How Do You Explain Boyfriends? | Closed to Billy
Nothing quite like night time for Tommy to be honest with his little brother. Many days he came over in the evening to make a first go at dinner for his little brother (and he'd make a larger one later when he went back to his own apartment), then he'd send Billy off to get clean while Tommy cleaned the little apartment up. When Billy was ready at last, Tommy flopped down beside the kid on the bed and stroked his hair. Normally this was story time, but...

But tonight he thought he might need to do something different.

"Hey Billiam, I wanted to do something a bit different tonight. I needed to talk to you about something about me."

Well, today was the big day, wasn't it? Tommy hummed and stretched as he threw off the blanket and rose from the bed. He didn't bother to shake Gar awake, not yet. There was plenty he could do to start the project without his boyfriend. Which in this case meant racing into the kitchen to start something hot to drink and start making toast and eggs.

Once he had some hot tea in a mug to sip and had the eggs going pretty well he started to hum to himself, considering the wall that would need to be dealt with. Good thing their living rooms aligned. Though maybe they should make the hole through the 'dining room' area. Huh, so much to consider.

"Gar! Breakfast time!"

Tommy of course caught the pillow and set it aside before tugging at the blanket that Gar was using. Nope, this didn't work.

"You wanna eat before you meet Billy or not?"

[garrrr]

Gar groans and the tries to hold onto the blanket but the mention of Billy does have him very slowly relenting. He still fixes the other with a pout.

"You know, breakfast in bed would have been really cute," he accuses gently as he lets go of the blanket.

"Yep," Tommy agreed, but then he wasn't there anymore.

What? He had to be back in the kitchen to finish dishing things out. Come on, Gar, keep up.

[garrrr]

Gar huffs a little when the other suddenly wasn't there. "Not fair," he calls. The other could have brought him breakfast in bed by now! He reluctantly sits up, rubbing his face and reaching for a t-shirt that'd been discarded on the floor to pull on to add to his outfit of boxers before grabbing the blanket and headed into the kitchen.

Sometimes, sometimes he just wasn't a morning person!

Of course it's not fair. But Gar had signed up for it. They had agreed to all of this.

"I made coffee," Tommy said as his boyfriend made his entrance, and was just putting everything on the table, sitting down himself with his own meal. "Sorry, I... I don't want to be slow today. I've gotta make Billy breakfast too, and then..."

Then his little brother is going to come over and Tommy and Gar would make their home larger and...

"I'm seven kinds of anxious."

Gar gets himself some coffee first but he sits down to eat. "It's going to be okay," Gar says, nudging the other's leg with his foot. He sips at the coffee and tries to shake off the remaining drowsiness that's clinging on.

Tommy nodded but he was still nervous. One thing to hear, another thing to react to it.

"I guess it's just... Fuck you know me. I'm not used to being the responsible person. Oh, by the way, you cool if we close Speedy up in one of the bathrooms with his chair rig?"

Soon Tommy's going to have to build the guy a better place to live and climb. Perhaps in one of the soon to be reclaimed living rooms, to give him a quiet space.

"You're going to be fine," Gar assures him again and he's eating as they talk while still playing footsie under the table because he can.

"Yeah that's fine," he nods. That'll do for now anyway.

Fine. What a horrible word. There was nothing fine about him, and he definitely wasn't going to be that.

He smiles at the footsie, though. It really was a comfort for him.

"Cool. Just figure we gotta do our best to take care of our little family, and the Sphere ain't providing this time."

[garrrr]

Tommy when are you going to learn to just trust Gar knows what he's talking about, honestly!

"I think we'll be able to figure it out together."

Tommy will always worry that he will actually and spectacularly let everyone down. It's just who he is.

"Alright then. Together. We'll... We'll do it together."

[garrrr]

One day Gar will help him build himself up more!

"Always," Gar grins.

Tommy offered with a smile and nodded at his lover. This would work. Does work. Is working.

"Never thought I'd be making my own sorta family."
