001 🔖 Crystal Broadcast ~ The Gullwings Reborn

[The voice that calls through the crystal is happy and energetic and... maybe a little too loud at first. These aren't like Shinra's commsphere's and she's still getting used to it.]

Yuna here!

I wanted to introduce myself but I also wanted to announce the formation of "Your friendly neighborhood gullwings!"

We're here for any odd jobs you have. We'll be protecting the city and exploring beyond the walls. I hope to bring back information and learn a little bit about this place and maybe why we were brought here. Anyone is welcome to join the Gullwings or these adventures. It might be dangerous so make sure you have a way to protect yourself if you want to go out there with me.

If I find anything I thought I'd bring it to the Hysterium? Is that what it's called? [Her voice gets softer and it doesn't sound like she's talking to the crystal.

After a pause, her voice gets louder again.]

Anyway. I'm really excited to meet you all. I can't wait to meet you.

[So loud... He’s intrigued.

The only thing that makes him hang back a bit is the fact that answering a verbal advertisement to join a group of strangers was ill-advised, or at least his friends would have been quick to remind him of that were they present. And... he wasn’t so long out of his own world that he’s forgotten their traditional nagging.

So, instead Yuna gets a greeting and some questions.]

I like your enthusiasm, Yuna, was it?

Forgive me from asking, but are we expecting the city will need protecting anytime soon?

And it seems to me like we might want to start looking inside the walls for answers before we search outside them, there’s a lot of curious aspects to the city that we’ve been abducted to rebuild.

[He’s not saying no to joining, but he’ll wait on offering up what he can do till he gets to know the person in charge a little better.]

I do like a good adventure regardless though.

I do not think you need to shout for the crystal to pick up your voice. Unless that's just how you always speak. [ There's a vague hint of amusement in Illyana's voice. What a strange thing for someone to be so enthusiastic about being kidnapped and having another world's problems dropped on their shoulders. This young woman sounded quite a lot like someone Illyana knew a bit too well. There's a brief pause and then she asks a question: ]

Who exactly is the we to your team?

[That being said...]

I plan on learning about this place myself, but I'm not much of a fighter. Is there any room in the Gullwings for a Private Investigator?

[arroganceandangst]

I appreciate your excitement, Yuna! I think the idea of the Gullwings is excellent! While your Gullwings is small I am happy to lend a hand! I have quite a bit of combat experience and am comfortable adventuring in the wilds.

Really? That's amazing.

What name should I call you?

Yeah... I guess that was a bit loud, wasn't it?

[She thinks about it, nods and then remembers that this isn't the comm-sphere network and he can't see her.]

Oh! Yes. I think that would be perfect. We need to collect information inside the city as well as outside of it and there is an impressive library here. We might find answers about ruins or magics there.

It'll take everyone and all sorts. You don't need to fight.

There was a real wizkid in the group before I arrived here. His name was ShinRa, he stayed on the ship a studied the sphere's we found. We also tried out his inventions.

I didn't mean to shout. I wasn't sure how loudly I should speak. This isn't like the comm-sphere's.

[She's still getting used to it.]

Right now it's just me but there were a few of us back home. We're a group of Sphere Hunters, who help out from time to time.

[whereishe]

[Her voice is warm and quick to respond.]

Yes! That's right.

[She pauses and considers his question before answering.]

Not exactly but there are somethings here that worry me. I think we need to know as much as possible and be prepared. I don't know what happened to the people who first lived here or how many of those now living here were brought here but something must have happened... right?

I think we should discover as much as we can.

[Now he’s a little more interested, warming up to the idea given her concerns. They were good questions to ask, all things he’d wondered about himself but doubted would easily be answered given some of the vagueness on what had happened here.]

Well, I’ll agree with that. We should absolutely discover as much as we can while we’ve got the time. [For all they knew, whatever happened before could happen again.] Knowledge is a valuable currency in a place like this... I’m not certain if my sort of talents would be any good to your group though.

[Breaking and entering was generally frowned upon after all, and on the other end there were few who could keep up with him in the water. Especially without any usable boats at the docks.]

And I’m not sure that I like the idea of joining up a group of people I’ve never met. I like to get to know who I might be working with first.

That's easy then! We should meet in person.

[Yuna understands that people might not be eager to trust her but she's willing to put in the work to earn that trust.]

There isn't anyone in the group yet but a few people have shown interest. I think we should all meet and be friends.

[soulsword]

It should be assumed something new is different. [ Her tone is neutral with little indication if she means the statement as rudely as it may come off. ]

Just you is not much of a team then, is it? Not yet. What do you think you would help with here?

My name is Aragibal Kha - it is a pleasure to meet you!

[ There is a small pause before he decides to venture with a question. ] So... Are the people from your home all the same?

I’m glad you think so, I’ve always thought that it’s best to discuss possible joint endeavours face to face.

[He’s been very choosy when it comes to his teammates before now, his team was a very close-knit group. So the idea of joining another was... a nice potential for a little familiarity, but he did need to know what he was getting into, and if they would be a good fit. If not, he certainly wouldn’t mind passing information along to Yuna if she was as earnest as she seemed.]

A gathering of all the interested parties would be a good chance to see how the potential group might get along, some place public. Maybe a tavern or a food establishment.

I think so too.

We can meet there but I don't know if all the locations here are well known. There are colored rooms we've been given and each seems to have a common area. What if we meet there to start? That way everyone can find their way.

It is nice to meet you Aragibal.

[She hesitates and when she speaks, she sounds uncertain.]

What do you mean? We have the Ronso and the Al Bhed and... well, many people live on Spira.

[whereishe]

Not yet but it will be.

[Her voice lightens.]

We'll do whatever we can. I have some ideas now, everything I had first said but I think it'll expand over time. I won't know until we start looking.

[stickyflippers]

As long as it’s a public space, and the other inhabitants of the floor don’t take issue with it, I don’t see why not? The coloured buildings are all fairly close to each other, no one would have far to go.

[A pause followed that, before he continued to ask Yuna a slightly more specific question.]

What colour of building would you hold it in then?

[He presumes the one she lives in would be the place, and he doesn’t know which that would be. Caelan definitely didn’t recognize the voice from around his own building, so it couldn’t be the red one.]

Just a bit, but it's fine.

[He chuckles.]

Well, I'm no inventor, but I know my way around puzzles. [And I have nothing better to do.] So why not?

Good!

[He can likely hear the smile in her voice.]

Then you can be the first official new member of this city's Gullwings!

Well, I am living in the Blue Building... [There is a brief pause before she continues.] So we can hold it there to start. You and I can meet there too. That way, if someone has questions they know where I live and can ask me there.

I don't mind.

[It'd be easier.]

[Easier in some ways, difficult in others.]

Blue building...?

[He had to pause for a beat, because of course she was in one of the odd coloured buildings. Similar to an actual seal, he had a very hard time telling blue and green apart. So he couldn’t even begin to guess which of the two buildings Yuna was actually in. He’d need to work around that...]

Alright, I’ll meet you at your building then. Perhaps you’d meet me outside? Wouldn’t want to waste time wandering around looking.

[whereishe]

That's right.

[She thinks it'd be easy to find.]

Yeah, I can head there now if you'd like.

I won't be hard to spot.

[Yuna has a very particular style.]

You're very confident in that. Do you think you will really get that many people interested?

[It would have been very easy if he were any less of an idiot and just admitted to the issue. Alas, he was silly that way.]

Fantastic, I have plenty of time to spare today, so I’ll head right over.

[Had plenty of time every day as it stood right now.

Caelan lowered the crystal, and hummed a little as he glanced out the window at the weather. Deciding the coat wasn’t necessary he made his way out of the red building and glanced between the two that had him so confounded.

He was pretty sure that even if he didn’t see her, he might just hear her first given her volume at the start of the conversation. Lucky for him, the green building had no one outside of it, while the blue building appeared to have a young woman waiting. Excellent. As long as that was Yuna, he knew which building was which.

Caelan was a tad shorter than the average fellow, his long hair done up with silver and black sea-glass hair pins to keep it out of his face for the time being, and his clothes were simple but elegant. A black waistcoat with silver buttons, pocket watch looped around into a pocket, his pressed white shirt closed at the neck with a brooch of the same design as the hair pins. Of course, his hands were still in their black gloves. They were for more than sneaking around.

Making his way over, he raised his voice lightly. It’s not a yell but it carries, melodic and light.]

Are you the lovely lady that I was just speaking with?
