tree and gather around as well as different coloured garland too.

But there's plenty of supplies and being able to decorate a tree with Nida last year was all sorts of fun as it will be again this year. So the advisor is definitely happy that nature can come inside at least temporarily.

Ignis stands back and takes a look at the trees with a satisfied sort of nod. "I suppose after the holiday, I will see about replanting it outside." Turning to his guest, there's an easy smile. "It won't do to simply throw it away do you think?"


Gift exchange - Gifts aren't required, but people are free to do so. This can be as private or as public as wished! The royal strategist is busy arranging gifts under the tree, trying to make some sense as to how they should be grouped, so he's on his knees trying to keep the order straight. As soon as someone approaches, he acknowledges their presence with a smile. "Would you mind handing me that blue wrapped gift sitting on the chair right next to you?"

"Happier?" Rhy asked, confused by that. Well, he'd still take the child's word for it.

"I think the world likes being able to change."

[monochromatically]

“Yeah! People just… They do things here? Sure, it changes sometimes and not all the stuff that happens is good or people aren’t always happy, but… They still don’t give up on doing stuff.” He responded, not really sure how to explain it. In his world, the people had stopped doing things. They stopped being people, for the most part… It was sad, and the mood of the Pale City was fairly oppressive. “So even if it’s not perfect, and it keeps changing, no one’s given up and still find things to be happy about.”

"Yeah," there's that, and he smiled. What a bright young lad.

"No one giving up is the most powerful thing someone can do. I have seen what giving up can do in my own world."

[monochromatically]

Mono was smarter than he gave himself credit for, honestly. For all that he didn’t understand this world and the way other people’s worlds worked… He picked up on things that seemed obvious to him. And a place full of life and people who hadn’t given up despite circumstances seemed amazing… What he hadn’t expected was to hear that Rhy agreed and knew what he meant, that he had seen what giving up could do in his own world…? “Really? Did people give up where you came from too, then?”

There was darkness in Rhy's face as he considered how to answer.

"It's complicated. Some really terrible things happened in my world thanks to the plottings of other people, and a corrupted form of magic. So yes, there was a good bit of despair and people who didn't fight when they could have."

In fact, Rhy himself was rather certain that more of his people could have been saved from possession if they had just fought harder, like Alucard had.

[monochromatically]

Mono nodded along quietly. “I guess that’s a little like my world. There’s something that… Corrupts it.” Corrupts seemed like the right word, anyway. “Makes stuff bad, and no one fights it anymore.” He wasn’t sure if it would ever change either, and when he went back… He had to get his friend back and get out of there if they couldn’t fix it. “Did it… Did you fix it? Did the corruption stop?”

Corruption in a world itself? Yes, that sounded like Black London and how it had spread. But that also described Osaron so much too.

"I think our worlds are not so different at this moment. Or at least we were, when the Darkness was in power. But yes, we managed to stop the corruption. now we need to rebuild."

[monochromatically]

Mono looked a little relieved to hear it... “I’m glad...? That you stopped it and you can rebuild stuff. I dunno if that will ever happen in my world, I think... I think it’s been like that for a long time.” But it helped a little, to hear that maybe if one world could be fixed, others could do.

Black London might not be a bad way to look at it. The main corruption had been consuming the people for a long time, and the Thin Man seemed to be at the centre of it all. At least from what Mono had seen before, he was brought to this world. It seemed like it.

"Or perhaps you need someone who wants to see change. Maybe you will be that," he said with a smile. Hope was something always to reach for.

[monochromatically]

Mono wasn’t sure there was anyone who could change it. He had run into very few in his time… But Rhy’s words were nice, “Maybe? I know I gotta do something when I go back to help my friend, so I guess I start with that and figure things out after that.” To get her back, he’d have to face the person who took her, and that might even do something on a larger scale, he supposed.

"The friend the music box is for?" Rhy asked with a smile.

They both had the music boxes to remember for a reason he supposed.

[monochromatically]

“Yeah, exactly. Her name is Six.” Weird names the kids in these worlds had, honestly. “She kinda got taken by one of the things that makes the city the way it is, so I gotta get her back.” Mono responded with a very small explanation, absentminded as he began fiddling with one of the bulbs on the tree.

A strange name, but who was Rhy to comment on it? But he frowned at that news. The boy's friend had been taken.

"Do you know where you could get her back from?"

[monochromatically]

“Yeah, I do.” Mono nodded, then he paused and his expression shifted to something less certain. “Um… I think I do. I think she’s gotta be in the place where the man in the hat lives since he took her, right? There’s this big tower at the centre of the city. It’s a signal tower for the TVs that him and the other thing use.” The child wasn’t entirely sure how it worked, but he was trying to explain as well as he could.

“I… I just got a feeling she’s gotta be there. And I think I’m supposed to go there too.” He stared hard at the ornament in front of him. He’d felt it pull. It was almost like it was calling him. Every time he passed a television and Six had to snap him out of it, had to pull him back… The closer they got to the tower. It felt important, and now that she was stuck there… He definitely needed to go there.

Rhy reached out, laying a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder.

"I know you'll find her, Mono. You are a strong young man, and you will achieve whatever you want."

And Rhy truly believed that.

Mono was a little surprised by the gesture, but he was starting to get a little more comfortable with people these days… And Rhy’s words were nice. He sounded so confident about it! Like he really believed that he would do what he needed to when he went back… “Thanks, Mr. Rhy… I’m gonna try my best. I gotta.” He nodded seriously, and he meant it. He really would try his best. He just… needed to get there first.

“Maybe if I do, and whatever brought me here before does again, it’ll bring both of us and you can meet her!” An innocent hope, perhaps, but it didn’t seem like a bad one to have. He bet Six would like this place if she saw it.

"Our best is all we can ever give. And I think it might be all you need."

Though Rhy laughed in delight at the idea that the young man might want his friend to meet Rhy. Granted he didn't think that was how places like this worked, but he could accept the sentiment.

"I should like that."

[monochromatically]

“Thanks, Mr. Rhy.” He responded quietly, because that was nice to hear. Mono honestly wasn’t sure sometimes, after things had been moving so fast and gone so wrong last time he was in his world. Whatever happened next, it was nice to think someone was sure he’d be good enough to fix things.

He offered Rhy a tilted smile and one of his soundless giggles as the man laughed. It was nice to hear people laughing, after all. “Great! Then someday, maybe.” He grinned.

Mono didn’t really understand how these worlds worked at all, but he liked the idea...

"That's all one can hope for," Rhy smiled. "Now, let us see about getting something fun to do right now."

He offers a hand out to his friend as a quiet suggestion that they could go together.

[monochromatically]

Something fun, huh? Mono didn’t take long to reach out and take Rhy’s hand. It was one thing that was almost second nature now, from his time with Six. You took your friend’s hand and hung on so you didn’t get separated. “Okay! I like the sound of that.” He hurried along. “I dunno what might be fun to do with this stuff, though. I’m still trying to figure it out.”

"We'll figure it out together. There has to be something," Rhy promised. He'd find it, if nothing else then he'd find it for Mono's sake.

"You know maybe we can find a good place to play hide and seek."

Mono certainly appreciated Rhy’s word, and he sounded more than a little pleased at the suggestion. “I’m really good at hiding! I bet there’s a lot of space around here to play that.” He commented, definitely sounding quite confident on the matter. Rhy would undoubtedly be spending a lot of time looking if he were the seeker… Poor man.
