Winter log
Who: Everyone!
What: Open Log
When: December
Where: The Hunter's Lodge
Warnings: N/A
Notes: This is a mingle log, so people are free to set up their own TLs under it. So tag in and tag around!
Snow has fallen outside and while it's not heavy it's set just enough down to gently cover the wooden benches and ground outside. The chairs have been removed but the lanterns are still out and lit (as well as the little lights that have been replaced with more festive ones) if people want to walk around outside and have private chats among the snow, the trees and the lighting.
Potluck - Food is all around. Got a story about how the food you brought is part of a long standing family tradition? So much the better! But Ignis for his part has been researching and working on bringing the foods he's heard about. So here you'll find an appetizer platter along with a cream cheese tree, turkey, ham, his version of the Crown City roast, stuffing balls, roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables, and of course a few different desserts.
So you can find him making sure the table is decked out in christmas colours and full of food. But as he sets the last appetizer tree down on the table, he nods. "Quite glad to see that you could make it."
Trim a tree A small group of freshly cut green trees are sitting in a corner with room to go around the back. Simple lights are already in place, but there are ornaments with hooks sitting in silent invitation to decorate the tree and gather around as well as different coloured garland too.
But there's plenty of supplies and being able to decorate a tree with Nida last year was all sorts of fun as it will be again this year. So the advisor is definitely happy that nature can come inside at least temporarily.
Ignis stands back and takes a look at the trees with a satisfied sort of nod. "I suppose after the holiday, I will see about replanting it outside." Turning to his guest, there's an easy smile. "It won't do to simply throw it away do you think?"
Gift exchange - Gifts aren't required, but people are free to do so. This can be as private or as public as wished! The royal strategist is busy arranging gifts under the tree, trying to make some sense as to how they should be grouped, so he's on his knees trying to keep the order straight. As soon as someone approaches, he acknowledges their presence with a smile. "Would you mind handing me that blue wrapped gift sitting on the chair right next to you?"
Wild card- Dancing? Snowball fights outside? Feel free to make up a thing here!

Cookies
"Well, well, I suppose I know who made these," she said as she picked one up and turned it over in her hands curiously. "If I die after trying this, I'll know who to curse." And with that she took a bite of the cookie, only to slowly place it back down as she realized just how hard it was.
Cookies
"Want to tell me what you think of the cookie?" He didn't expect her to lie though he was curious if she would after their last conversation.
no subject
She let out a laugh at his question and tilted her head. "Hard enough to defend yourself with." Was she suggesting that it could potentially be used as a throwing star? Maybe. "But...the flavor is decent enough."
no subject
"So I should use them as throwing stars?" He picked up one of the cookies and pretended to aim it at one of the nearby trees. After a second, Jacob tossed it with a flick of his wrist. He wasn't super human but he was skilled at throwing and managed to get the cookie firmly imbedded into the nearby branches.
"Mm, it didn't break. Guess you were right though I still think it taste like cardboard. I don't think I added enough sugar." Or water... or whatever made cookies not hard. He really didn't know.
no subject
"That might actually be their best use," she said with a smirk. Okay, she was definitely going a bit far there, but nobody could ever say Illyana didn't enjoy teasing people now and then. And sure enough when he threw it she gave a tiny nod of approval. "A weapon fit for a demon war."
She tilted her head as she looked at the cookie in a branch and then back at him. "I think there may be more problems with that than a lack of sugar. But what would I know? We didn't have sweets in hell."
no subject
"I think it's sturdier than wood." He could make a gingerbread house that not even Hanse and Gretal would eat. "I'll make sure to make cookie daggers next time."
Jake glanced back at Illyana and frowned. "Do you have any food in hell? I figured that you wouldn't have to eat there." He was also pretty sure Heaven would have been the same way.
no subject
"Of course we have food in hell," she shook her head and made a tsk sound. "Even demons have to eat. Usually each other."
no subject
Also little daggers for imps would be adorable and deadly.
"Do they cook it or are they into the tartar thing?" He knew of some creatures that ate raw meat or their prey but most of his family preferred to cook their meat. Eating as wolves made some of them queasy.
no subject
"Some cook it. Some enjoy the screams of their prey as they eat." In a weird way they were individualistic enough to be compared to humans. Some were more primal while others were much more capable.
no subject
Jacob wrinkled his nose when she mentioned the way that imps ate. "While they're alive? That's harsh." Not that he could judge too much but he imagined that it was a crappy way to go.

"Honestly that sounds like a lot of human's I know too. Maybe I just have shitty luck?" He absolutely had shitty luck.
no subject
"Maybe you do. Or maybe humans are closer to demons than they would like to think."
ooc: warp up soon?
Jacob glanced around the party and shook his head, suddenly distracted by a wayward thought. "Ah. That's right. If you do want little weapons for your friends. I can also make them out of wood. It'd be just as hard as cookies."
